Tyler Galpin And Reader Rivals, And The Reader Working With Tyler During The Voulunteer Thing - And They
Tyler Galpin and reader rivals, and the reader working with Tyler during the voulunteer thing - and they keep being mean to each other during the day, saracstic remarks, and bumping into each other making them spill hot coffee and stuff like that - only for them to make out in the back because they are jsut in love - and just frustrated confess and its heated make uot ting?
i absolutely love this idea anon, thank you so much for requesting it <3
You can’t fight love
Pairing(s): Tyler Galpin x Reader
Warning(s): Angst, Bullying someone because you like them trope, Tyler and Reader both being arseholes to each other, Idiots in love trope, Talks of stabbing, mention of blowing yourself up, Eventual admission of feelings and make out session, Unedited.
Additional Notes: I wrote this whilst high on pain meds, so if it’s terrible I apologise, but it was a distraction I desperately needed so thank you anon <3 (look at his sweet little face in the gif)
Word Count: a lot. i mean it, this is long.

You stared down at the paper you were holding, willing the printed words to morph in to something - anything - else, just hoping that there had been a horrible mistake or someone was going to tell you that it was just a joke.
You’d take literally anywhere else but there.
“Hey y/n! What’ve you got?” Enid’s joyful voice filled your ears, her blue and pink dyed hair bouncing around her face as she came to a stop in front of you.
Not wanting to say it out loud because then it would make it that bit more real, you simply turned the paper around. Ever the expressive individual, the young werewolf’s eyebrows nearly hit her hairline with how high they raised. “The Weathervane?! But that means-“
“Don’t.” You spoke through gritted teeth, “Don’t even say it.”
Enid sighed, tilting her head sideways.
"You'll give in eventually y/n. I know you will. Anyway," Enid said, rolling her eyes before excitedly raising her own piece of paper towards you, "I've got Pilgrim World."
Your eye actually twitched at that.
Noticing this, Enid lowered her paper, practically shoving it behind her back to guard it as though you were going to tackle her to the ground for it at any given second.
“Well, look on the bright side, at least you didn’t get assigned to Uriah's Heap like Wednesday.” She grimaced at the mere thought of the place.
“I think I’d rather take the stuffed, dead animals as company to be completely honest.”
Enid gave you a look, “Oh please. The sooner that you admit that you don’t actually hate that boy but are just using it as a way to deflect your true feelings for him, the better. For everyone.”

Begrudgingly, you shoved open the heavy doors that welcomed people into the Weathervane coffee shop.
It was already quite active inside, the townspeople of Jericho popping in for their morning coffees as well as the students of Nevermore doing the same before going to their assigned places.
Your body faced the window, watching as your classmates all went in different directions to complete their volunteer work and just wishing that you were the person you could see walking in the total opposite direction to the coffee shop.
“You must be the volunteer they’ve sent for the day,” The barista said whilst wiping down a machine when he spotted the striped Nevermore uniform, immediately going into the revised and reversed welcome speech, “Before you start working, please note that you cannot use any kind of enhanced ability you may have in this space. Treat all customers equally and with respect. There’s a spare employee uniform in the back you can get changed into. Please leave any of your personal belongings in there too—“
He abruptly stopped talking when you turned around however, his - annoyingly - beautiful green eyes meeting yours.
“You.”
There were a few moments of silence between the pair of you, neither of you feeling like being the one to initiate further conversation.
“You’ve got to be joking. Out of every possible person that lurks around that school, they assign you.”
You scoffed, making your way over to the back rooms to get changed, “It’s nice to see you too Galpin! Don’t you know just how to make someone feel welcome.”

“It’s not hard Y/N,” Tyler explained like he was taking to a child, “If someone orders a cappuccino, you press the button that says cappuccino. If someone orders a latte, you press the buttons that says latte.”
You’d only been in the same proximity as one another for ten minutes or so at this point, and for every second of that Tyler had been avoiding talking to you like you had the plague, until right now.
You both stood behind the counter, burgundy aprons covering your light brown uniforms as you were forced to listen to Tyler’s frustratingly attractive voice order you about.
Rolling your eyes at him, you turned around, picking up one of the empty cups from where they were stacked and placing it onto the machine, “I figured that out, I’m not 5 years old.”
“Oh yeah? Then why do you act like it?”
You whipped around to face him, “Oh I act like a 5 year old, do I?”
