Raised an incredibly kind, intelligent daughter without receiving any help from her parents or Christopher, rose up to running the inn and then opening her own very successful inn.

People forget that Rory and the Friday Night Dinners were a chance for Emily and Richard to reconnect with a their estranged daughter and grand- daughter and while for the most part they were loving and nurturing with Rory, Emily was especially impatient and mean with Lorelai. Grandparents tend to be nicer to their grandchildren. Rory was much more comfortable asking for money from Richard and Emily than Lorelai.

Rory may be a (understandably) disappointing character but Gilmore Girls has many other role models- especially for its younger audiences- to look up to
