Formulaically, part of why Bad Buddy is so satisfying to experience is how time and time again we get to revisit scenarios that were originally angsty or ended with unresolved tension in happier contexts. Time and time again we get resolutions for tensions.

We get Pran applying the ointment first to himself

then we get Pat applying it for him but it’s still angsty because Pran is pining (as is Pat, though he hasn’t yet understood his feelings for Pran)

and then we get the payoff/resolution with one of Pran’s flashback reminiscing scenes when Wai was describing the tale of Kwan and Riam

plus a bonus of Pran applying it to Pat

same narrative structure for the face wiping