Tyler put his hand to his forehead, massaging his temples as he really tried to suppress the sudden urge he had to strangle you on the spot. It wouldn’t be the best look for business now, would it?
“Just take people’s orders, put the money in the cash register and give them their drinks, okay?” Tyler eventually said, “And at least try to look like you’re not thinking about stabbing them whilst you do.”
You gave Tyler a toothy smile, albeit a sarcastic one, “The only person in this shop that I wish to stab is you.”
Not wanting to take any chances, and since he didn’t know what your abilities were, Tyler backed away slightly, picking up an empty try before exiting from behind the counter to clear away any cups that had been left on tables.
You plastered a - clearly fake - enthusiastic smile on your face, walking over to the cash register before greeting the next customer.
Surprisingly ,things went quite smoothly for a while after that. It had been an hour since you last spoke to Tyler, which was a win in your books, and you hadn’t had any kind of complaints from anyone you’d served, another win.
Of course, things never stay good forever however, and they most certainly didn’t.
"There you go, one black coffee Sir."
The customer offered you thanks before turning on their heel and walking over to one of the unoccupied tables in the coffee shop. You moved on to the next person in the queue, still managing to keep your voice light and friendly, the continued absence of a certain curly haired boy almost certainly helping with that, "Hi! What can I get for you today?"
“Could I get a cappuccino, please?”
“Of course!” You replied pleasantly, grabbing a cup and walking over to the machine.
You pressed the appropriate button, expecting the correct liquid to seep from the machine and into the cup that awaited it at the bottom. However, it seemed as though something or someone had it out for you today because the machine made a sputtering noise, nothing but a bubble forming at the place the hot liquid would normal exit from.
Just to be sure you hadn’t mis-clicked, and not wanting to engage in a conversation with Tyler you pressed on the button again, although this time when the bubble appeared so did a steady stream of smoke from the machine.
Nothing but panic coursed through every part of your being, you calling out for your co-worker for the day as you knew that this was a problem that couldn't just simply be ignored.
Tyler materialised from where he’d been grabbing something from the back, the boxes falling to the floor as he assessed the situation.
“What the hell did you do?!” He exclaimed, practically running over to the smoking machine.
“I just pressed the cappuccino button, like I've been doing all day,” You defensively answered, “That’s all. I haven’t touched anything else.”
“Well clearly you have otherwise the machine wouldn’t be puffing like it had decided to smoke an entire pack of cigarettes all of a sudden.”
Annoyed at his blatant dismissal of your recollection of events, you gritted your teeth, “I didn’t do anything wrong Galpin.”
"Well it seems funny that the machine would choose this day of all days to blow itself up, when there hasn't been a single problem with it since I started working here, doesn't it?"
"Maybe it just finally hit its' breaking point after having to work with you everyday. I'd blow myself up too if that was the case."
Your bickering was interrupted by an obviously fake clearing of the throat, a customer standing at the counter, just staring at the both of you.
“I don’t know what kind of lovers tiff you two are going through at the moment, and to be quite frank, I don’t want to know,” The lady said, readjusting the scarf that hugged her neck, “Can I please just get my black coffee.”
She continued to dart her eyes between both yours and Tyler’s faces, neither of you being able to hide how infuriated you were with the other.
“And make it to go.”
Tyler took a deep breath in, getting to work on the woman’s order without the aid of the machine. Whilst the water was boiling, he retrieved a tray from under the counter.
“Just go and clear some tables and put everything that needs washing in the back,” Tyler said exasperatedly, “It’ll be pretty hard for you to mess that up.”
You snatched the plastic tray out of his outstretched hand, giving him a glare as you did so.

After successfully clearing away all of the empty cups and putting the dishwasher on, you made your way back round to behind the counter, Tyler’s back towards you whilst he conversed with someone.
You decided to do something helpful and restock the area behind the counter that harboured clean cups, saucers, spoons, napkins, anything that could be requested by a customer. Tyler noticed that you had joined him.
“Take 15 minutes, get a drink, do whatever you need to do, just stay out of my way.”
“Wow okay, that started out quite nice, but you just couldn’t help yourself could you.”
Tyler just shrugged, not even looking at you and instead making sure that one spot on the machine was very polished.
“Coffee?”
“I don’t like it.”
“I know,” Tyler said matter-of-factly, “That’s why I offered you one.”
Scoffing, you grumpily walked away from the counter, your feet hitting the floor quite harshly with every step. There were a few empty booths, you choosing the one right at the end so you’d be left alone.
