while i'm breaking my silence I also have to say how fucking funny all of the art/writing depicting simon petrikov as an edgy hottie badboy academic is to me. like this guy is an absolute loser. just a sopping wet shaking greyhound of a man. in my head he's like. he's like maybe 5' 9'' and has dressed like a middle aged academic since middle school. he doesn't really know how to have conversations about anything other than anthropological publications on ritualistic sacrifice or geological formations and writes himself a script when he has to call and make a dentist appointment

there are very few things I want from S2, and I think in general Simon and Betty's story should stay as it is. However! However. Ending Betty's codependency arc by going from having her tied to Simon to tied to GOLB might kill me. Why are we telling Betty's story from Simon's perspective, letting the narrative itself treat her like an accessory to Simon? She is no less voiceless now than Casper and Nova implied she was before, and if this is building up to anything other than her getting an episode where she can scream and throw chairs at people I will fucking implode. If her ending absolutely must be one where she is bound to somebody else instead of herself, can we at least like, talk about that? I want to know exactly how she feels, and honestly I want her to be a little angry about it! girl power
