I love me a good old alpha-omega dynamic, absolutely, but the sheer concept of Aemond, an Alpha, proclaiming he wants Lucerys, a Beta, as a mate, and Luke going, “Why???”

Because, sure, my favorite take of Beta is they can fulfill any mate role as needed, but they are very Red Mage, Jack of All Trades, Master of None. 

Luke may be fierce, sure, and he can fight, but not as easily as his brother or uncles. He will never give anyone the status nor backing an Alpha mate could.

And he could provide kids, but not as many as an Omega, nor as consistently since he has no heat and can only partially respond to a rut. He will never submit naturally, nor be able to calm or entice his mate at will with his scent, and Aemond wouldn’t even get Driftmark through him, since only Omegas get their claims stolen by their mates. And would Aemond actually be satisfied or comfortable as a lord consort???

No, makes no sense, especially if Aemond tries to push a claim in the midst/on the verge of a rut (where any other time the only thing he wants to stick in Luke is a blade) and especially if there are perfectly viable omegas about. Why would Aemond focus on HIM?

Makes no sense, unless Aemond’s instincts already latched onto Luke somehow through some show of strength that made Aemond instinctually recognize Luke as his equal. But that’s crazy, right? Aemond’s a tall, terrifying swordsman now, intimidation walking. Luke hasn’t stood a chance against him since they were ki—OOOoohhhh, ooh!

In my opinion anything that's not abo is pretty underrated, because nothing quite gets the same numbers in both bookmarks and hits like an omegaverse Lucemond. Also, I think my favourite things are always underrated even if realistically they have a lot of hits, I just always feel like good writing deserves more 😇 .

That being said, I really loved these and think they should get a little more action:
