Steven finally caved at your request to look at the rescue shelters. He wasn't convinced to get a pet, maybe a cat if you two could find a friendly one. But given how dangerous being associated with him was, putting an innocent pet through those kinds of situations.

Steven was hoping the shelters were empty.

But they weren't the cages were quite full of a wide variety of animals. Not just dogs, but Alterworld dogs, sonic speed monkeys, some even stranger pets that Steven wasn't entirely sure how to care for at all. And here you were petting a friendly owl-lynx between the bars. Steven wanted to herd you away from it, but even he couldn't deny that such a pet would be a very good guard pet.

Both of you stopped at a cage with a thin little dog just laying on the bedding. Poor old girl was thin as a rug and looked ready to pass on any minute now. But, as you knelt down, she got up and trotted over. Steven could tell there was a mess of fleas all over her, maybe she wasn't so old... just in need of someone to care for her.

Steven knelt down, letting her sniff at his hand. Only slightly surprised by her warm tongue and already starting to fall for the old girl. A volunteer came over, given how long the two of you were sitting there and playing with the dog. Offering to help get the paperwork all settled and sorted. Steven couldn't believe how quickly he fell for the dog's big eye trick.

Though being nearly soaked a couple hours later, water and flea soap drenching his old shirt, Steven felt like he was getting the raw end of the deal right now.

But you were coming with towels and a collar for your new pup, Hiza. You had been marking down vet visits for booster shots and check ups. But Steven wasn't likely to forget any of it. He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he was head over heels for this little old fluff to be.

Sure there were patches of fur missing, her breath was worse than raw sewage, and she desperately needed her nails trimmed a bit better; but Steven was more than willingly to see all that through. And you were sitting in the floor watching him being attacked with her tongue and trying, not very hard, to push her away.

It wasn't long at all, maybe a month, until Hiza had all her fur, a full belly, and all the love she could ever want. Though she was still an old puppy at 10 years old, but Steven treated her like a puppy. Many rounds of fetch across the apartment, daily walks with the three of you, and whatever else Steven could think up for a healthy dog to do. You couldn't help but smirk.

"What?"

"And here you didn't even want a pet."

"Hush."

Steven tugged you into a side hug as Hiza just looked up. Little toy flopping out of her mouth as her tail wagged.

Just a rant while I'm on break....

It annoys me so much that Zapp just randomly attacks Klaus. It makes very little sense at all. Like, Zapp knows Klaus is a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL FANG HUNTER that suffered the worst parts of letting one's guard down and poor reflexes.

Probably...the one-shot says yes but it isn't completely confirmed in the manga/anime....but there is evidence since Klaus sorta apologized the first time we see him seal a blood breed....but that's beside the point.

And sure, Klaus himself says this is normal and that Zapp is attempting redrum basically every day. And I get the joke, I really do.

Zapp just proving that Klaus is a pure bad&ss that could take me any day of the week and use me however he wants

But it reallt doesn't make sense even as an assassination attempt. It would make MORE sense if Zapp just did that to EVERYONE as a form of sneak/ambush training. Like

"Oh yeah, Leonardo be on your toes. Zapp enjoys sneaking up on people. He believes it will help with general fang hunting."

But whatever, sure... lets see Klaus snap Zapp over his knee [and as a fanbase be just shy enough to admit Klaus wouldn't have to fight us to get the same...gentler...version]

Five More Minutes [Raju x Reader]

Raju stirred a bit, not meaning to wake you but doing so anyways. Though the way you were still clinging to him made him feel like something was wrong. And he was quick to check your temperature. Brushing against your forehead as his basic understanding of huma's anatomy and wellbeing was that being too warm was a sign of illness.

You wiggled a bit, pushing his hand away gently.

"No, that's not it." You yawned, "I just want to stay put for a bit."

Raju thought about why you'd want to do this. Though still settled back into bed, rubbing your back. Weary about actually lulling you back to sleep. But still relishing that you were comfortable cuddling up to him like this.

So many things still felt like a dream to him. Like they shouldn't be happening... he would wake up soon and you wouldn't be here when he did. And Raju didn't like that idea at all.

You were just enjoying being so close to Raju. He was a rather sweet man... person. While it did take him a little while to even let you close like this, in any sense, this was so very worth all that effort. You felt perfectly safe snuggled under his last remaining arm.

It was a bit funny how stubborn he was about certain kinds of affection. Where he wanted you positioned when the two of you cuddled, how flustered he got when you could sneak up on him, how he fumbled in doing simple, domestic tasks.

Eventually you sat up, stretching and getting ready for the day. Though, Raju snuck his own sweet kiss on the cheek, just to make you blush.

Another Late Night [Steven x Reader]

Steven found himself staring down the bottom of his coffee mug again. The key indicator of a string of late nights spent coding, to save the world. Yippee. This was not how Steven wanted to be spending his Friday night, especially when you were insistent that you stay with him.

Sure he appreciated your company. Yes, he liked that you would stay up just to spend time with him, even though this was far from Steven's definition of ideal. But Steven would much rather spend time with you in any other way.

But Steven stood up, stretching before attempting to move. The code would be fine for the time it took for him to get a fresh cup of coffee after all. As he passed behind you, your head popped up. And much to Steven's dismay, you spritz yourself in the face with cold water.

"[Name], you don't have to force yourself through this." Steven leaned down, talking low and soothingly to try and make you fall asleep, "I really appreciate your efforts, but you should get some rest."

"I will when you do."

Steven just stared blankly for a second. It was a tempting offer. Nice warm bed, curling up around you and dozing to sleep. But he had to get this code up and running before these dumb-sses could unleash a super virus and turn half the human population into mutated animal hybrids.

Still, you didn't have to keep yourself awake. He knew you didn't understand how to code. So you were just being stubborn for moral support sake. While Steven understood why you'd be like this, he still wanted you to go to bed.

But, as he took a sip of coffee, he knew that you'd either pass out where you sat... or you'd stay awake just long enough to drag him to bed with you.

Party!! [Leo x Reader]

Leo groaned in frustration. This wasn't working, at all. Sure, he could go grab another cake mix and call his boss for pointers... but Leo felt that it was a bit too late for a homemade cake. Not when you'd be here in three hours or so.

"Well, time for plan B, Sonic." The little monkey had fled the kitchen when Leo opened the oven but was cautiously poking his head back in, "Though I guess it's more like plan 895..."

As Leo made his way back through the city, careful to not drop the little box of cupcakes while balancing a grocery bag. He was being extra alert because of this. Unfortunately...

"LEO!!"

His grimace was almost palpable, "Not today Zapp. I'm busy."

"Oh, well excuse me... Are those cupcakes?"

"Not for you!" Leo backed up several paced from the silver haired sleaze ball, "These are for [Name]. Its her birthday after all."

"Aaaawwwww." The older male teased, "Gonna be a good little boyfwiend and get her some cupcakes??"

"Buzz off Zapp! Don't make me call Klaus!"

"Jeez, alright sheesh!" He rolled his eyes and made to walk off, "But I'm getting one of those cupcakes!!"

Leo made a mad dash through the back alleys. This was not what he wanted to deal with today!!

You had tried so very hard to tell Leo that you didn't need a birthday party. That you'd be perfectly fine just hanging out for a little while... and maybe spending the night if he wanted. But a full party was something else entirely.

But, you had a sneaking suspicion that all your insistence had fallen on deaf ears. Both Leo's and Sonic's. Though Leo did mention he wouldn't mind if you wanted to stay the night too. That alone had you feeling just a little giddy as you climbed the stairs to the little flat Leo was renting.

Leo jumped at the knocking, despite knowing it was you. He really wanted this to be nice... even if you had said it was completely unnecessary. BUT a little party for two and half, just sitting and watching your favorite movies half the night. That seemed to be just within the bounds of "not a party" to Leo.

None of that mattered in the slightest as Leo fumbled the door knob however. But hearing that soft giggle from you made Leo's heart skip a beat.

"[Name]." Leo tried to hide his blush, and nerves, with a hug, "Happy Birthday."

"Thanks Leo." You leaned up a little, threatening to go on tiptoe into his hug, "I-"

Sonic was squeaking from somewhere in the apartment before appearing on Leo's shoulder. He was patting Leo's shoulder almost like he was angry? You could never tell.

"Hello to you to Sonic." He leaned into your hand as you patted him, "I guess you were trying to say 'Happy Birthday' too, huh?"

Apparently not... Sonic started tugging on Leo's ear and pointing to the kitchen. The way Leo's eyes almost opened gave away something you weren't entirely sure you wanted to find out about.

"Oh, right!" Leo gasped, "Uh... [Name], could you wait in the living room? I gotta check something."

"Alright Leo."

You closed the door behind yourself, taking off your shoes to leave by the door, and went to sit on Leo's bed. Sadly his apartment wasn't equipped with a bedroom, so the living room was his bedroom.

Certainly made for easier cuddling on movie nights.

Just as you were settling in, looking around at the array of items on the table, you realized just how much of it was stuff you liked. A little plate of... slightly messy... cupcakes, a selection of your favorite candy bars, favorite sodas, and a stack of the movies you liked watching. It made you just a little giddy to know that this was the 'party' Leo had in mind for the night.

"AH!" You nearly stood up when Leo cried out, "Ow, ow, ow. Don't worry [Name]! just forgot to grab the oven mitt!"

You got up anyways. But Sonic met you before you could fully stand, smacking into your face and knocking you back onto the bed. When Sonic finally moved, Leo was standing in the doorway holding a large bowl of fresh popcorn.

"I know you didn't want a party," He began sheepishly, "But I couldn't just not celebrate my favorite person's special day."

You could feel your heart melting. Words failed you, as they seemed to do frequently. Instead you stood up, this time without Sonic tackling your face, and squeezed Leo in a tight hug. Though you were still interrupted by Sonic trying to wiggle his way in between the two of you. Both you and Leo chuckled as Sonic wormed his way under your necks.
