I finally rewatched the Bad Batch finale yesterday - it was actually a lot easier to watch the second time through when I wasn't hoping for/dreading a CX2 = Tech reveal. Still cried buckets over the finale.

I LOVE the fact that Hunter and Crosshair worked together to save Omega, the one who had brought them back together and given them a common goal.

But, given the perspective of CX2 being a "shadow" of Crosshair, I also find it fascinating that Hunter is the one who struck the final blow against CX2.

Hunter and Crosshair were at odds as soon as Order 66 came through. Despite Hunter telling Crosshair they could part ways without being enemies, it is clear there was still plenty of hurt and betrayed feelings on both sides. Crosshair wouldn't accept Hunter's offers of help and the chances to return back to the squad in season 1, and we all know what resulted: Crosshair, the sniper (a role that usually calls for maintaining physical distance from the rest of the group), remained a solitary clone; and despite his loyalty to the Empire, ultimately he was betrayed in the worst ways by his superiors.

All through season 3, Crosshair appears reluctant to accept anyone's love and support, and he even tells his brothers in the finale that he should go in to Tantiss alone because it's "what he deserves."

But Crosshair can't take on Tantiss by himself, he can't take on the assassin clones by himself, and it is only with Crosshair and Hunter working together that Crosshair is finally able to rid himself of the shadow of what he might have become.

Crosshair never deserved to be alone; and now that he's back with his family, he doesn't ever have to be.
