but basically yeah russel&murdoc best most insane friendship ever and i'd maybe even hesitate to call it a friendship because they're just villainous to each other. but in such a weirdly caring way? they're on such even footing especially in early phases, more so than any of the other band members, that they like will not hesitate to put each other in their place at all.

and i also think that russel is the only person in the world that murdoc can just straight up accept criticism from. NOT outwardly but if russel tells him he needs to work on something he takes it seriously and it stays on his mind even if he doesn't ever work on it.

but also they're so silly sooo silly... they like joking at each other's expense in interviews, they love bullying each other... they take the piss out of each other so much but in their own special way <3 being mean and nasty IS their love language.. they wake up and cause problems for each other on purpose... but there's no power imbalance between them AT ALL so when they do it's more like a game they play for fun than anything real.

and obviously they do take each other seriously. like i think in early phases they're the two who can communicate the most straight up and honestly and seriously, like they can Talk to each other. and like obviously despite everything they do have a huge amount of respect for each other. murdoc is in awe of russel's musical knowledge and ability. russel thinks murdoc's music is good enough to stay with him for. they admire each other's talent and taste a lot i think.

but also their domestic dynamic is just insane and they act literally insane around each other in the house, naturally. <3