Wandering around the streets of Jericho town centre, there were various Nevermore students that had either fully skived off of their volunteer work or taken a ‘quick break’ that had led to them skiving off of their volunteer work. Oh how you wished you were out there with them.
“Here.”
You were interrupted from your own thoughts as a cup was place down on the table in front of you. Turning your head, Tyler was the last person you expected to see.
Confusedly, you raised an eyebrow at him, “Thanks, but I literally just said I don’t like coffee.”
He didn’t say anything in response, instead just turning on his heel and stalking back over the the counter to serve a customer.
Placing your hands around the warm cup, you dragged it across the wooden table so it was closer to you. Now taking notice of the smell, you could tell that it was definitely not coffee, but instead a steamy cup of hot chocolate.
Your head whipped around to Tyler, seeing him smile at a customer as he handed them their order.
If there was ever someone who could have their face plastered next to the textbook definition of mixed signals it was the boy you were currently watching work behind the counter.
God he frustrated you.
Him and his green eyes. Him and his messy, curly hair that framed his forehead. Him and his overly cute moles that decorated one side of his jaw.
Him and his clear adversary to your company.
"Y/N! Back to work!"
At the summoning of your presence, you sighed before sliding your way off of the comfy booth seat, dragging the now empty cup with you. You gave it a swirl out, placing it into the dishwasher to be properly cleaned with the next load of stained and watermarked porcelain.
You were on your way back out to the front of the shop when your body collided with something, sending you straight to the ground. Hot liquid dripped all over your body, burning against your exposed skin and ruining the material of your uniform.
Tyler stared down at you, holding a tray full of cups that were now on their sides, the contents of which were now either on you or the floor.
“What the—,” Tyler cut himself off, shaking his head at the situation, “We need to get you cleaned up - quickly.”
Glancing round and seeing there was no new customers to serve, everyone contentedly drinking at their chosen tables, Tyler ushered you into the back room, immediately slamming cupboard doors open and shut to search for what he wanted.
He came back over to you, getting to work on dabbing the liquid off of your skin.
“I can do it myself.”
“I’m trying to help you Y/N, stay still.”
He continued to wipe at you with the towel he had found, anger and frustration towards him that had been bubbling away underneath your skin all day threatening to explode. Even more so when he was so insistent on now helping you.
“You know, if you had just watched where you were going we wouldn’t be in this situation!”
You stepped forwards, pressing your finger against his chest accusingly.
Tyler just scoffed, “If you hadn’t have been stood in my way for no reason whatsoever, I wouldn’t have walked into you!”
Chests heaving from anger and the effort from shouting, it was only then that you both realised just how close you’d got over the last few seconds. In fact, you were so close that the tips of your noses were almost touching.
Recoiling at the proximity, you ended up with your back hitting the coat rack, the padded clothing ensuring you didn’t hit the wall.
It took a while for your breathing pattern to become normal again, both of you just staring at one another as the already small room seemed to grow even smaller from the thick tension brewing within its walls.
“What did I ever do to you to make you hate me?” You asked, your voice much more vulnerable and timid than it had been moments ago.
Tyler’s eyes softened at your tone, the muscles in his face relaxing as all of the tension disappeared from his body. “I don’t hate you y/n.”
“It sure seems like you do to me Tyler.”
The boy sighed, “I don’t. I don’t hate you.”
“Yeah, sure, because being snarky with me every time I try to engage in any kind of conversation with you just screams let’s be best friends now doesn’t it.”
“Y/N,” Tyler said softly, grabbing a hold of your arms to hold you in front of him, “I don’t hate you.”
He paused, shutting his eyes momentarily whilst he took a deep breath to compose himself, “And I know that sounds ridiculous when I haven’t given you any reason to think otherwise.”
You lips parted, ready to ask him about his motive behind the hot chocolate gesture before shutting them when you ultimately decided against it.
“For all of my life, I’ve been told to be wary of Outcasts. People that don’t fit in, people that don’t belong here, people that have strange abilities,” Tyler halted his words but physically moved towards you slightly, “Then I saw you.”
You didn’t say anything, you just stayed where you were, pressed against the coats as he slowly made his way over to you.
“I saw you walking past here wearing that strange striped uniform with a group of your friends. You came into the shop, sat in one of the booths near the window. You ordered a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and I remember putting a few extra than usual on there,” He let out a breathy laugh, replaying the clear memory over in his head, “And then you laughed at something one of your friends had said.”
