Sansa Stark & Podrick Payne : The Lions, A Lady And A Knight

Sansa stark & Podrick Payne : the lions, A Lady and a Knight
Princess and the squire : a princess who aspires to be the ultimate image of a lady, a squire who "trains" under a brave chivalrous knight
Crush : its layed out that Pod probably has a crush on sansa or is shy around her, she's completely oblivious to this however.
Pets : Sansa's direwolf being known as lady for her personality, Pod had a dog named hero it kinda makes me cry
Orphaned Hostage : Both parents being dead or absent . Sansa's been in an hostage situation since book 1 and podrick...He's FINE ok , maybe Podrick has been taken as a hostage by lady stoneheart thats a reason why Brienne goes along with the deal of bringing Jaime to stoneheart.
Lions : For house Lannister , sansa is surrounded by Lannisters, almost married Lancel and now is married to Tyrion,Podrick’s house is sworn under Lannisters , he squires for Tyrion might be knighted by a Lannister. Lannisters have their colours as red and gold, it’s unconfirmed why house Payne has gold coins on their sigils but might be related to the saying of “Lannisters always pays their debts”
Slaying giants (?) : for sansa its self explanatory for eventually slaying petyr but for pod....OK hear me out before you stone me i think i'd be sick if Pod was the one to slay(or help slay) lem lemoncloak in the same way jaime helped slay the smiling knight as a squire of Arthur dayne, he already pushed a knight in the rivers🤷🏽♀️. There’s a chance Jaime will knight brienne and podrick once they defeat stoneheart’s brotherhood. He constantly talks about killing people who want to harm brienne that’s my baby✨
Yvain, the Knight of the Lion : mostly allusions as he squires under 2 Lannisters (Tyrion and Jaime being there as a possibility in the future ) but could also be taken for brienne’s travels/relations with Jaime in the riverlands and cersei as the spurned lady, strangely brienne teaches a Payne to fight and a Payne trained Jaime for awhile, if podrick is turning 15 in twow he’d be the same age as Jaime when he was knighted. yvain also slayed a giant, killed 3 knights and his cousin was killed in an enchanted forest (Cedric in the riverlands) and had a story involving coins.
rhaena targaryen parallels: im DEEPLY reaching here but consider the allusions and opposite parallels of sansa and rhaena targaryen, in the end she marries Garmund hightower unexpectedly , garmund was also a noble squire ,both came from families who hated each other, both podrick and sansa are around the same age as were garmund and rhaena
Courtly love : Sansa's story involves LOTS of arranged marriages, plans and schemes without much care for her happiness or done for political gain it'd be nice if she at least gets to choose her lover in the future, courtly love in medieval romances/poetry often involved a Lady who's arranged marriages were mostly out of obligation/economic value and a knight who's romantic love or devotion was experienced outside of the marriage, the Knight was pious, brave, often of lower status and chivalrous while often having quests in the lady's name or affection, Podrick is currently on his own quest to find tyrion in relation to brienne's quest to find sansa, it’s not marriage but courtly love could also be an answer to sansa's wish of romanticism that's been denied to her throughout the story.
Roman de la rose : a poem related to courtly love depicting a Lady as a rose, Sansa's often associated with flowers, she's given a red rose by loras tyrell
Princesse lointaine : related to courtly love of an unattainable princess, Pod is often extremely awkward with sansa, she's closed off emotionally in king's landing and she seems far away while he's trying to find her but they haven’t met up again in the story how they interact later on is yet to be seen

