I have no expectation that Spirk will be canon an any new trek (and frankly I don't think I'd even trust paramount to try), but I do still need them to make Kirk and Spock weird about each other. If they're not weird about each other, it ain't them.

Because they're so ridiculously devoted to one another, y'know? Devoted and, frankly, adoring. They like each other so much. They are each other's Most Important Person. That's just. canon. It's In The Text. There is no one like Jim Kirk for Spock, and no one like Spock for Jim Kirk. It is not possible for anyone else to fill that position in their lives.

They have got to let them be weird about each other.

but overall it's certainly *emotionally* truer than even the truth could be sort of situation. genuinely emotionally intimate finally. <- prev tag its so indicative of his arc of growth he literally says the only reason hes telling him this is bc hes an ‘unfinished man’ and the only person who could understand him is bashir hes trying to be a better person for and bc of cardassia and the only reason hes even capable of trying is bashir so like he fully knows what hes doing and its so cringe and beyond painful for him but. to use someone elses analogy of intamacy being a hot stove that he longs to touch he realizes that he needs to build up that pain tolerance if hes ever gonna be happy a realization he starts to come to as early as their last scene together in the book where he tells him about his dream hes really trying so hard. like he literally just wants to be who he wouldve been if not for tain and he knows this is the first actually meaningful but painful step and as for the unreliable narrator part its literally not on purpose. he even says at one point its hard to keep all the stories straighf homie literally kinda just forgot lol anyway I love him so much its insane how many feelings I have over him and asit edosian orchid hrs garak thoughts