Tyler shook his head, the corners of his lips upturned, “I felt like all of the air had been punched out of my lungs.”
“I’ve never felt anything that strongly before, especially for someone I hadn’t even properly spoken to, let alone met, and I didn’t know how to deal with it,” He said, his eyes so intensely focused on yours that it was causing goosebump to form on your arms, “So, like an idiot, I decided that the best thing to do would be to treat you like shit until those feelings went away.”
He took a few breaths, his heart rate having picked up over the course of his declaration.
“But they never did.”
Frozen to the spot, you couldn’t do anything but listen to every word, his voice almost hypnotising you.
“Listen. You’re insufferable, clumsy, hot headed, impulsive, and utterly terrible at making hot drinks,” Tyler spoke his body now so close to your own that you could feel the heat radiating from him. His eyes remained totally focused on yours, you barely blinking under the intensity of his gaze, “But I am unmistakably and undoubtedly in love with you.”
Tyler was practically whispering at this point, although you were close enough to him that you heard everything loud and clear.
Nothing was said for a few beats, the only sound in the room being that of your combined breaths, both of you digesting what had just been said.
“You’re such an idiot Galpin.”
Tyler was about to protest that statement when arms flung around his neck, you effectively shutting him off.
The next thing you knew, both of your lips had been put together, desperation the main culprit behind your actions. It was heated, it was passionate and most of all, it felt right. All of the little throw away comments, all of the deflection of true feelings, all of the tension that had been building up and building up between the two of you had hit its breaking point, resulting in the frantic embrace you currently held one another in.
You gripped at Tyler’s hair, pulling it and feeling his lips vibrate as a moan passed through them. Greedily, you yanked a bit firmer this time, wanting to hear the sound again.
Shortly after, your body was pressed against one of the counters, it not taking long for Tyler to grip ahold of your thighs and place you on top of it. Her slotted his own body between your legs, keeping one of his hands on your hip as his other caressed your jaw.
You pulled your head back, glimpsing at Tyler’s hair all messed up, his lips having puffed up from your own, a flush to his cheeks that wasn’t there before, and your heart swelled.
“I love you too Galpin,” You admitted, leaning your forehead against his, “You absolute idiot.”

the great war , tyler galpin x reader
pairing: tyler galpin x reader
summary: finding out tyler’s been the hyde all along and none of it was real.
“it turned into something bigger. some where in the haze , got a sense i’ve been betrayed.”

Tyler looked down at you with his eyes wide. You watched him , tears in your eyes as he circled you like prey— nothing behind his emotionless expression.
“It was you.” You muttered , shaking your head as you tried connecting all the pieces. “You’ve. . . you’ve hurt people. You’ve lied.”
Your heart hammered in your chest as the news washed over you like a bad fever. Chills dancing up your spine as he watched you unbelievably , listening to you but showing no signs of actually caring.
“I cried to you when Rowan left.” Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion , remembering how he engulfed you in his arms when you cried about your bestfriend. You remember how he held you , shushing you and promising you it would all be okay.
The memory used to be a sweet one. One that you told Xavier and Ajax when they said you shouldn’t trust someone like Tyler Galpin , a judgemental ‘normie.’
Turns out , he wasn’t a normie at all.
“I guess this is a lesson in not trusting people , right?” Tyler cocked his head to the side. “You made it too easy. All I had to do was be nice to you , and you sung the secrets out like a canary.”
Your hands balled into fist at your side. You were scared at what he’d to do you. If you were the next victim on his list. The boy you thought you knew , hadn’t been real at all. “How could you?”
Tyler rolled his eyes. “You should’ve walked away when you had the chance , Y/N.”
“But I didn’t because I cared about you!” You defended. “I trusted you.” The heaviness in your heart hurt too much to look at him , the way his body was crouched over in a defensive position. He didn’t even look at you like you were human.
“I told you to leave that night and you didn’t!” Tyler argued , shaking his head quickly. “I gave you the chance but you just couldn’t stay away.”
Everything started making sense. Throughout the whole semester , Tyler had been there. You told him things about Wednesday and Enid , you told him about Xavier and most of the time you were just venting. You told him everything about Nevermore without even meaning to— because you thought you were just venting to him , someone who you cared about and maybe could’ve loved. . . Looking back at it , it made your stomach sick.
“Then why did you. . .” your bottom lip trembled. “Then why did you kiss me that night?”