Going thru a breakup so I shall be absent for a time but one more thought I need to eke out here is that I think a lot of disagreement comes from the difference between people analyzing what’s likely based on THEMES and ARCS and stuff from a meta perspective versus people analyzing things based strictly on lore and what is present in text. The Nettles Valyrian debate is a prime example of this. Based entirely off of lore and lore alone, sure, we don’t really have a good reason to say that Nettles has no Valyrian blood. And if you’re coming to conclusion based only on the lore, placing your point of view inside the story, of course you’re going to be confused about why people are so insistent that Nettles isn’t Valyrian. But if you consider what it would do for the THEMES for her to be Valyrian or not, place your point of view inside George’s head, conduct analyses based on speculation as to WHY George decided to remark on certain things and what he was trying to say. Then you can start to see why we think George didn’t intend for Nettles to be Valyrian. It’s like. If a character in a story has a pet bird and the bird suddenly starts making noise in its cage. You could find evidence in the story about this bird making noise and things in the environment that the author created that might have spooked the bird. Or you could consider why the author decided to have the bird vocalize. I don’t really know where I’m going with this. Just thoughts from a tired tired brain after a great deal of crying
It was Aerys' fault. Dragonestone was the safest place for them. It was not him who brought them to kingslanding.
There is no one person at fault. To say it is Aerys’s fault alone is just as wrong as saying it is only Rhaegar’s, Tywin’s, or Gregor’s. The tragedy of Elia and her children may have been avoided if any one of these men had acted differently. Had Rhaegar acted differently he may have been able to prevent his family from being brought to King’s Landing. If Tywin hadn’t ordered the murders, they almost certainly wouldn’t have happened. Had Gregor and Amory not so being gleefully willing to kill an innocent woman and her small children, they may have been able to survive. Aerys created the situation; Tywin, Gregor, and Amory killed them; and Rhaegar failed to be there for them. Doesn’t mean that there is no honor in Rhaegar wanting to save the realm from the Others. He’s a fascinating character. It’s more worth talking about what Rhaegar could’ve done to protect them because, of all 5 of these men, he’s the only one who would have. His relationship with them was dysfunctional but I do believe he did care for them. That sets him apart from the other culpable characters. He cared enough to let Elia in on his council and even tell her about the prophecy to some extent. If rumors are to be believed, he cared enough to try to get rid of Aerys. He still could have acted with more caution to ensure the safety of his family. If he could hide Lyanna in the tower of joy, he could’ve hidden Elia and the kids. Being on Dragonstone is not hidden when you are married to the prince of Dragonstone.
Rhaegar doesn’t have to like Elia.
She isn't that important but to the Dornish plot.
You tried to make a good post, and I appreciate your trying, but you are just wrong.
He wanted to have some joy. He is a grey character. I understand how you all want the best man whom Elia ALMOST had to love her but he doesn't have to.
More hate to Gregor, Armory and Tywin should be discussed and not Rhaegar. He was a good guy.
Beloved I never said Rhaegar loved her. But he did like her and trust her. He brought her into his council meetings and told her about the prophecy. You are putting a lot of words and opinions in my mouth and being very condescending while doing so. I’m not a particularly big fan of Elia, Rhaegar, or Lyanna. I like all three characters, but none are big focuses for me.
Rhaegar is a grey character yes, that is why it is interesting to discuss how he might’ve kept his family safe—because he’s a good enough person that he might have done so. There would be nothing to talk about if he was just evil because it’s not something he would’ve done then.
The Dorne plot is………… part of the grander story. To be important to the Dorne plot is to be important. Do you consider Young Griff to be part of the Dorne plot? Whether or not he’s actually Aegon, he is claimed to be Elia’s son.
Cool ok watch how discussions of Gregor go:
“Wow, isn’t it so fucked up what Gregor did?”
“Yeah he’s so evil he really deserved to die and I’m glad Oberyn got his revenge”
“Yeah he really is evil and fucked up”

There’s no grey in him. He’s just evil. Of course I hate his guts. But because, unlike Rhaegar, there isn’t any grey, there isn’t much fodder for discussion.
Dove Cameron could’ve been a great Viserra or Dany and Anya Taylor-Joy could’ve been a great Daenys or Saera but they’ve both had work done that makes them no longer belong in this setting to me

Actresses who should play Targaryens:
LADY GAGA and I am so serious about her as Shiera

TILDA SWINTON: Elaena, anyone? Or actually even Visenya. I know everyone loves making gifs with that one woman from Vikings but Visenya is said to be austere. Elaena is a great choice too because I think Tilda really could embody “more beautiful at 70 than at 17”

Mia Goth: she’s got that otherworldly look. Could be Daella or Deana the Defiant

Hunter Schaefer: she has a very striking facial structure and with her smile that’s a bit angled up to one side, I think she’d be a great Alyssa

Gemma Ward: EXTREMELY ethereal. I’d pick her for Daenys, Rhaenys the conquerer, Naerys, or even Dany

Julia Garner: perhaps Rhaena the black bride or Deena the defiant?

Abbey Lee Kershaw: perhaps Saera as an adult? She has such striking features and a real intensity to her

Bella Heathcote: Rhaena daughter of Aegon III, perhaps? Could also do Naerys or Dany
