More Posts from Erisxdrifter

Lil pic I made a while back... Thought it'd be sweet if he walked in and found her sleeping so he decided to leave her his coat 🤭 (he also left her a container of soup on the table hehe)
Hey guys, I'd love to have some more Drifteris on my dash. If your someone who loves Eris and Drifter, pop me a message! I'd love to follow some fellow people who are as in love with this ship as I am 😊
Confidence
Hehe... made a lil story where Eris helps Drifter be more confident... I just want them to share some sweet tender moments together, it's what they deserve :]
"Hey, Eris?" Came the Drifter's voice from over the old radio which sat upon the dusty table surface.
Eris peeked her head up from the volume she was reading, sliding her nimble fingers across the pages and dog earing her place before shutting the book and returning the Drifter's call.
"It is quiet late, is it not?" She greeted him.
"Yeah, but I figured you'd still be up."
"Indeed, I am." Eris replied. "What is it that you want?"
"For you to come meet me somewhere."
"Hmm... where?" She asked.
"It's a surprise. Just meet me at these coordinates I'm sendin' over." He replied, his voice revealing nothing.
"These coordinates, they are on Earth. Where are you taking me? Why all this secrecy?"
"Like I said, it's a surprise, Moondust." He replied vaguely. "Meet me there in a few minutes. Trust."
* * *
"You wished to meet atop a cliffside?" Eris asked bluntly, approaching the dark figure ahead which she ascertained was the Drifter.
The Moon's light gleamed off his wide toothed grin. "Yeah. Wanted to show you somethin'. C'mon,"
He reached out and took Eris's hand, his grip tight but not painful, and walked them forward. They were still quiet far from the cliffs edge, but the Drifter made sure to be slow and careful as he guided them over to a large rock portrududing the somewhat clear area.
"Why did you bring me here?" Eris asked as they sat beside one another on the hard rock. "And what was the purpose of coming so late at night?"
"That," the Drifter pointed ahead of them, directing Eris's attention to the large glowing sphere which hovered high in the sky.
The Moon was full and bright, bathing everything it could in it's soft white light, and sending the things that it couldn't into harsh and darkened shadows.
"You admire it." Eris said, somewhat surprised by the awe reflected in the Drifter's grey eyes.
"It's beautiful, ain't it?" He asked, looking back at her.
"I did not take you for one to appreciate nature to such an extent." Eris admitted, her three eyed gaze returning to the Moon. "But yes, it is quiet a marvel."
"Heh, yeah..."
The gentle chirping of crickets filled the silence that made up the next few minutes, their shrill song one that Eris happily accepted in that peaceful moment.
"Why did you wish for me to see this?" Eris asked, finally breaking the silence.
After a thoughtful moment, the Drifter slowly began to tell her, "This is special to me... seein' the Moon so big and bright like it is tonight. I always come up here when it's like this, watichin' it for hours till the sun starts risin'. And I reckon I wanted to share this moment that's come to mean a lot to me, with someone else who's come to mean a lot to me, too." He looked over at her. "Does that make sense?"
Eris contemplated his answer, the meaning behind it, the weight of his voice as he told her how much it meant- how much she's come to mean. She looked back at him.
"Yes. That makes sense."
"Does this mean anythin' to you?" He asked, hoping Eris hadn't caught the quiver in his voice.
"On normal circumstances, had I seen this alone, it would be merely a feigning glance. A feeling which would be gone in an instant had it even arisen, a moment that would soon fade from memory and conscience." She studied the curves and dents of the Moon's surface. "But here, with you having shown me this?" She now studied his face. "Yes. It has grown to mean far more to me, than it ever would in any other circumstance, or with any other person."
She added on the last part, curious of what the Drifter would do with it, how he would interpret the meaning behind the words.
He squeezed her hand tighter, reminding her that her palm was still against his own, as he tangled their fingers together and cleared his throat.
He was no longer looking at her, but had returned his eyes to the full bright orb ahead of them, his expression a mix of both joy and apprehension.
"Why does your countenance reflect tension?" Eris finally asked after a few more minutes of cricket chirping.
He remained silent. So silent and for so long, Eris wondered if he had decided to ignore her, until finally he said, "you ever have somethin' you wanna tell someone so bad, but you don't know how to say it? And your scared your gonna mess everthin' up with that person cause your so afraid?"