“None of it was real.” Tyler admitted as he stood in place , a tiny sense of guilt creeping up the back of his neck once he looked into your teary eyes. “But–” he hesitated. “Sometimes I wish it was.”
His words felt heavy. There was something behind it that made you think that maybe , it hadn’t all been for nothing. But you couldn’t forgive him for all that he had done , all that he lied about. Even now as he stood in front of you , he didn’t look like the Tyler you met at the coffee shop last spring. He was darker , disconnected. Troubled.
“How long?” You asked him.
“The whole time.”
You heard the commotion start to ensue in the background. Tyler’s eyes shot towards the school then looked at you. “If you go now then I’ll let you.” Tyler upturned his nose. “But this is the last time.”
Before you turned around , you glanced at him one last time. Your chest beating and your mind hazy. “I always had a feeling from that day we met , that’d somehow you’d hurt me.”
“I guess you should’ve listened to it.”

~Admin Des

Since the day of their discovery, wolves and humans lived together in harmony. It had been many years ago, a lone small wolf was tired of hiding so he came out to the world. Humans at first didn’t take kindly to it. There were a few outburst, rage, attacks of each species until one day it was decided that they would live amongst each other in peace. Each specie had its own split of the town, wolves lived on one side, humans the other. There was a small central area where both could spend time and reside, however it was unlikely for a human to be in wolf territory and vise versa. However as the years went on some wolves used their strength to scare and tower over humans, even with the peace kept certain wolves and humans didn’t get along.
You didn’t care for any of the chaos and drama that was the difference between species. There was a lot of protest for wolves to be sent away, locked away or even killed. Sighing, you had chose to ignore it all. You didn’t exactly like wolves, but you didn’t wish death upon them. You had met a few in your past, to the point where you had actually had a friend or two that were wolves. Even having some as friends your human friends had disapproved.
“Look I get that you’re ‘friends’ but that doesn’t excuse how they have been in the past.” You friend Yeri explain as she started to stir her drink around.
You huffed. “What do you have against them? I just want to know? I mean sure some can be absolute dicks, but what did they do to you.”
“They haven’t done anything yet, but they could.” She brought her drink to her lips, staring out the window of the coffee shop.
“Doesn’t make them bad, but you do you.” You picked your drink up to your lips following her eyes out the window. The two of you had gone to the town central, where both wolves and humans would reside. Currently across the street at the park there was a protest going on, a small group of humans rallying for wolves to be sent away. You shook your head and rolled your eyes. “Look I’m going to go meet up with Hyungwon so don’t keep up.” Before giving her a chance to respond to you, you had risen to your feet and left the cafe. You walked down the street, past the protesters, and went over to the small book store across the way. Hyungwon had asked you to meet you here at around roughly 5 o’clock. It was ten minutes till so you decided you’d walk around the store and see if anything peeked your interest.
Walking around the store you found a few books here and there that you stopped to look at. You pulled a book off the shelf and started to flip through the pages. After a few minutes of looking this book over you felt a light tap on your shoulder. You stopped and looked up. “Hey.” Hyungwon smiled.
“Hey, how are you?” You put the book down.
“Ah you know, dead on the inside, mainly because of the protesters out there.” He nodded at the window, you turned around to see that the protest had gotten bigger.
You sigh. “Well then. Shall we head off then?” Hyungwon nodded as he turned and lead the way out of the store. He had lightly told you some ideas he had in mind, mainly he want you to meet the other friends he had. You could only think of was how much shit Yeri was going to give you later for making more friends with wolves. She didn’t have to know.
The two of you came to a small table in the back of a restaurant where three others sat. “Oh hey Hyungwon, who’s this with you.” A boy with blonde hair spoke smiling at you.
“This is (Y/N).” Hyungwon gestured towards each of them. “Blondie is Jooheon, the brunette sitting next to him is Changkyun and that weird dark haired one is Minhyuk.” You chuckled about Hyungwon’s way of introducing each of the boys.
“Don’t have to be so rude.” Minhyuk pipped in.
“I’m just being factual.” Hyungwon stated as the two of you took your seats. You reached over and grabbed a menu, hoping to figure out something to eat.
“What can I get for you?” Someone spoke above you, you jumped looking up and meeting eyes with the waiter.
“Uh, I’ll just have some ramen.” You randomly decided, distracted entirely by his features.
He started to jot it down before smiling. “I love ramen, good choice.” He looked at Hyungwon. “For you?”
