basically the point of melanie’s characterization though is that she’s NOT evil. i’ve talked to friends before and it’s funny to joke around and say she’s just awful, but i’m really trying to make her a flawed young girl. i’m REALLY trying to base her off the movie Pearl because my friend told me about it and it’s literally her ❤️

like is melanie a good person? absolutely not! she’s homophobic and selfish and entitled and plays innocent/manipulates very often to get her way. but she’s not EVIL. she absolutely HATES killing people, and everything she does that isn’t just rotten kid behavior is her genuinely trying to survive and cope as a mentally ill girl. obviously it doesn’t excuse Killing People or being a shitty person, but you can clearly see why she does it

i’m just really hoping that if this gets any sort of traction, people aren’t going to give her The Female Character Treatment, especially because of how complex i’m trying to make her (CLUELESS)

Doctor red flags:

-Mentions weight loss, exercise, nutrition, mental wellness, before any physical examination/testing

-interrupts you

-tries to rush the appointment

-laughs at you

-says you're too young

-Touches you without warning or asking for consent (common with older male doctors unfortunately, but is becoming less common)

-accuses you of self dxing/mentions dr. Google

Do not be afraid to drop a doctor/caregiver and see a new one. Doctor shopping is a term made by ableds who believe every doctor is perfect. Your health is precious and you should only trust those you're comfortable with to take care of it. Do not feel bad about offending the doctor. They do not care. They won't harass you or question you (if they do then that's..probably illegal). I know its hard with some insurances or lesser served areas so don't feel bad if you can't, but if you have the option to do so do not be afraid.

Extra tip: Most doctors will behave themselves if you bring an advocate. Even just having a friend sit quietly will help.
