the river flows gently as wet stones and shallow waters drift along. minghao holds your hand tightly, with both of you feet bare as you walk along the smooth, stony ground, though it a bit uncomfortable walking. minghao’s hand gave you a reassuring squeeze, you knew he wouldn’t let you go.

“i’ll step in first, okay?” letting go of your hand, minghao takes small steps, glancing back at you from time to time as his feet enter the waters. minghao gasped for a moment, the water was freezing, “woo!” he suddenly let out.

he takes another step, the water flows around. minghao turns to look at you, a smile spreads on your face when you finally get a good look at the eyes that you love to look at under his cap.

he looked like a child dancing in the rain. scooping some water then tossing it, letting some droplets of it fall rapidly. some of it hit your skin and minghao looked at you with a cheeky grin.

“it’s cold, but it’s worth it!” minghao says as he extends a hand out. you gingerly take his hand, his hand was still wet from the water.

“i’m a little a little scared,” you look down on your feet, as you are taking careful steps, you felt how the boulder beneath you losing its grip on you. you immediately tense up, “oh geez…”

“it’s okay baby, i got you,” the sound of his voice is soothing, his thumb lightly moving against your knuckles, “just take small steps,”

you dip your feet in the waters before immediately retracting, minghao immediately knew how you felt as he let out a small laugh, “you gotta do it all together!”

“i will, i will…” you let go of minghao’s hand and look at the stream. taking a deep breath, you try to calmly let your legs be submerged by the freezing water, “god it’s cold…hey!”

minghao splashes you with water from his other hand, you immediately scoop some water before throwing it back at him, “not cool hao!” you say.

“sorry sorry, just thought it’d be funny,” minghao says, his hands grabbing your face, a smile on his face.

“what are you—” minghao immediately closes your lips with his. the kiss was simple, but you couldn’t help but smile, lightly pulling him closer.

minghao lets go of your face before intertwining his hands with yours. you look at minghao, his eyes were pretty as always.

“we’re in the middle of a river, hao.”

“i know,” minghao says before kissing your lips again.

stress reached the point i started rewatching an anime I swore I won't rewatch again

jun can feel the way his heart is shaking now. how can one person make him feel so small and shy...? he isn't sure. all he knows is that every time the two of you talk, he feels that shakiness come back, the anxiety building within him. at first, he thought it had to be something else: you were smart. cool. intimidating in that way people can be sometimes when you wish you were more like them. and yet you were always kind, to him and to others, in a way that made his heart flutter in his chest. it wasn't until he was talking to his friends that he realized exactly what he felt toward you.

and last week, jeonghan was the one who whispered that he thinks you feel the same. "they're... different with you," was what he had said, a hand resting between jun's shoulder blades. "it's hard to describe, but i think it's a little obvious."

and now he's spilled coffee all over the counter and the side of his hand. you're holding his hand by the wrist under cold water in the back of the shop, and he sees the way it runs over the tips of your fingers. he knows soonyoung and wonwoo are out in the storefront, cleaning up his mess. he knows jihoon probably took over the register for you. and he's just a mess underneath your touch, heart racing at you doing basic first aid for him. he can't tell you that it's all because he heard the way soonyoung made you laugh, and today it affected him more than normal.

"you don't have to do this," he says quietly. maybe if you go back out there, he'll calm down and manage to pull through the rest of this shift. it's not the first time he's burned himself while on the job. he's just lucky it wasn't that bad.

"i want to." your fingers grow just a little tighter around his wrist, angling his hand a little better. "does it still hurt?"

he shakes his head. a moment later, he shifts his weight from leg to leg, and leans against the edge of the sink. "thank you."

to his surprise, you just lean over, head resting against him. "of course. i'd do anything for you. i care about you a lot, jun."

and it's a confession, he thinks. it feels more weighted than your usual words. he's heard you say sweet things to the others, but not like this. you're so serious and careful in saying something but not too much. he just wraps his arm around you, letting you stay as close as you want.

"... i'm free for dinner tonight," he says after a moment. "i'll, um, i'll buy. just to say thanks."

you just smile, and stay close. "alright... but we split the bill on future dates, alright?"

and, oh, the way he smiles lights up the room. "alright. then... it's a date."