“The same.” Hyungwon answered closing his menu and handing it off to him. The waiter smiled and nodded, jotting down Hyungwon’s order before leaving. “I’m assuming you guys must have already ordered?” The others nodded. When Hyungwon’s attention went back to you, you had kept looking off in the direction of where the waiter went, deep down you felt something when he had looked at you, but you shook it off, looking back at Hyungwon.
When you saw him staring back at you, you froze. “What?”
“You know the thing about wolves is that they have a soulmate that they’re connected to right?” Hyungwon spoke with careful words.
“They meet their soulmate when they first touch, blah blah blah, I know Hyungwon I know.”
“Don’t go falling for him then, it’s only going to hurt you, ya know, being human and all you have no real chance.” You reached over and smacked him. He lightly chuckled at you before turning his attention to the rest of the table.
The rest of lunch went by fairly quickly, you guys all made jokes, told weird stories, you learned more about the lifestyle of a wolf and so on. Shortly you paid for your food and the five of you left, heading off to elsewhere. Half way down the street there was shouting from behind, you all decided to stop and turn around to see the waiter from before running towards you, waving something in his hand. When he finally caught up he walked to you. “You forgot your card.” He handed it towards you.
“Oh, well shit that’s important, thank you.” You smiled reaching out to take it. When taking your card back your fingers touched, causing both of your eyes to widen.
“How?” He muttered softly, your eyes widen when it clicked in your head what was going on. Hyungwon noticed the situation and decided to step in between the two of you.
“Well thank you, we should be going, come on (Y/N).” He started to shove you away from the waiter, who’s name you never learned, urging you to move forward. You kept looking back every now and again, while Hyungwon kept pushing you forward. Once you were at a far distance he stopped you and had you stand in front of him. “(Y/N), this is very serious, did you just then feel something?”
You carefully brought your eyes over to meet his gaze. Slowly you nodded. “Am I not supposed to?”
Hyungwon quickly shook his head. “No, you’re not supposed to you’re a human, you can’t possibly be soulmates with a wolf.”
You sat there in confusion taking in what Hyungwon had just said. “Soulmate?” Truth be told you never fully understood anything about the whole soulmate thing with wolves, you just knew a human and a wolf could never be soulmates, you never really knew why they couldn’t. Looking around you felt weird, sweaty almost. “Hyungwon what’s going on?”
“Your body is reacting to you having a soulmate now, never thought I would see this being a thing.” He looked over to the others. “What do you think we should do?”
“Clearly you can’t keep them away now, so let’s bring him to your home and see what happens?” Minhyuk suggested.
“We should get a hold of Hyunwoo, he’d be the best person to have here when all of this is happening.” Jooheon mentioned.
Hyungwon nodded. “Then you get in contact with him, Minhyuk you and Changkyun go back and get the waiter, I’ll take (Y/N) to my home, everyone meet there.” Minhyuk, Changkyun and Jooheon nodded each heading off to do what they were told, while Hyungwon took a hold of your hand having you follow him. Still feeling off, as you got dragged down the street, you had no idea what everything meant, but how is a human supposed to be a soulmate to a wolf?

Anonymous asked: So we're both bored and the second heatwave is getting to us so how about some Six comfort fics. I've picked a few prompts that I like the look off, so have fun.
"Don't come near me, you might get sick." "I'm not worried about getting sick"
summary: Six just has to come over at the absolute worst of times as it is, but his crowning achievement really has to be coming over to see you when you've got a belting cold.
tws: sickness, swearing
Oh, it was misery, the middle of a heatwave and you were inflicted with one of, if not the, worst colds you had ever had recently; it started out with a little bit of a cough and a blocked nose, but that soon turned to an awful fever, headaches, dizziness, nausea, a lack of appetite, sweating something awful, struggling to breathe, a cough, sneezing and a snotty nose. You did try to keep up your normal routine, but as it got worse, you found yourself being less and less able to actually do anything at all; you would just sit around watching shitty horror films and eating ice cream, as that was the only thing that seemed to calm your throat down even the slightest.
You texted your boyfriend about it, telling him not to come over, not to risk it especially not when he was being hunted by damn near every bounty hunter and any son of a bitch who wanted even the smallest bit of cash or fame or notoriety; the last fucking thing he needed on his ass right now was an absolutely belting cold that would render him bed ridden for at least a week. You told him not to bother, not to think about it in the slightest, not to bother.
