“I’d rather support a potential liar than a potential rapist.”

My question is, why does your support include being an asshole?

@hibernatingwithgrizzlies has a great post on this and I’d like to add to why it’s a logical fallacy and problematic.

People who say this or variations thereof, are, in legal terms, insufferable twats.

It goes the same for anyone who posted “I’m not writing/creating content for Xavier anymore because PHW…it ‘goes against my morals.’”

I can’t imagine having to deal with these pontificating asshats in real life.

I do understand pausing creating content because you feel some sort of way, it’s adding “morals” to it and making sure EVERYONE KNOWS that you have “morals” is what gets me.

The logical fallacy is the presumption that regardless of the evidence or outcome, your personal bias and horrible behavior were always justified.

They’re justifying and trying to make being gullible and jumping to conclusions a virtue.

“I’m absolved from critical thinking or apologizing for my vile behavior because I was pretending and grandstanding about supporting women and feminism. That makes everything ok.”

Last I checked, being pathologically gullible is not a tenant of feminism.

When it’s spelled out like that, it sounds batshit insane, right? It is insane.

This line of thinking is problematic because you’re basically saying you’re biased and proud. It doesn’t matter what actually happened, you’re not going to give the accused a chance to defend themselves because you’ve already decided they were guilty. Not only that they were guilty, but it’s your moral obligation to be as vile and obnoxious about condemning them as possible.

If it turns out you were wrong, then you don’t have to admit that because you were on the “right” side of the argument.

I just have to hope these 15-year-olds grow out of this immature and brainless mindset before they’re old enough to be on a jury.

you know, i  would be fine if Eddie didn't show up in season 5. BUT only if he could finally finish school in season 4, his name is cleared and he left Hawkins with his boyfriend  to become a cool musician. and then their 6 little nuggets would come to visit them.

it's not understanding other's feelings and misreading the room, never knowing when is best to just shut up - these are the things that make me even more miserable

finally having just finished hotd, all i can think about is that viserys might be a good dad (only for rhaenyra...) and a good architect, but rhaenys should`ve been a queen (although it`s also in question with how she murdered so many people just for her stupid stunt). but if she were the queen, then leech-Otto would not be the  hand, which means that there would not be a divorced lesbian couple  in a war cauesed by stupid men

i just think that it`s neat how the 2nd showed up to izuku during this time, when he looks really similar to katsuki not to be dramatic, poetic or some shit but it`s like some sort of comfort and reassuarance
