There Was This Tweet (It Was Dumb) And The Girl Was Bitching About George RR Martin. She Said Something
There was this tweet (It was dumb) and the girl was bitching about George RR Martin. She said something like "What has George RR Martin done for female characters?" She's a SJM fan, not surprised by this.
On August 6th, 1996, George released A Game of Thrones. Many characters in this book but one stood out, Daenerys Targaryen. She changed the game for female characters. There are a bunch of characters that are literal variants of Daenerys. Aelin Galanthynius is a fae variant of Daenerys. Dany is called "The Prince that was Promised." Aelin is called "The Queen that was Promised." Not trying to diss Aelin, she's one of my favorite book characters.
We got Manon Blackbeak who is literally Visenya Targaryen in another font. Like I said, not trying to diss Manon, love her too.
Give respect when it's due, Daenerys Targaryen is a blueprint (THE blueprint if you wanna get fancy).

I love that when Dany has the opportunity to sit on a majestic throne in Mereen she decides to sit instead in an uncomfortable bench.
It shows what kind of leader she wants to be. She didn't overthrow the previous leaders only to take their place as the new tyrant of the city. She did it to liberate the people from the oppressing system of the Great Masters and give them a more fair ruling system.
That's why she destroys the previous throne ( it was shaped as a harpy; a symbol of the old regime) as a symbolic gesture. Furthermore, instead of choosing a luxury throne, she opts for a plain, ebony bench. Because a ruler shouldn't feel too comfortable with the power they hold. They should always remember that the said power exist because of their people and they ought to serve those who follow them. And with the uncomfortable bench Dany chose as her throne, she sends that message to the people of Mereen.
daenerys’ character is so huge that i feel like i need at least two hearts to keep all my love for her. she’s a scared little girl. she’s the last targaryen princess in exile. she’s a little sister to the ‘beggar king’ and his heir. she’s a child bride and an abuse survivor. she’s a khaleesi, a consort to the great khal. she’s a ‘dreamer’, she sees prophetic dragon dreams. she’s a protector, she takes care of the weak. she’s a young mother who lost her child. she’s the mother of dragons, who hatched them for the first time in 173 years by walking into fire. she’s an abolitionist. she’s a conqueror. she’s a humorous, soft, giggly girl with a sharp mind and wit. she’s the mother to the people she freed. she’s a military strategist and commander. she’s a polyglot and a book worm. she’s self aware and too hard on herself. she’s a politician, a diplomat and a ruling queen. she’s a dragon rider. she enjoys nature and horse-riding. she talks back to men. she’s in love, she’s sensual and owns her sexuality. she’s intelligent, cunning and a quick learner. she’s generous and compassionate. she has a dragon temper. she’s a prophesied hero and i love her so much ♥️

Lmfao, never mind that the Targaryens switched from Valyrian god worship to the Faith of the Seven to adopt Westerosi culture.
Never mind that they adopted a house sigil to adopt to Westerosi House customs.
Never mind that they married people from non-Valyrian descended Houses like Martell, Dayne, Blackwood, Arryn...
Literally what part of this says "spit on Westerosi customs" lmfao?
