@sweetest-honeybee and I were talking about starting a monster/hybrid au for Shady Oaks SMP, and she gave me the idea to have Dan be a Gargoyle, so kudos to Bee! (Even better bc gargoyles originate from England I think.)

Also my original inspiration for this au comes from @bluegiragi COD monster 141 au. Only go check it out if you’re 18+ though, it does have adult content. (Learned that the hard way but a great au nonetheless 😅)

how is a perfect cut lapis different than a regular lapis? also squid lore.. how did he end up in stampy's court?

A perfect cut lapis is usually bigger than a regular lapis, containing darker and richer colors and a bunch more Pyrite in their form (the gold stuff in Lapises.) (Or can it be Lapi?)

as for the other question… I’d like to tell you a story about the Sun and the Moon. (Ft. Pre-rebellion Squid and his longer hair.)

The sun shone as bright as day, but his eyes were set on a moon. A little blue rock that broke out the Earth was nowhere near the prestige of the sun, but the sun didn’t care. The way the dust on that thing glittered in his rays and that warm smile on such a cold seeming gem was all the Sun needed. Every time the Moon and Sun were seen together, it created a spectacular show for all to see the science of opposites. The Moon and Sun told each other all their woes. The Moon was little and weak compared to the sun, but for once in the Sun’s court’s history, it felt like they didn’t need to worry about the caste system in place. Of course, the Sun had duties to do for the well-being of him and his Sibling’s empire, so he eventually helped rain down destruction on the Earth to end a terrible war. The Moon was so distraught it caused him to flee from the Sun, sticking close to the ruined Earth. His very emotions pulled the tides like a hurricane when it all happened, seeing his companions and kin, scattered and malformed, if not shattered into fine dust…

He would never forgive his radiant Sun for what he did.

And yet…

The Sun felt an empty void after the Moon fled, and the Moon wishes he didn’t feel the same.

…It’s been too long since the last eclipse.

GemCYT Sub-Zero: Weapons!

Cupquake just uses potions on her end. Squid doesn’t have a real weapon, he just uses whatever’s given to him and W A T E R

Now the fun facts:

-Larimar can’t pull his swords from his gem or put them in there. His gem (or rather the end of his gem that is exposed in that form) is too small. He just has sheaths to either side of him.

-Also I gave Lari two swords because it’s cool.

-Larimar can also channel his ice powers into the blade edges, so he could cut an area and freeze the area.

-James’s destabilizer rod also doubles as a conductive lightning rod due to having electrical properties. The shenanigans that lead to that discovery were… unquestionably stupid to say the least.

-James inherited the rod from his gem parent (like how Steven inherited the shield from Rose) and he’s had it for his entire life. He found out he had it when he was around 11, shocked and hurt himself way too many times, and then proceeded to not touch it until his early 20s.

-Justin makes his own arrows using energy for his crossbow using energy from his gem, the same energy used to make interactive holograms.

-Different colors of arrows for Justin mean different effects, most based off different arrow tips and enchantments from Minecraft. Red is fire aspect, orange is explosive, green is poisonous or corrosive, yellow destabilizes, blue is slowness, etc.

Have or will there be any close calls with the rest of the group nearly finding out Dan is Blue Diamond? (Like Justin almost letting a "My Diamond " slip or Dan using a power that a larimar typically wouldn't have and having to find some way to explain.)

Also I just wanna say your Taaffeitite/Ihascupquake design is SO PRETTY

as for the other thing:

Short visual answer: YES.

A few other close diamond giveaways:

-Justin nearly slipping up a few times (like you said), but it’s more often Justin nearly letting a “Larimar” slip on Homeworld while he’s BD, the other way around has happened but it’s less common.

-Dan glowing blue as shown in the comic, (bright blue-ish teal cheeks, though he can glow fully like that,) usually when faced with extreme emotion, JUST like how Steven turning pink in the canon show works, with slightly different effects.(However, none of the team has hung around normal Larimars enough to know they aren’t supposed to glow like that, so they think it’s normal.)

-Dan slipping up on his own words sometimes.

-other examples you’ll see later on in the fanfic on Ao3 ;)

Goobers but fused 2: Electric boogaloo

I decided to draw another fusion for GemCYT Sub-Zero, meet the 1/4 human fusion of Larimar and James: Chryscolla!

I know I broke the usual canon logic of half-human gem fusion from the canon show by 1: giving him humanoid skin tones mixed with gem skin tones, and 2: changing the color of James’s jacket and jeans, but it looks a hell of a lot more aesthetically pleasing.

A few fun facts:

-As mentioned above, he was the product of the first time both James and Larimar had ever fused with anyone. Ever. James was never brought up around fusion, and because diamonds had to be a role model, fusing was strictly prohibited unless it was with the other diamonds, and even that never happened.

-The first fusion was actually by accident, James was saving Dan and it happened in quick succession. They both freaked tf out when they realized.

-it’s a platonic/friendship based fusion, not romantic

-He can still use ice like Larimar can, just doesn’t do it as often.

-He still has a human-ish system. He can’t breathe underwater, and he has a heartbeat. He still bleeds too.

-If you ever find him talking to himself, it’s just Dan and James talking out loud to each-other

-whether his conscience is just James and Larimar muddled together or one singular being with traits of both is unclear.

-he still has the mask from James and uses it to pass as just a little more human.