It was creeping close to the evening when the door went, and although you wanted to, you couldn't get up to answer it, so you left it, thinking that if it was that important then whoever it was would contact you; there was a little commotion outside, but you took no notice, thinking it was just the local kids playing in the street due to the heat. You rolled over onto your side, coughing harshly until you gagged and retched; it wasn't until you heard the harsh thud on your bedroom floor that you turned over, grumbling softly.
Covered in dirt, Six brushed himself off as he cleared his throat and crossed the room, sitting down on the chair beside your bed, his legs spread and his hands clasped between his knees as he chewed at the inside of his lip. "I had to see you."
"You shouldn't," you weakly huffed, the breath rattling and wheezing. "Don't come near me, you might get sick."
"I'm not worried about getting sick," he shook his head, running a hand through his hair before he leaned over and gently placed the back of his hand to your forehead, a frown coming to his lips.
You were fucking boiling. A heatwave and a fever was certainly not a good concoction. When he pulled his hand away, he could feel your sweat against his skin, and he grumbled; he got up, turned the ceiling fan onto its fastest setting, and disappeared for a moment.
You heard the bathroom tap running, heard him run something under it before wringing it out a little, and you grumbled; everything felt like it was spinning, you couldn't stop coughing, it was misery. But when Six came back armed with a wet flannel, you managed to crack a small smile, grumbling softly when he shoved you onto your back and put the flannel on your forehead; it was cold against your skin, and you could feel the droplets run down you for a moment. Mixed with the cold air from the fan, it seemed like fucking heaven if you were honest.
Six took a seat in the chair again, stretching out so that he could cross his ankles as he folded his arms across his chest and relaxed against the peeling faux leather; he stole a look at you, and grabbed the television remote. He flicked it on, turning the volume down low and switching the channel to the news, and he sighed.
"Get some rest. I'll make dinner later."
"Court-"
"I said, get some rest." He glared at you as his voice got low and harsh, shaking his head. "Get some rest. I'll make dinner later."
"But-"
"If you don't get some rest, I'll get in that fucking bed with you."
"Fine," you huffed, sighing heavily and daring to smile at him. Your voice was weak and you felt like you were going to be sick, but you still managed to find enough energy to smile at him, to slowly reach out and offer him your hand. "You sure you're not worried about getting sick?"
"Very."
"Then maybe..." you let out a harsh sniff, one that sounded like there was a rock in your nose rattling around. "Maybe... if the fever dies down... we can cuddle?"
"Maybe." He took your hand, holding it tightly as he kept his eye on the news.

“So, are we going to get out of here?” Your date asks abruptly.
“I’m sorry?” You question, setting down your half-finished martini.
“You can finish your drink. Then we should go.”
“Oh… this is the first date…?” you remind him, feeling a little uncomfortable under his expectant look. “We’re just getting to know one another.”
He huffs, pursing his lips in clear irritation. “Come on now. Let’s not do this. The whole coy girl routine might work with a less attractive guy, but we both know you want to come home with me. Girls like you always do.”
“Girls like me?” You question, a sinking feeling in your stomach.
He gives you a look, eyes slowly falling down your body. He doesn’t say anything but you know exactly what he means. That realization feels like a punch to the gut, all the air leaving your lungs.
“Don’t be offended, you’ve got a pretty face.” he adds, reaching up to touch your cheek. You jerk back, bumping into someone behind you. “I’m not trying to neg you, just stating the truth. I know you want the chance to be with me. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have swiped right.”
You can’t even formulate a response, embarrassed and ashamed all at once. The anger you feel is secondary to the humiliation. You press your lips together tightly, willing yourself not to cry even though you can feel that wave of emotion crawling up your throat.
“Hey, sweetheart. This guy bothering you?” A new voice asks.
You turn towards the sound, surprised to see a handsome blonde man looking intently at you. He’s dressed in an expensive suit that fits his body like a glove, highlighting his broad chest and slim hips. You stare at him, confused and surprised as he continues to watch you with steady blue eyes and a charming smile.
“Excuse me,” your date says, folding his arms across his chest.
The blonde man spares him a brief glance, lip curling up in obvious disgust.
“You’re excused,” he returns, sliding between the two of you smoothly. He doesn’t crowd your space, leaving a respectful distance between your bodies but he does effectively block your view of the other man. “Can I buy you a drink?” He continues like he didn’t just interrupt your date. “You look like a top shelf kind of girl.”
“I’m sorry…” you trail off.