It was Eris's turn to remain silent for a few long minutes, leaving the Drifter to listen to the sound of crickets.
"I have found," Eris began eventually. "That the best cure for a situation such as the one you have suggested, is to acknowledge what you wish to speak. Otherwise, you allow that worry to burrow in your mind, letting it to dig deeper and fester longer." She kept her gaze on the Moon as she spoke. "If you trust this person, then speak to them your truth, Germaine. And do not allow your fear to get in the way of your conviction."
The Drifter no longer looked toward Eris or the Moon, but instead moved to staring down at the cracked rock surface beneath them.
"If you wish to have this time alone and in silence, I will leave." Eris offered.
"No, no, stay. Please." The Drifter said, still gripping her hand in his own trembling one. "Just... gimme a minute."
And that way they sat for some few cricket filled minutes, the Drifter staring down at the rocks, Eris studying the Moon and the way its soft light fell atop everything, glittering against the rocks scattered around.
Finally the Drifter sighed. "You know why I brought you here, right?"
"You said earlier that I had come to mean a lot to you." Eris answered.
"Yeah..." he turned his face towards her. "And I meant what I said. You... you mean more to me than anyone else."
Eris returned his keen gaze, their eyes locked on one another, daring the other to break the silence that followed with his confession.
Without a word, Eris freed her hand from the Drifter's clinging grasp. She then grabbed his wrist and lifted both their hands, bringing his shaking fingers to her cheek, watching an expression of astonishment wash over his face. Then she took her hand away, leaving his hovering there, pressed against the eternal tears that flowed down her face.
The Drifter sucked in a shivering breath and leaned closer to her. Their faces were so close, noses gently touching, until finally the Drifter leaned in a little closer, their lips touching in a soft kiss.
Eris could tell he was scared, afraid to allow his emotions to guide him after all the pain he had already suffered through in his hundreds of years of living. When he kissed her, it was a nervous kiss, his lips only barely meeting her own, lingering there for a long and unfamiliar moment.
He pulled away swiftly, taking his face from hers and pointing it away, refusing to meet her eyes or the glow of the Moon. Eris let out a dismal sigh as she stared back at the Moon once again.
"Why did you do that?" She finally asked.
"Do what?" He replied.
"Pull away." She watched him turn his head back toward the Moon, it's light reflecting in his eyes
"I... I didn't do it right. The kiss." He clarified, clearing his throat.
After a moment Eris spoke again. "I believe you overthought the moment, Drifter."
"What d'you mean?" He asked, his voice quiet, shoulders slouched.
"I did not force you to kiss me, that was an act done solely by you and through your courage. I merely encouraged it when I brought your hand to my face." Eris told him. "You gathered your valor on your own, but allowed it to slip away when we touched, overthinking the way our lips met, and discerning whatever ways you believed you had done inadequately."
"I don't understand..." The Drifter confessed.
"You were brave enough to kiss me, and only failed by the end when you pulled away, allowing your nerves and overthinking, to get the better of you- to tell you you had done poorly, when the truth is quiet the opposite." She explained more simply.
"It didn't feel strange to you?" He asked her.
"It only felt peculiar when you pulled away in fear." Eris informed him.
"Huh..."
"Stop doubting yourself, Germaine. These anxieties will not help you grow, they will only hold you back. And now, if you wish to keep to your thoughts, I will be going." She started to stand until the Drifter reached out with asp-like speed, grabbing her wrist and looking up at her.
"Please, Eris, stay."
Eris considered his plea for a moment, noting the way he called her by her true name, not by any nickname.
She sat beside him once again.
Another moment of silence later and the Drifter had slid closer to her, their legs touching as he leaned into her.
Eris watched him with curiosity, her eyes studying his face. He looked less nervous than he had earlier, and Eris spotted a spark of confidence within his grey eyes. He sat there, motionless, letting a few seconds pass them by before he parted the space between them and kissed her again.
Eris stayed still, letting him kiss her as she noted the way he had come in quicker this time, his touch carrying more confidence. He stayed there, unmoving, letting the sound of crickets chirping pass them by. And just when Eris was sure he'd pull away, he brought his palms to her cheeks and pulled her tear covered face closer.
