Ok enough time has passed. And I saw a gif set on Twitter that brought it all back:

The first Brothel scene was hot, and Luke was hot in them. From a pure thirst standpoint, we are not talking about that enough.

I think we’re doing Luke Newton a disservice by being weird about them. People act like they were so traumatic, probably because they didn’t fit how people wanted Colin to act, and an expectation that we would only see him be physical with Penelope.

But LUKE??? Luke was hot in those scenes. He actually did create believable sexual energy with those actresses. Put some respect on that. The thigh grab? The kiss where he grabs the one girl’s face? He looked so good you forget the wig. That’s POWER ok??? And for him to say that it was awkward for him to do those scenes because he’d just met those actresses makes it all the more commendable that he pulled it off.

This is not saying that scene felt as intimate as a Polin scene. They didn’t, and that’s the point. Sexy and hot but meaningless. You can see that journey of how Colin can feel sexual satisfaction from that (or even feel like he’s doing something he’s good at) and feel like he’s doing the right thing because he’s able to get off at the very least, to not being able to compensate with just sexual gratification in the second brothel scene, to true intimacy with Penelope in the carriage and the mirror scene.

I’d just like Luke to get his credit as an actor for what he can do on his own, because he made those kisses look GOOD, ok? He deserves the “chemistry with everyone” label because they really sold the idea that those sex workers in that scene were sad to see him go and couldn’t wait to have him back.

I even feel like, ironically, what some people felt was missing from the second half of the season, post that really tender mirror scene - where Colin touched Penelope so reverently and worshipfully - was that what they wanted was some of the same level of sexual aggression Colin showed in the first brothel scene, but just directed at Penelope (which we only got a teeny bit of in the drunk angry Modiste street hook up).

So like… can we just admit that it was hot? And hope Colin gets a lil grabbier in S4! 😜

I hope they clear out and leave Luke to his actual fans, but I see they’re already making BS excuses as to why Luke still deserves to be bullied for the same things they’re now excusing Nicola for (no one needed to be bullied) AND also claiming that Luke must be fuming or jealous. They have to make winners and losers out of something that wasn’t even a game, let alone a competition.

The way Nicola Stans treat Luke is so objectifying and appalling, and they claim to be Luke fans so they have moral superiority while they do it, when they’re just as bad as haters.