“Oh, how rude of me. I’m Jacob,” he tells you, offering his hand as he raises the other to flag down the bartender. You accept it, compelled by good manners and habit. He smiles, fingertips stroking your palm briefly before pulling away. When he stares at you expectantly you realize he’s waiting for you to give him your name. After you tell him it, he repeats it back to you, keeping his smile.
“Ok dude, what the fuck?” Your date demands.
You had almost forgotten about him. Jacob half turns to face him, head cocked to the side. “Walk away,” he instructs. His tone is even but you can see the way a muscle in his cheek jumps.
“That’s my girl you’re talking to.”
“Let's ask her.” Jacob looks back at you. “This your guy, sweetheart?”
You hesitate to respond before shaking your head, aware more people have turned to watch what’s happening.
“Seems like she doesn’t agree. So… walk away.” Jacob encourages.
Your date looks around, the hand at his side shaking. He’s angry. For a second you think he might cause a scene, but then he blows out a harsh breath.
“Whatever, you can have her,” he says, backing away, muttering something under his breath that you don't catch. You suspect whatever he said isn’t kind and that’s confirmed by the way Jacob stiffens briefly. He doesn’t look back at you until your date disappears into the crowd.
“Some men have no class.” He shakes his head, offering a smile. “So about that shot. You like tequila?” He asks as the bartender stops in front of you.
“Uh… I think?” You offer as your brain tries to catch up with everything that's happened so far.
“Let’s find out,” he says with a wink.
He orders two shots of a tequila brand you’ve never heard of. You stare at the crisp 100-dollar bill he sets on the counter and then look back up at him. He seems so relaxed leaning against the bar like he's the one who's been on a date with you for the past hour and not a perfect stranger. Even though he's stupidly handsome you feel oddly at ease in his presence. Normally men that looked like that made you incredibly nervous.
“You don’t have to do this,” you tell him, tapping your fingers against the bar before you realize what you're doing. You curl your hand into a loose fist to stop the anxious gesture. There’s no way he was interested in you; he was just trying to help. “I mean, I appreciate it,” you rush to add when his brows raise. "You probably have a date or something else, um, going on."
“We don’t know each other well yet,” he says, stepping closer and dropping his hand to cover yours. “But sweetheart, I don’t do anything I don’t want to.”
The intense way he speaks coupled with the feel of his fingertips dragging over the back of your hand wakes your body up. An unexpected wave of desire rushes under your skin and you stare transfixed by his blue eyes . When he presses the shot into your hand a second later you take it and down it back automatically. You expect it to burn, but it’s smooth, leaving a trail of warmth from your mouth down to the pit of your stomach.
Jacob stares at you amused. “That was a 30 dollar shot.”
“Oh my god,” you cover your mouth embarrassed but he just laughs. “I was supposed to sip it wasn’t I?”
“No,” he says, knocking his back.
The brief appearance of his tongue when it sweeps along his bottom lip has your breathing turning shallow. Not even 10 minutes ago you were disgusted by your date's assumption that you’d go home with him and yet here you are, certain you’d leave with Jacob if he asked you to. He seems to know it too from the way his eyes sparkle as they wander down your body and back up to your face. It’s not the same kind of gross assessment of your date. It’s something softer but no less wanting.
“Why did you help me?” You blurt out, catching the both of you by surprise.
He shrugs and looks away. “That guy was a jerk. You don’t deserve to be treated that way. No one does.”
Hesitantly, you reach out and touch his arm. He looks back at you surprised. “You’re very kind, Jacob. Not a lot of people would have stepped in.”
“Sure they would have,” he dismisses.
“No, they really wouldn’t,” you insist, taking a step closer to him. “I…I know you’re just being nice, but I appreciate it.”
“I’m not always a good guy,” he tells you.
“I think you are.”
“You really are sweet, aren’t you?” he questions.
Something shifts in his expression, a subtle change in the tension of his jaw and the look in his eyes. He touches your cheek just like your date did, the catch of his calloused fingers against the soft skin sending your heart fluttering. For one wild second you think he’s going to kiss you but then he pulls away, shaking his head. Noise from the bar rushes back in and you’re aware of everyone else around you again. The charming smile is back on Jacob’s face as he signals for the bartender again. He pays the open tab left by your date before you can protest.
“You deserve better than us,” he tells you seriously, surprising you by leaning forward to brush his mouth over the corner of your lips.
The skin where his lips touched your tingles. He’s gone before you stop him, disappearing into the crowded bar like smoke in the air.