Eris would have allowed that moment to continue on for quiet some time had the Drifter kept his face against hers, but eventually he began to slowly pull away, his eyes opening to study Eris's own. Their faces were still close, his hands still holding her cheeks, their eyes searching one another through the moonlight. Then finally, the Drifter's lips began to twitch up in a smile, Eris's doing the same, and in another moment he leaned in and began kissing her again.
The moment was calm and tranquil, their warmth being shared as their lips unified, the Drifter touching her with a courage that Eris had not felt in him ever before. They were happy.
They countinued that way, joyously sharing enraptured kisses and growing in their love and tenderness for one another, for a while longer, the Moon remaining bright, sending it's gentle white illuminance down on the two figures sitting atop the rock.
The Drifter's courage grew thanks to Eris Morn, and they both obtained joy through it, pressing their lips together again and again, relishing in the taste, touch, and warmth through the night.
What about a fic where the Drifter gets Eris a pet rat for company while he's away and she names it after him.Extra points if there is some whacky hijinx where the rat gets away and causes mischeif! 😂
Awww him getting her a lil pet rat is such a sweet idea 🥺🐀 Thank you so much for the request, I hope you love it!!
When Eris had first awoken that morning, it seemed as though it would be just another average day. She had no plans made, there were no enemies of humanity to go up against at the moment, many Guardians were already patrolling the Moon for Hive. Which left Eris with the menial task of reading and paperwork- which she did not much mind.
But to her surprise, when Eris walked into the little cramped kitchen of her work place, she found something unexpected upon her table.
It was an animal carrier. Eris frowned as she approached it, seizing the slighly wrinkled piece of paper which had been taped atop the carrier.
The handwriting was messy. It looked as if someone with poor penmanship had attempted to write neater, which elicited a smile from Eris, who know had a guess as to who the letter was from even before she had seen it.
Hey Moondust, gonna be out for a while today Thought I'd leave you somethin' for company so you won't get lonely without me Hope you love it, and I'll try and send you a call tonight, alright?
-Love, G
P.S. reach your hand out and the little guy will come right up to you
Eris looked curiously toward the carrier, reaching out a cautious hand to open the door. She peered inside, leaning closer and bringing her hand in front of the entrance.
A moment later, something darkly colored with a long pink tail rushed out, taking it's place in Eris's palm and looking up at her with gleaming black eyes.
"He... left me a rat...?" Eris asked aloud, staring down at the calm little rat with great surprise.
The rat squeaked up at her before sniffing around her hand, likely just as surprised as she was to see a strange newcomer.
Something else in the carrier caught the corner of Eris's eye. She looked into it once again, reaching inside with her free hand to grab a little plastic bag of what appeared to be chopped up pieces of broccoli and apples, along with a piece of nibbled on paper taped to it which read,
And here's some treats for him so he'll know your his owner :)
Eris frowned. I have a rat now...? She thought, finding herself happily surprised by how well the creature was behaving as he countinued to sit atop her hand.
"You will need a name, won't you, little one?" Eris asked the rat, gently sliding him off her hand and onto the table surface. She proceeded to un-stick the plastic bag, reaching in and grabbing a piece of the green broccoli with two fingers.
"Would you like this, little Drifter?" She offered it to the curious rat, watching him crawl up to her.
The rat gently took the broccoli in his teeth, rearing up on his hind legs. He then dropped the broccoli into his little pink hands and began nibbling the green stalk.
"Yes, you like broccoli, don't you?" Eris allowed herself a rare moment to smile down at the little fuzzy creature.
But the rat sped across the table as soon as he finished his broccoli, catching Eris by surprise while he climbed up atop one of the many books beside them. The rat sniffed at it for a quick moment before swiftly walking up to one of the edges and knawing at it.
"No, Drifter!" Eris exlaimed, reaching to grab him, but missing as he ran off the book and to the other side of the table.
She traced a gloved finger along the now chewed and awkwardly sticking out part of the book edge with a frown before reaching to grab a piece of apple from the bag. She attempted to make her expression look more relaxed as she offered the piece of fruit to the rat, who then sniffed at it, took it from her hand, and began chomping down.
"I have no knowledge of how to care for rats," Eris sighed out. She reached up to her earpiece, hoping she could call the Drifter for some explanation or assistance, but instead of his voice she merely got silence from the other end. She sighed again, tossing the rat another piece of broccoli.
