honestly i skipped the summon so i dont have a screenshot lol, and id already tapped out of the screen before i had the thought of 'maybe i should screenshot' so here.

coincidentally, i just started the story where we meet him for the first time lol. took those gems gained from the fight and then nom. also i think my characters are criminally underleveled. Like. i do lessons often when it gets refilled but ive been putting it towards leveling other characters. like.

so i looked at titles on the wiki. and people had really cool titles with their own stuff. and i kind of wanted my own.

i groovified like the ceremonial robes riddle and the like normal uniform one. i dont know what the name of it is called but like the average uniform where the only difference is the color shirt and stuff i think (if you zoom in, you can see a groovified dorm uniform riddle lol)

but so that kinda means i wasted a bunch of materials for characters im never using

My normal team:

Riddle (Dorm Uniform), Epel (Dorm Uniform), Idia(? I think) apprentice chef i think w/ ace, and the 5th is usually support character (as in someone else's) i think but for lessons i had like labwear kalim.

but. uh. so now i have azul. so i guess i need to replace one of the chefs??? (i mean ace can still be there during lessons since there's room but he probably wont be used again. ...wonder if itd ever be a good idea in games to have a button to undo all the materials you spent on something so you can re-use it)

probably ace because they're both red and green (don't ask me what spells there are i dont know, im horrible at remembering what does what in turn-based games, its a godsend theres auto)

Why Yosano's ability restriction is self-imposed

Anyway.

For a brief summary of Yosano's ability "Thou shalt not die" according to the original intro, it is an ability that can heal any injury as long as the person recieving it is close to death, which often requires Yosano to 'half-kill' them using her epic chainsaws.

HOWEVER, I believe that this restriction is self-imposed. I.e, Yosano doesn't *have to* half-kill people to heal them.

This wasn't true in Yosano's backstory arc, however.

In the backstory arc, we see Yosano healing soldiers even when they aren't close to death.

The most obvious conclusion is that the severe trauma she got after Tachihara's brother's death lead to her ability being restricted, right? And I figured it happened at this specific panel-

Eventually, Tachihara's brother commits su!c!de, which leads to Yosano losing a lot of her memory of what came afterward, and it's presumed that her ability restricted itself at that time, due to the unresolved trauma.

But.

I think it's the opposite.

Yosano's ability 'cheapens' the lives of those around her, because she can save them even if they're seconds from death. She's too 'correct', something that can't function in a fundamentally broken world. That was Tachihara's brother's su!cid!e note.

This panel is from when Yosano is 14, just as she's being rescued from the facility she was kept at post-war. She clearly states, "My ability can easily save lives...so...the lives of those in proximity end up as something cheap." She believes she has no right to live because her existence leads to only suffering for those around her.

Ranpo tells her that at the detective agency, it wouldn't matter what her ability was. She wouldn't need to use it, because it was the only place in the world that would allow her to live because of her kindness and want to help people, simply, rather than twisting it into immortality.

I don't believe that someone who has suffered so much, seen so much death first-hand, when she was so young, would ever have any true delight in hurting people. I don't believe Yosano is masochistic or insane - her act of half-killing people is something that, in her mind, gives her the right to use her ability, because they would literally die if she did nothing.

Instead, it's her kindness that leads to her using her ability so gruesomely. She can't bear to cheapen someone's life, so she believes that she can only heal them when they are close to death. It is more 'wrong' perhaps, but in a 'wrong' world, it is what is much more 'righteous'

It also serves as protection for her - fewer people would come after her, want to kidnap her if her ability was so restricted.

What I'm trying to say in this very convoluted manner is that Yosano doesn't *need* to half-kill people - she does it to increase the worth of the lives around her, to protect herself, and to allow herself to live with a little less guilt.

Even if her ability is naturally restricted, I think it's this psyche and manner of thinking that lead to its eventual mutation.

anyway. i kind of spoiled to myself the whole i think twist of this one. for 1. way before i started i went to the wiki and looked at the overblot section, which meant looking at who overblotted cause i like looked at their designs (honestly i only remember riddles now, my memory sucks. and i didnt have a face to name them to besides like floyd and riddle, although floyd doesnt overblot)

and. during i think last book? no second book, the one with savanaclaw, they were like 'ah, cause your ability's--' and then that character interrupted

and i was curious what that ability was so i searched on the wiki

so im just completely spoiled so now it kind of sucks, i feel like one of those fans yelling at a character on a tv not to do something lmfao (im just like 'nOO DONT HATE ON THEM it wasnt them :(((')

(anyway i feel like the twistunes are a genius. because of the way the eyes are done in their smol forms, it means you can't actually tell if they're.. uhh.. charmed or not. since they have the same color as the ones people get when. uh. charmed. the only reason you can actually tell is cause its such a huge personality change in comparison to who they act otherwise that makes it obvious)

i might need to stop for awhile though grinding cause my characters are weak. i can pass the battles but barely cause i just use the support cards with the most power D:

not a fan of like the easy tickets? i already forgot the name. but i did kind of use them in the last book's fight against like floyd and jade because i was stuck there for so long (well for at least a day but im impatient) and i wanted to finally get to the story lmfao

time travel book

woiuld a time travel book that starts on the new timeline make sense?

like,

and it slowly explains it. but for the most part we're in the deep end trying to understand
