The first older gay guy I saw on film was Coach Schneider, the sadistic gym teacher in Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge. Having made Jesse’s school life a misery, Schneider subsequently appears in the teenager’s dreams, wearing a studded leather vest to drag Jesse out of some sleazy downtown bar and throw him back into the gym. Course this was the 80s, so it all ended bloodily for Schneider. But I like to think there’s a Director’s Cut where Schneider avoids his fate by failing to notice Jesse in the bar because the coach is way too busy negotiating an open relationship with some leather daddy.

this will be either the most inspiring or depressing thing you read all weekend: Great After 50: Five Gay Men Who Keep The Heads Turning personally I won’t be going to the gym five or six days a week in my 50s, hiding from carbs and cheese, and I hope I’ll care less about being attractive to strangers. but it’s what these guys are into, so good luck to em.
