good news everyone!
my chair's royally fucked! and I can't afford to fix it!
long story short, my secondhand chair's had steering issues since the day I got it. today, it started doing this fun new thing where it won't stop. I can release the joystick entirely, or even drive backwards, and it still continues forward for at least 2-3 feet, sometimes more depending on momentum and speed. today I almost drove onto the subway tracks because my chair wouldn't stop. tldr my chair is no longer safe to operate.
this is the estimate for one (1) hour of labour. costs will be more if they need to replace parts or go over the hour. I can't go anywhere without my wheelchair. no doctor's appointments. no hospital visits. no specialists. I can't leave my home at all until this is fixed. I also have zero room in my below poverty level budget to pay for this.
anyway if anyone has a spare dollar or two and wouldn't mind giving me a hand, I'd really appreciate it. you can also commission me to knit you something (see @yarnhoard for my work) if that feels better.
