Summary: Everyone has demons.

You were used to waking up early in the morning, but you weren’t used to waking up feeling this happy. You heaved a sigh as you turned in bed, snuggling closer to Spencer, making him chuckle as you smiled up at him.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning,” he rasped out, reaching out to brush a piece of hair behind your ear as you yawned, covering your mouth with the back of your hand.
“What time is it?”
“It’s still early,” he said “You can sleep some more.”
“No, this is better than sleeping,” you muttered into his chest and his fingers caressed your hair.

Summary: Truce can be inevitable.

It was safe to say that you were officially off your rocker after the break up. Stress? Check. No sleep? Check. Getting drunk mid-day? Check.
Looking a serial killer in the eye and threatening him?
Also check.
The constant anger was gone though. That blinding fury was gone, the fear was gone, the only thing you felt was numbness. It was as if you were watching everything happening around you from behind a glass, it was there but you couldn’t touch it or feel it.
With one exception; you missed Spencer each and every minute of the day, so you at least knew there was something left inside of you that wasn’t broken. But after what had happened, it wasn’t like you could call him. You had already left him multiple voice messages whenever you got too drunk anyway, and you were sure he had deleted them without even listening.
Not that you could blame him. He had already told you he wished he had never met you, and there was nothing you could do to change that.

Summary: Secrets can’t stay hidden forever.

The possibility of you sitting with a killer who had sworn to destroy you was scary for sure, but thinking that the said killer could be much closer to you than you had thought was enough to make your blood freeze in your veins.
It was as if you were going through the same thing that had happened with your dad ages ago, but with a small difference;
Your dad had never tried to hurt you, but this time the killer was coming after you.
Spencer stood beside you as you exhaled the smoke of your cigarette into the air, your hands still shaky but you forced yourself to focus on the police and the FBI escorting people out of the building while he kept his gaze on you.
“You might be wrong though?” you managed to ask, looking up at him, “Right? Maybe it’s not—maybe it’s not someone as close to me?”

Summary: Some memories are meant to be secrets.

To be completely honest, not hearing from Spencer for the last couple of days was affecting you more than you thought it would. You had no idea why, because everything between you was professional, except for the whole flirting.
But again, that was still one sided, so…
It was impossible to miss someone you had met so recently, and you were completely aware of that but that didn’t stop you from checking your voice mails or texts just to see whether he had left something, but there was nothing. As if all of that wasn’t enough, you couldn’t sleep well at nights so you decided to focus on your work and try to push back any thoughts of handsome FBI agents who could apparently read you like an open book.
“So if you want to hold the ceremony inside, they can of course decorate the hall and put the altar there but—“ you walked through the garden, stifling a yawn “I think the garden fits better. What do you think, Sarah?”
“I think it’s perfect!” the bride-to-be grinned at you before turning to her fiancée. “Babe?”
“I like it. How many people can fit in here?”
“You gave me a list of 200 people, but the garden itself can hold 300,” you said, “So we talked about a fall theme and I know it might be hard to visualize it with all these flowers around here, but my assistant will send you a couple of pictures after here so that you can have a clear idea.”
Your phone buzzed in your hand and you lowered your glances to check the caller ID, ready to reject the call but as soon as your eyes caught a sight of the name you felt your heart skip a beat. The excitement filled you instantly and you caught the small squeal trying to escape from your lips at the last second, but when you lifted your head to look at the couple, your expression was completely calm.
“Sorry, I have to take this,” you held up your phone, “Take a look around the garden and check if there’s anything you don’t like so that we can change it if you decide on here.”
They nodded and you walked away from them, taking a deep breath and answered the call.
“Finally professor,” Thankfully, you managed to keep your voice from going high-pitched with excitement, “I was beginning to think you forgot about me.”
There was a pause on the other line before Spencer’s voice reached your ears.
“Hi Y/N, you’re on speaker.”
You threw your head back, closing your eyes in embarrassment as you mouthed a curse, then cleared your throat.
“Of course I am. Hello the rest of the FBI whom I also thought forgot about me.” you said, looking around to the blossoming flowers and green grass in hopes of calming down, “What is it this time? Have my prayers been answered and someone finally shanked that monster?”

Summary: First impressions can be wrong.

You heaved a sigh, changing the channel while snacking on popcorn, lying on your sister’s couch. It was still early but you couldn’t sleep as usual, so as soon as the first lights of the morning spilled through your window, you left home and drove to her place.
But even the most dramatic show wasn’t enough to grab your attention.
You nibbled on your lip and unlocked your phone, then tapped on your gallery to take a look at the photo Garcia had taken when you were all drinking together and sent it to you. You didn’t even bother to try to stop the smile appearing on your face as you looked at the picture, then zoomed in to Spencer’s grin as Garcia held the shot away from him before you zoomed in on your face.
You actually looked happy. The shine in your eyes was visible even in the picture and the huge smile on your face did nothing to hide what you felt, and it looked so different to your eyes that it took you by surprise even if it was the hundredth time you were looking at the picture.
The footsteps coming closer made you snap out of it and you quickly locked your phone again before you sat up in the couch.
“Jesus, you scared me,” Mina said, pressing a hand over her chest “How long have you been here?”
“Like two hours.”
“Why?”
“Your house is my house.”
“It really isn’t,” she said and walked to the coffee maker, “You could’ve at least made coffee if you were going to break in.”
“I have a key,” you reminded her and heaved a sigh, “By the way, we might have a problem.”
“Is it mom? Dad? Work?”
“Romantic.”
She scrunched up her face, “Oh come on, it’s too early for me to deal with your romantic drama.”

Summary: Scars aren’t always visible.

Standing in the bathroom of the prison your father was kept in, you couldn’t even focus on how tense you were. It wasn’t good for you or your mental health to keep seeing him but apparently he was somehow related to what had happened at the charity ball, so you had to talk to him, as per his request.
But it wasn’t even your biggest problem.
You checked your reflection in the mirror, fixing your dress and making sure your hair looked good before you heaved a sigh.
“I’m a grown ass woman, not a high schooler,” you said, “I refuse to google signs a guy likes you. I have dignity, I have a career, I’m a freaking adult who has a favorite whiskey brand. I’m not falling down that rabbit hole.”
You threw your shoulders back and left the bathroom, but as soon as you turned the corner to the hall and the tall figure of Spencer caught your eyes, you could swear your heart started beating in your throat.
Okay.
Maybe you should’ve googled that though.
