Thinking about a hypothetical video game where about 60-30 minutes of gameplay before you'd reach the final boss/collect all the shinies/explore the rest of the map the progression just. ceases. You cannot find a single new thing to collect, there's no more unexplored passages (you may see a couple, but you just can't reach them no matter what you try), no uncompleted quest lines, and/or you can't figure out how to finish the ones you do have, no new arrows on the map to point you in the right direction. You think you've lost the plot thread somewhere, you try looking everywhere to find something, anything, and maybe you do find a couple secrets you missed along the way, but other than that there's just straight up nothing left for you to do. your collection progress stays at 78/90 items, the final boss stays unbeaten, and the blank spots on the map are never filled in.
