Leo would have had his ass handed to him but think of the comic potential that could have been! So to make up for it we agreed to do a little something after the finale. The creators of Rise said in an interview that they wanted Rise to be distinct from the 2012 series which gave them the idea for the hidden city saying “everything from the 2012 series came from the sky, so in Rise everything is from the ground” 

So villains like Big Mama & Draxum, and the hidden city, all come from below rather than outer space & the contrast between Rise & the 2012 show is shown really well in the opening.

In the 2012 opening we see the sky before we see the manhole cover while in the Rise opening we see the manhole cover before we see the sky. It’s a cool kind of parallel
