Man the animal related magic characters in this show really do act like it. Tragic Mick talks deep and slow and scoots his weight around and grumbles through his whiskers. Monty talks back and loves shiny stars and swivels his head to the side when he's nervous and holds grudges and brings the boy he likes silly things he also likes (new books to read).
