On The AO3 All These Years Later
On the AO3 all these years later
The tenth anniversary of the OTW and all the AO3 discussion going around this week inspired me to go look at astolat’s original post about creating an An Archive Of Our Own, and found my comment on it:
“I think this is needed and long past needed.
There are of course huge fanfic archives out there like ff.net, but the bigger and more public the site, the more restrictive it is, the more stuff around the edges gets cut off. I don’t WANT the public face of fanfic to be only the most easily palatable stuff, with the smut and the kink and the controversial subjects marginalized and hidden under the table.
And I particularly don’t want to see us all sitting around feeling frustrated while this fabulous community is commodified out from underneath us.
I’m not fit to be a project manager, but I’m great with details and general organizational work. If someone takes this and runs with it, I’d love to help.“
Eleven years and rather a lot of volunteer-hours later, I stand by every single word.

2019 ACA Enrollment Period!
The US 2019 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period has been shortened from 90 days to 45 days (November 1- December 15, 2018), and the advertising budget to promote open enrollment has been slashed in an effort to further sabotage the program.
That’s why you’re seeing zero advertising about the enrollment window.
Please *copy and paste* and post on your own blog to help spread the word. Or at least reblog!
Someone you know may desperately need health care and the smaller the pool, the higher the premiums, which is exactly the opposite of what was intended when the ACA was passed.
Think of it as a way to increase social justice.
Good example of why telling someone to go yell at a cloud doesn’t leave room for that person’s humanity, including their ability to evolve their position. World of difference between first tweet and last.

straight people shut up challenge
Hmm. I'm mid-Millennial, and my mom has always identified as a Boomer based on the parents-coming-home-from-war narrative about that generation (interestingly, my dad never did, although by Wikipedia’s cutoff birth year of 1964, he definitely counts too, and not a late Boomer, either). Using the wildly unscientific method of looking around at childhood friends, I’d guess there would be plenty of Millennials with Boomer parents, although probably more with Gen X parents.
Does it work anymore to say that one generation is automatically the parent generation of the next? I’d assume the usual method of calculating generations works less reliably now that having children in one’s late 30s and even early 40s is increasingly common. Wikipedia lists 1982 as the start date for Millennials, which is just an 18-year age gap between youngest Boomers and oldest Millennials. Double that (36) would still fall within a plausible range of childbearing ages.
i don’t really think the relationship between generation z and millennials is comparable to the relationship between baby boomers and millennials
mostly because largely speaking. baby boomers are the parents of millennials but millennials aren’t the parents of generation z
