I Am 23, I Feel The Same. Im Starting To Feel Like Its A Normal Feeling In Your Twenties. Everyone Is

I am 23, I feel the same. I’m starting to feel like it’s a normal feeling in your twenties. Everyone is going through a different path and we often compare ourselves, thinking the other ones have picked the right choice or path. Or even we think that that other thing we thought about once might have been better than what we are currently doing.

The thing is, you are finding your path now.

You might feel confused or like a failure but that is because more often than not you are thinking about all that you have not accomplished or have yet to accomplish. You are looking at an objective far away in your life. Maybe about your degree, maybe about the job you want to have with that, or maybe something else entirely different, but still far away.

Just try to switch your focus, think about what you have done today. How wonderful is that. This is not about toxic positivity and how you should always be happy and shit. It’s about treating yourself and your acts with more kindness.

If someone else was doing what you are doing right now would you criticise them the same way to do with yourself? I don’t think so.

I think it’s the alcohol speaking but sometimes I feel like I’ve failed at life even though I’m only like 20. I feel like I should’ve picked Stanford which my family would’ve felt more inclined to send me off to or idk I should’ve stayed in France or something. I don’t know I’m not really excited to start my school even thought it’s objectively a good school most people study really hard to get into. I just feel like I’m wasting my life

“Goodnight and great love to you. We see the same stars.”

— George Mallory

i think a lot of people need to take a second to understand the difference between “i was questioning my sexuality and identified as bisexual, but have since realized it doesn’t fit me and that i am actually straight” and “i call myself bisexual because it makes me look cool and quirky but i know i’m actually straight lolol”

you are not gross or a ‘faker’ for using a label you’ve since realized doesn’t fit you! you are trash for knowingly taking advantage of a marginalized label to look “cool” or get a slur pass.

Please go watch this video as it’s a very nice guide to what’s happening in the museum world right now!

Just to add: if we were to judge the capability of a country to take care of art based on their history, France and England would be the least capable. You mean the countries that during their revolutions got all their medieval art destroyed and the nobles did nothing about it because they only cared about themselves?? France?? You mean the country in which a noble sold an abbey to a German noble that took it apart piece by piece in order to fucking sell the bricks??

Yeah, sure.

its three am* and I can't sleep so I am watching youtube videos on the couch with my pup when I come across this;

it's a month old but John Oliver geo-locks his youtube videos so it only became available to me a few days ago at most.

It is a great examination of art movement, repatriation, and big old museums inability to get over themselves. I highly recommend watching it. The hardest part for me, as a museum person, was right at the end when they were showing the 'French Loot', specifically the unstretched painting. Because, yeah, I'm dealing with a lot of shitty stored art at the moment, even though my museum doesn't have much to do with repatriation etc, it still hit close to home.

unfortunately the only cc is auto-generated which blows.

*like most things on this page, it has been queued for a better time in the morning
