Crying, sobbing shaking…this is the cutest thing ive ever seen…thank you 😭💕❤️❤️😭💕❤️✨💕❤️
Ummm as a person who draws, can I ask for Kyo’s response if he was going through y/n’s sketchbook left unattended and found a few portraits of him inside 👉🏻👈🏻🥺💕

a/n: fr i was drawing consistently from like late elementary school to highschool- then stopped completely after graduation lol (tbh i've been debating drawing/painting uzui and rengoku lately) thank you for the rq!! i went ahead and put this in the form of bullet points >< i hope that's alright!
i also didn't really proof this ;n; im sorry if theres errors

kyojuro was never one to pry
he would often see you doodling and scribbling away in sketchbooks with any free moment you had and if he asked what you were drawing sometimes your responses differed
sometimes you'd nod and gleefully wave him over as he sits beside you and you flip through pages with all sorts of sketches
trees and flowers, foods and the sky, animals, and shops- anything that caught your eyes was somehow materialized in the confines of your book
however, he's noticed lately that there was a different reaction to this question
you would grow flustered, stumbling over yourself and slamming your book shut, sometimes shutting your thumb harshly between its rough pages with your haste
just from your reaction alone- he knew the answer would be a very polite no, but that only piqued his interest and curiosity
he had also noticed that you only acted that way when you had a very specific sketchbook with you
your normal one filled with the things you shared among him was a brown, leather stretched book with worn edges and even more worn pages
the second one was much more well kept
newer and black and every time he got a glimpse of it, it always seemed to be in pristine condition
you obviously took very good care of it- so whatever was inside the pages must've been something you were proud of
again, kyojuro was never one to pry
but when he saw you had dozed off one spring day on the engawa while you were visiting him the moment was just too tempting
you were out cold and he had just noticed your sleeping figure leaning against the outer wall of the house when he spared a glance at you from his training out in the yard
he swiped his sleeve over his forehead and down the side of his face, the sweat getting to him as he walked to the house and set his bokken down
sitting on the engawa next to you, he easily cradled the back of your neck and braced your shoulder so he could gently lay you on your back
he also threw his haori over your chest because even if it was springtime, he didn't want to risk you getting a cold and you could sleep much easier on your back than slumped over against the wall
as he lay you down, your black sketchbook had slipped from your lazy grasp and dully bounced off the wood of the engawa and all kyojuro could do was sort of... blink and stare at it
he glanced between you and the book multiple times wondering to himself if he was really going to be a snoop and look through the book while you sleep
he could look and then when you start to wake, place it back on the floor beside you and just never tell you- but would that be lying?
the last thing he wanted to do was lie to you and you obviously were protective of this particular sketchbook
he curses the book because why did you have to have that one? he could've easily picked up your other one and skimmed through it like you've let him a million times before
apologizing to you about a bazillion times in his head, he picks up the book and settles himself on the engawa, folding his legs and holding it in his lap
it sat closed, the black-bound face of it staring up at him as he rested his hand on top of it still taking one more moment of contemplation
would you be angry with him?
the top of your head brushed against his bent knee and he glanced once more at your sleeping face before he took a resolved breath- he was going to open this book
the curiosity was eating him alive
and he'd find a way to make it up to you somehow later if you were mad when you woke up and he tells you he looked because he wasn't hiding the truth from you
the last thing he expected to see when he cracked it open was his own face staring back at him
he was shocked enough to close the book, sit for a moment then reopen it to make sure he was hallucinating things
he wasn't- it was him sketched out among that first page
in fact- the pages that followed were all of him
training, fighting, teaching tanjiro and senjuro, eating, reading, talking with his brother, sitting formally like he would in front of his father, walking through the forest, standing in the yard under trees, kneeling on one knee, laughing- all of these expressions and positions were all him
no wonder you didn't want him to look inside
the book was open to a page with him standing cross-armed and grinning like a fool as he let out a shaky breath
he leaned forward and covered his face in his hands, feeling his cheeks burn in his palms from the revelation
he lowered his hands and looked at you still dead to the world under the spring sun and he reached over to place his hand on your head before taking his fingertip and tracing your own features like he was sketching his own portrait of you
you must've been looking at him a lot to be able to draw him so accurately and the idea of you just staring at him- finding him so interesting enough to draw over and over just made his face flush again
he cleared his throat, finding your discarded pencil, and opened to the next blank page he could find
when you woke up, you were by yourself laying on the engawa with the warmth of kyojuro's haori over you
the sun had shifted since you had dozed off and he was no longer in the yard training
you sat up and rubbed your eyes, feeling embarrassed at the idea of him seeing you napping and going so far as to cover you up and lay you down
grabbing your book, you didn't even think about him sneaking a peek but when you grabbed it, you felt your pencil lumped inside it
opened it to the page the pencil was placed, the haori still crumbled in your lap felt way too hot
a very poorly drawn picture of you was sketched into the page and a small 'thank you very much' was written in the corner of it
you buried your face into the open page and willed the earth to open up and swallow you whole
the next time you see kyojuro, you're returning his haori to him, and let's just say it's a bit awkward- but he lets you know that he's very flattered you find him so fascinating to draw (all while entirely red-faced)
you just ask him to forget about it- but he doesn't
he actually offers to pose for you, you scream and tell him to forget it and it makes him laugh because you're just too dang cute when you're embarrassed
your embarrassment almost makes him forget his own
you don't stop drawing kyojuro and when he asks to see in the future, you sheepishly let him take peeks every now and then
among your sketchbook, his poorly drawn picture remains as your favorite page

should’ve known better
pairing: kyojuro x reader
warnings: angst
wc: 3.5k
You know it’s very far from it being your place but, after meeting his family, you can’t help but share your concerns with Kyojuro. You should’ve known better

