We've spoken of this before, but I still agree with all mah li'l heart. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE romances. I'm a total sucker for them. And I understand that said animated films that deal with romance are usually based on fairytales that involved romance.

HOWEVER...

It certainly would be nice to see an animated female protagonist who is a HUMAN BEING first, and a female second. This is partially why I'm so wary of seeing Brave. Pixar tends to have very charming and unique characters, but when we get our first female protagonist from them, what is she? A rebellious princess who is trying to prove she can kick ass even though she's a girl. Yeah... I haven't heard that one before. Okay, I haven't seen Brave yet, so I can't properly judge, but that's how the trailers are portraying Merida, that is how they are trying to market her.

My point being is... having girly parts doesn't mean you have to fall in love or try to defy love. I know romance is something many young ladies think about, but it's not ALL we think about. Young ladies can have journeys that don't involve cliche romance or forced feminism, so let's try to make some more animated films about that, shall we?

Can there be ONE animated family film from our country’s entertainment industry in which the female primary main protagonist has NOTHING to do with romance, being a love interest, marriage, proving herself to be worthy of doing something for the sake of showing women can do shit too, be the butt...