Eris began putting her mind to work, looking around the cramped kitchen for anything she could use to make sure the rat didn't ruin any more of her possessions.
That will work she thought as she walked across the room, grabbing the large rations crate she had retrieved from last month. She dumped out the remaining old food packets atop the counter before bringing the box over to the table, setting it atop a chair where she could easily look down into it.
Eris then reached into the zip lock bag, baiting the rat closer with another chunk of brocoli. The rat let out a squeak when she grabbed him, lowering him carefully into the crate.
She dropped him another piece of broccoli. "there, there, little Drifter... this is for the meantime while I figure out what to do with you."
She turned away, slipping off her gloves as she leaned over the kitchen counter and grabbed a kettle. She filled it with water and set it atop an oven eye to heat.
Why would he give me a rat? She thought to herself as she stared down at the kettle. And what am I supposed to do with it? I do not have the time to care for a creature.
These thoughts countinued on throughout Eris's head until the kettle erupted with a shrill whistle. She poured in her water, grabbed a spoon, and began stirring in the honey and cream for her tea, her mind elsewhere in thought until something whiskery flicked across the back of her hand. She snatched her hand away and jerked her head towards the thing that had touched her- to her surprise, it was the rat. He pointed his head up to sniff at her, his little sharp teeth showing.
"How did you get out?" Eris asked him, not expecting an answer from the rodent.
She scooped the rat into her gloveless hands, being once again surprised by the rat when he sped up her arm at lighting fast speed. The rat crawled atop her shoulder, leaning over to sniff her face before crawling into her hood and finally settling down.
Eris stayed there, unmoving, her glowing eyes wide with shock as she felt the rat curl up against her neck.
Will he bite me if I move? She wondered, moving her arms stiffly. But instead of the sharp bite of teeth, she felt the rat's whiskers tickle against her skin.
"Little rat..." Eris tried through stiffled laughter. "Please come out," she reached a hand into her hood, her fingers meeting the rat's soft fur.
As much as Eris tried to gently persuade the rat out of hiding, he would not come. He only continued to rest against her, falling into a gentle sleep.
Eris sighed. "Fine. Rest, little Drifter."
She once again retrieved her tea, bringing it back to her face and taking a sip as she weighed her options.
She could force the rat off of her, risking angering him and possibly getting bit. Or she could let him rest where he was and attempt to go about her day as normal.
"I suppose you may stay, little rat," she murmured, deciding on option two as she grabbed the rat's bag of treats and left the kitchen, entering into her private study.
The room was somewhat large, crammed full of Hive artifacts and ancient tattered books. Yellowed papers were scattered across the table and desk, strange glowing things hung around the room, giving it an eerie feel. A lamp sat in a corner, illuminating the space with it's warm light.
Eris approached her desk, sitting in the hard wood chair and setting the plastic bag atop the surface beside her. She could hear the rat sniffing around from inside her hood, likely noticing the bag of treats, but still not willing to come out.
Eris delicately opened the old book in front of her, gently leafing through the pages until she got to where she was meant to be. She began reading, translating the Hive letterings and signs, and writing her findings on a skein of Hive leather beside her.
She murmured under her breath what she read, trailing a finger across the page, careful not to smear the ink.
She continued on like that for some time, writing with neat precision, until she finally noticed; the rat was missing.
She brought her head up, looking left and right across the desk surface, hoping she would see the little rodent she had begun to grow fond of. She pushed her chair back and stood, running her eyes across the floor.
"Little rat?" She called, bending to look under the desk. "Little rat, where are you?"
A dark grey blob caught the corner of her eye, she jerked towards the table, seeing the rat atop it with something green in his mouth.
My jade coin Eris though, trying to pull a smile onto her face.
"Little rat," she said, attempting to lull the rat with a soothing voice. "Please return that, it is quiet valuable to me," she slowly approached the table, bending towards the rat.
But once she got close enough, the rat ran, speeding across the room and slipping behind a bookshelf.
"How...?" Eris groaned, barely managing to slide her own hand behind the shelf.
She stood, circling to the other side of the large piece of furniture and peering behind it as best she could, hardly managing to make out anything. She then made a sweep of the room, looking under things and peeking above surrounding shelves, searching behind books and papers and artifacts, but she found no rat anywhere.