Kyojuro had grown accustomed to your types of silence.
The months spent together had been enough for him to learn how to interpret your quietness: he knew with comforting certainty when you were upset, annoyed, too anxious to speak or so angry you just couldn’t find the words to properly snap.
This time, however, he was too afraid to ask.
He had entertained the idea of taking you to his estate to meet his family for quite some time, his excitement quickly reflecting in your wide smile as he asked if it was something you would’ve liked to do.
You just said yes, stars in your eyes, peach tinted cheeks, not daring to tell him you had actually been wanting to meet them for so long. You didn’t share your concerns either: what if they didn’t like you? What if they would’ve been ashamed by their hashira son and brother bringing home a person so ordinary, whose reality was just so distant from theirs?
Of course you knew about his mother, and of course you were aware of the fact that his father hadn’t exactly recovered from the loss.
Kyojuro shared as much as he could, heart fluttering mostly at the thought of you finally interacting with his darling little brother. With a little luck, he would’ve been able to quickly introduce you to his father and then watch as he disappeared behind closed doors without embarrassing him too much.
He honestly thought the whole thing went as smoothly as possible.

Among the Rain

r.kyojuro/reader
genre: angst, comfort
warning(s): past death of a family member, some angsty themes of reminiscing
w.count: 780 approx.
synopsis: time seems to amaze you even after two years, but this year, at least you're not standing in front of that memorial alone
-x-x-x-
a/n: yes hi hello this is 100% self-indulgent and like a tiny bit of a vent because im, unfortunately, feeling emotions oopies
-x-x-x-
The season was on the cusp of turning to spring, but the sky was grey and dreary. Rain fell off and on in gentle sessions, like pleasant showers of apology for the cold it brought in its wake despite the yearning for the spring warmth and its flowers.
The rain was a small drizzle as you stood in front of the stone memorial you had been visiting the last two years. You were dressed for your work, for your next mission. Your uniform was damp from the drizzle and you had left your haori behind in favor of the full blackness your uniform provided.
You feel like you've been standing in front of his grave for hours now, but in truth, you had no idea how long your feet had been planted to the stone beneath them. You were aware of when you came, but the grey sky made it difficult to determine what time it was without some sort of watch on you.
You let out a sigh and a small puff of air is expelled from the warmth of your breath hitting the chilled air. Your eyes fall close at the quiet surroundings of nothing but rain hitting earth. You feel the presence of someone joining you before you're feeling a slight amount of weight drape over your shoulders and rest on your back.
"There is quite the nasty chill in the air today," the familiar warmth of Kyojuro's voice was just as warm as the haori you know he just placed over you. You shift your arms, reaching up to grab at the hem of the long cloak as you let another breath leave your lips in the form of chilled air as you open your eyes again.
"That's true," you return. He stands behind your shoulder, not daring to stand in front of you before a gravestone he is not familiar with. The lack of distance between your body and his makes it so, even in the cold, wet weather, the warmth of his body radiates over to you like the sun peeking through clouds.
It felt nice.
"May I ask who it is you are visiting?"
"My grandmother." You blink and reread your family name carved on the gravestone. You blame the rain for your sudden blurry vision. "She passed two years ago, and I haven't visited her as much as I wish."
"I am sure she understands." Kyojuro moves his gaze from the memorial up to the sky which shows no sign of clearing up anytime soon. He frowns at the clouds like they've offended him. "It is unfortunate the rain doesn't seem to be ceasing."
You shake your head and a small, pitiful smile crosses your face. Kyojuro looks back to you with... something in his eyes.
"No. My grandmother rather liked rainy days. They calmed her a lot." You scoff at yourself as you recall memories. "When she took care of me and it would rain, she would often read to me. That's why I think she'd really like that it's raining today."
"She raised you then?"
"Sort of. My parents often were busy, so when they weren't around I was with her. And when they decided that they no longer loved each other," you clear your throat and cut yourself off. "Well, it's self-explanatory."
"I see."
It's silent again. From your shoulder you see Kyojuro stare at the same stone you have been before he's closing his eyes. Your own eyes widen a fraction at seeing him pay respects to a woman he had never met before her passing.
This time you blamed Kyojuro for the stinging sensation plaguing your eyes. When he opens his eyes again, your staring off into space- looking at nothing but still looking at something. He can see the few stray tears slip down your cheek among the raindrops but says nothing of them.
Instead, he lifts his hand and places it atop your head.
"I know it is not the best time, but the rain will worsen soon. We should be heading somewhere to wait it out." You nod under his palm and go to remove his haori from your shoulders, but he gently pushes it back up. "Keep it. Just for a little while."
When you finally look at him fully, he's smiling at you just like he always is. You turn your back to the gravestone before Kyojuro is lifting his hand from your head and instead now offering it out to you.
"We will come back and visit again very soon. Perhaps if the weather is nicer, we can bring a book and read to her." You place your hand in his as he squeezes it reassuringly and you swallow the lump in your throat.
You nod and squeak out a small response. "Yes, that sounds nice."
