A year late to the sonic 2 bandwagon but I came up with a wholesome headcanon as Sonic's new friends start settling in with him, Tom & Maddie in green hills.

Sonic takes the duo on a house tour and knuckles is super invested in the bathroom- also to no surprise sonic mentions that they definitely need a bath, but knuckles shrugs it off saying what he smells like is not terrible. Sonic brings up the idea of a bubble bath, and he gets Tom and Maddie to start up the tub. Sonic would get super excited, and then bring up the idea of getting one of his glittery bath bombs to put in. Knuckles is slightly hesitant of the idea of sitting in water, unless it's a cold water fall. Tails is super chill with everything.

I think Maddie would help scrub out all of the muck that is in each of their fur while talking about a bunch of different things (tails loves to just talk about technology and Maddie just asks him all kinds of questions about it). Knuckles and sonic blow bubbles at each other and bits of water gets on the floor. It gets into knuckles eye at some point and he almosts causes a wreck in the wall. Tom would bring out the old vintage camera to take a cheesy family picture because the moment was too adorable (and also cause he could scrapbook it as perfect embarrassing family photo to rub it in later- like any "cool" dad would)
