kurt getting insanely shitfaced at the hellfire gala is extremely funny and a great continuity background gag for the event but god when you really stop and think about it in the grand context of krakoa it’s so fucking depressing. like kurt, whose usual role is to be the emotional core of the team and who’s so social and fun and nice is so completely cut off from his friends, who are his FAMILY, during this era that he’s having a massive crisis of faith without ANYONE who cares about him noticing. he’s like obviously depressed and miserable and he’s so isolated from everyone else that he doesn’t seem to be able to talk to the people he loves about it at all, and they just don’t seem to notice to the point where he’s having a drunken meltdown at an extremely public event and the people who are SUPPOSED TO BE HIS FAMILY just seem kind of annoyed he’s causing a scene instead of you know. taking care of their blackout-drunk friend

and you know between this and kurt being so depressed and lonely during his solo and him being actively excluded from things, like being told to stay out of x of swords alltogether when he offers to help, it seems INTENTIONAL, but i feel like it might just be that the writers don’t really know what to do with kurt and don’t find his relationships interesting, so he’s ushered off to be in his sad little solo talking to his students and fabian cortez over his best friends and people he’s literally given up heaven for