When finally she knew she had to give up, she plopped into one of the hard seats, leaning her elbows on her knees and hiding her face in her hands.
"I lost him..." she mumbled under her breath, her arms and legs aching.
She massaged her brow, hoping to ease the headache that just began to throb. She stood after a moment, heading back to the kitchen and setting on the kettle once again.
"Today has been ineffectual." She said to herself, preparing her cup of tea and taking a sip.
Just as she was reaching up to attempt another call to the Drifter, a flash of dark grey whizzed across the floor. Eris looked down, locking eyes with the rat. He returned her stare, his little black eyes glued to Eris's three green ones.
At that moment she finally remembered the words from the Drifter's letter. It is worth a try, I suppose, Eris thought, kneeling down and slowly extending her palm. A moment later the rat was on her arm once again, sniffing happily as he looked up at her.
"You little pain," Eris said, affectionate and tired. She got up and sat at the kitchen table, setting both the rat and her cup of tea atop it. "Now, little rat, where did you put my coin?"
The rat merely ran across the table to her cup, reaching up and sniffing at it.
"No, that is mine," Eris grabbed the mug by it's handle, keeping it away from the rat's curious self. Little Drifter then turned his attention to Eris's Ahamkara rock, running up and sniffing it instead.
"No, don't-" Eris reached out, but was too late to catch the rock.
It rolled off the edge, bouncing loudly against the floor with a cringe worthy ring.
"How am I suppo-" Eris's annoyance was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Eris grabbed her rock and the rat, putting him on her shoulder as she approached the door. She punched in the code and opened it to see a smiling Drifter.
"Hey, Moondust!" He greeted as he walked in. "How you likin' your little friend?"
"I may just slap you, do you know that?"
"What?" His expression reflected genuine astonishment. "Why?"
"This rat has caused me to waste most of my day by running off and hiding, he has stolen the jade coin you had given me, he just now rolled my Ahamkara bone off the table- need I go on?" She huffed.
"I thought he'd make you happy!" The Drifter defended. "Did you try stickin' your hand out to him?" He asked, sticking his own hand out. The rat came running from Eris's shoulder to his own with a happy squeak.
"I will admit I had forgotten your words of advice for most this time." Eris sighed out. "I thought you said you would call me?"
"Oh, yeah. Happened to get finished with my work sooner than I expected, so I figured since it wasn't too late yet I'd pop on by and check on you two." He grabbed Eris's hand, bringing her palm out so the rat would run back over to her. "So he's been a pain, huh? I can take him back. Thought you might like him, but I understand if you don't wanna care for a rat- or any animal really," he offered her a smile, showing that he was not offended.
Once again, Eris sighed. "I named him after you, you know."
"What, Rat?" He laughed.
"No," Eris replied softly, warmly. "I named him Drifter."
The Drifter's facade fell for a moment, and he allowed a sincere smile to glow upon his face.
"He is quiet aggravating at times, just as you are, but in the end, I do love him." She smiled to the little rat in her hands. "Yes, I will keep him. Thank you, Drifter."
"Heh... my pleasure." He kissed her cheek. "I just wanna make sure you don't get lonely when I'm away."
"And indeed, now I shan't be."
A gleam of green caught the corner of Eris's eye, and when she turned to look she found the jade coin in the corner on the floor.
Eris smiled.
Fuck anonymous, please give us loving smack talk as both guide the guardian through some mission. Please?
Lololol omg, we need more of this type of content in-game 😂 Their smack talk in missions is always hilarious. Thank you so much for this request, hope you love it!
"Guardian. Thank you for taking the time to finalize this patrol. I will be guiding you through it." Eris's voice spoke from over the comms as the Guardian ran through a long and winding tunnel on the Moon, continuing deeper and deeper through the caves in search of Hive to kill.
"And I'll be taggin' along too." Came the Drifter's crackly voice, joining Eris's over the signal.
"Rat. I did not invite you to this mission, and I do not recall the Guardian doing so either."
"No, you didn't, but I figured my company would be appreciated."
The Guardian countinued to traverse deeper through the dark caves, running at a dangerously high speed which countinued to risk the possibility of them running face first into a rock.
"And why would you assume such a thing?" Came Eris's voice.
"Aww- Moondust! You know you enjoy my company. No need to pretend otherwise."
