WATCHING HIM SIT ON your bed suddenly it feels a lot more real and a whole lot scarier. Maybe you should have just baked a cake with the colors of the flag, or given him a shoujo with a protagonist who identifies like you. Or you could just but it out… wait, what?

“I am asexual."

In a matter of a second red eyes connect with yours, “Okay." he says calmly, blink sheepishly at your sudden outburst. Standing up from you seat at the desk to start pacing around the room, “I am not saying this because I don't want to have sex with you. I don't want to have sex with you. But it's not because of you, it's because of me." you add on, a little panicked at his calming expression.

Closing his manga to fully give you the attention this topic deserves, his head tilts, “Why are you crying?" he asks. Raising your fingertips to your cheek, they are indeed wet. Something you didn’t even realises, “I don't know." you whisper, letting your hand fall to your side.

Standing up from his seating positions, he pulls you with him to sit on the bed. Letting you take a breath, he rubs circles into your hand, “Don’t people usually do this in like a grand gesture or a cake at least." he says.

Making you chuckle at the sudden statement, “You don't like cakes." you whisper, leaning your head to his chest. Humming, he nods, “I know, but I would have eaten it if it had a flag in it."

Lifting your head up, he cups your cheeks. Gently whiping them clean with the back of his thumbs, “Hey, I know... I know that I'm mean to you sometimes." he says. Making you nod, “But I like you a lot and that is not going to change."

A small smiles tucks up your lips at the softness, “You are all sappy now." you giggle. Making him roll his eyes as he looks away, “Shut up, I'm trying to be nice.” your boyfriend grumbles.

Wrapping your arms around him, you rest your head on his shoulder, “Thank you, dumbass."

“Don't call me dumbass, dumbass." he whispers back. Holding on to him, he rubs your back, “…Can we still have a cake?" he whispers. Nodding, you can’t help but smile at how well it went, “Sure.”

Akaashi Keiji knew you liked him.

Of course he would, given that he pays attention to every detail in his surroundings— a trait that he had to inhabit at the beginning of his highschool volleyball career, always having to keep Bokuto's mood and well-being in check. Aside from that, your crush was extremely obvious; anyone would have noticed from how you would always avoid his gaze, how you get easily flustered around him, and how you would always stammer when you start talking to him. At this point, Keiji wouldn't be surprised if the stray cat you've been feeding knew your not-so-secret crush about him as well.

Akaashi Keiji was observant, and you? Not so much— maybe that's why until now, you were still hesitating to confess, afraid that it might ruin the friendship you have built when in fact, he also feels the same way.

Gaining this as his advantage, Keiji decided to push your buttons (in a good way) and he already had everything planned out. He would tease you little by little until you reach your limit. And of course he doesn't mean any harm from that, if anything, he actually wants you to confess to him already so he can take you out on a date.

And that plan starts now.

Keiji sits down close to you— maybe a little bit too close, too close that your thighs would be touching already if it wasn't for the 2 inch gap that is barely separating you.

With this, your eyes immediately went to the floor. Cute, Akaashi thinks to himself.

"Y/n," the setter starts to which you hum. "I need help with English and I heard you're good at it,"

(In truth, Keiji was in the top 5 of English class. But that was all he could think of … especially since that's what you were exceptionally excellent at)

Your heart hammers against your chest— just the thought of being alone with Akaashi and having to actually talk to him made your heart beat erratically. You were pretty sure he could hear it now, although scientifically, it wasn't possible. (But still, the thought of him hearing it was so embarrassing that it brought heat to your cheeks)

Akaashi glances at your ear with a strand of hair tucked behind it. Bright red was visible from where he sat and Keiji chuckles to himself— could you be any cuter than this?

"I was thinking, would it be alright for you to teach me later? After Volleyball practice?" He says as he moves closer to you— this time there was no gap between you two. He made sure it was breathy enough to tickle the sides of your face and push you over the edge.

A surge of heat went towards your cheeks once again.

"Y-yes! T-that would be fine!" You stutter before instinctively moving away from your crush. You almost fell off of the bench— well at least two of Keiji's goals happened.

Akaashi grins, "Make sure you keep your words, sweetheart," (somewhere in the gym, Konoha fake vomits)

That was the last straw.

Your heart just bursted and if your face was placed beside a Tomato, no one could have told the difference. In pressure of what to say, you suddenly blurt out loudly:

"Of course, bud!"

(Somewhere in the gym, Konoha laughs)

Keiji didn't know whether he should be celebrating over the fact that he broke you or should he be rethinking the decisions he made because he just got friend-zoned by the person who has a crush on him. A crush on him.

On the other side of the spectrum, you find yourself slapping yourself mentally. Did you just accidentally leave your crush on friendzone? You can't believe it— you certainly were at a different level of helpless.

Back to Akaashi's own thoughts, he only shrugs. You both have more time later to maybe develop things a little bit more.

A/N → this headcanon came to me when i was drinking hot coco & it burned my tongue. which made me think about how shouto would probably hate the feeling of hot water on his skin — as we know — and the shower wouldn’t be exempt from that.

AS THE WATER HITS your back, you let out a small yelp at the unexpected cold. Taking a step forward, you turn around reaching for the knob but before you could he holds your body closer to his, “Don’t.”

Turning around in his hold, you can’t see his eyes. Pushing the hair out of his face, your brows furrow at the panicked in his eyes, “Please…” he mumbles. Nodding you wrap your arms around his shoulders, leaning into him.

“Guess you will just have to hold me.” you say softly, your teeth unconsciously rattling, “Is it really cold?” he asks softly. Nodding, you wipe some water off your face, “It’s basically freezing.” you chuckle.

“I’m sorry—” he starts, “Don’t. It’s okay.” you say cutting him off. Standing fully back on your feet again, you place a small kiss on his chest before leaning your forehead against him, “I would do anything for you.”

Feeling the warmth run over your back, you relax into his touch. The kiss om the top of your head, making your heart flutter. Sighing, you trace a pattern into his skin, “Do you not want to know why?”

Looking up to his face, you tilt your head, “Do you want to tell me?” you ask instead of answer his question. Humming, he traces his finger up from your waist to your face. Before cupping your skin, “I want to tell you everything.”

Nodding, you lean into the touch of his hand. You know he would, he tells you everything and anything when you ask him why he does certain things. But telling you, and wanting to and being ready to are completely diffrent things.

When you started going out on dates he always ate cold soba. When asked he said it was his comfort food, something he had been eating forever but particularity in high school. Now, you didn’t know him then but what he did tell you is that hot water or food close to his face makes him uncomfortable.

Now with that in mind you can connect the dots as to why he showers with cold water, “You can tell me when you’re ready.” you reassure. A small smile is present on his face as he sighs, his shoulders relaxing in the process as he rests his forehead against yours.

“Thank you.”
