Bruce Week Day 4-Child/Injury

Whoops didn’t realize there were themes for these days. I always thought it was cool that the Hulk comics always depicted Brian Banner as a monster in Bruce’s imagination. That being said, it was always sorta a lizard demon thing so I tried to make it more of a Silent Hill styled “meant to represent this and that” sort of thing instead. If I had more time I would’ve tried to make something more thought-through.

they’re all too young for this business, they know it, the world knows it. but they don’t acknowledge it, nobody ever fucking acknowledges it, because they’re savng the world, they seem fine, it doesn’t matter that they’re teenagers, that they should be learning and growing instead of fighting and killing.

(nobody knows how damaged they are, the little ways they’ve all slowly cracked and then shattered, how little hope they have for the future-not even their boss, the man who decided to recruit some kids for an eternal war, because they’re strong enough, right?)

once, a senator speaks out about it, uses natasha as an example, talks about how she’s fifteen and a killing machine who can take down governments. it’s a good point, and, god, the kids wished people had listened, but it does nothing.

(clint doesn’t talk about how he heard natasha crying later that night. it’s a pact they’ve all made, it seems. ‘i won’t make you talk about it if you won’t make me talk about it.’ it’s not safe, but it’s how they function.)

bruce loses control one day in the middle of a meeting, tears through half the pentagon and disappears for a week. the news doesn’t cover it, not in depth. can’t let people think their heroes are dangerous to them, or dangerous to themselves, after all.

(tony and thor are the ones who find him, collapsed behind a gas station, shaking and heaving with sobs and sickness, too young and too hurt and too scared.)

a few small countries in the un try to pass an accord saying children working as superheroes shouldn’t be allowed, that it’s immoral and completely unsafe. it fails.

(steve won’t admit it, but he lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding when they get the news that the accord was rejected. he knows it should have been passed, but he doesn’t know what he would have done if it had. he doesn’t know how to live without fighting like this. none of them do.)