"This matter is best left spoken of in private, Drifter." Eris replied, ending their current conversation as the Guardian found and shot a Hive scout.
The Guardian spotted another two Hive scouts a moment later, along with a Knight. They shot a number of rounds at the scouts first, taking them both down in a matter of seconds before rolling out of the way of the Knights oncoming bullets. They ducked behind a large boulder, pulling out their sniper and peeking over the edge. When they got the Knight in view through the large scope, the Guardian took their shot, shooting until the Knight had fallen over dead.
"Great work, Hero!" The Drifter congratulated them.
"Drifter, what are you doing now?" Eris asked him.
"Uhh, makin' lunch. You wanna come over?"
"No. I'm sure you are cooking some manner of repulsing creature." Eris's voice held a tinge of disgust.
"Nah, I'm cookin' up a stew. Remember how much you liked my last one?" The Drifter asked.
"It was surprisingly good." Eris admitted. "What are the ingredients of the one you cook currently?"
"Hah! The Guardians down there shootin' Hive and we're sittin' here talkin' about food." The Drifter laughed to himself. "Anyway, there's chicken, chopped up celery and onions, and then some dumplings. Sure you'd like it, Moondust."
"It... sounds quiet appetizing."
"Yeah... smells pretty good, too." The Drifter said. "Woah, hey now, the Guardians doin' great. I dare say they've already cleared out half that cave. Hah!"
"Indeed, you do well Guardian." Eris told them as they fired some more rounds at the nearby Hive. "Your assistance in these matters is always greatly appreciated."
"Yeah, yeah, keep on congratulating the Guardian, but never tell me I do a good job..." The Drifter said with mock gloom.
"Jealous, are you?" Eris asked, amusement in her voice.
"Maybe..."
"You would not agree that the Guardian deserves congratulations?" Eris asked as the Guardian took down another Hive Knight.
"Oh, no. They deserve congratulatin' all right, that's a fact. I just wish you'd tell me I do a good job more."
"Then perhaps you should do more that warrants congratulating, Germaine." Eris spoke, almost affectionately.
"I picked up the Derelict for you." He pointed out.
"And that is something you should do even when I am not coming to visit." Eris told him. "Though, I do appreciate your consideration of my thoughts. The Derelict does look tidier."
"Heh... thank you, thats all I wanted." Then softer, as if he was hoping he wouldn't be heard, the Drifter said, "I'll dish up the food in a minute,"
The Guardian countinued shooting, making the Hive fall one by one, while they dodged their oncoming bullets.
"Yes, yes." Came Eris's impassioned voice. "Make them fall, make them feel the pain and suffering they have afflicted upon us!"
"Yeesh, your intense, Moondust. Remind me not to get on your bad side."
"You have been on my bad side many a time." Eris pointed out.
"And lived to tell the tale, can you believe that?" He laughed. "Anyway, here's your bowl Eris." His voice was soft again, but the Guardian still heard every word.
"Thank you." Was Eris's equally quiet reply.
The Guardian began to shoot at a Hive Wizard, breaking it's shield in a matter if seconds.
"Whoo!" The Drifter let out when the Guardian successfully took down the Wizard. "Feels almost like Gambit. You should come by, Hero, I'll double your rewards if you'll kill a Wizard by yourself in the first round."
"Rat, now is not the time for making deals and wagers. The Guardian needs to focus."
"Alright, fine."
The Guardian filled the next few moments of silence with the sound of gunshots firing and knives swishing by through the air.
"The soup is good, Germaine. Thank you." Eris spoke softly.
"My pleasure, Moondust. I figured you'd like it, glad you came over to have a bite."
"Indeed." Then returning to normal volume, Eris said, "wonderful work, Guardian. This will surely aid in keeping the Hive population back."
"And don't forget about Gambit, alright? I always need more Motes." The Drifter jumped in.
"Last I saw, you seemed to have plenty." Eris interjected.
"Eh, still always need more." He replied. Then back to the Guardian, "but, uh, I'm gonna be busy for a little while right now. Just drop by later if you wanna take up my offer, yeah?"
"Indeed, thank you, Guardian, for you much needed assistance. The Drifter and I will be going now."
The Guardian shrugged off the questions they had pertaining to Eris and the Drifter's strange vagueness, and instead moved on to using their party emote, before heading back up into orbit.
