I've sent this thought to another blog and I hope I can articulate this well:

My opinion when it comes to butches that wear "fem" clothes is that if men can do it and still be seen as men why couldn't butches do the same? There's more to this thought but I don't think I can really put it that well into words, and that's basically the gist of my own thoughts.

I have to say, I really appreciate your take on it all, especially the part of butch is in the person, not the presentation.

i really appreciate this! i totally agree with you- butches are allowed to be GNC, and that includes being GNC for a butch. a butch wearing feminine clothing doesn't change who they are underneath! same with femmes who dress masc- they're not any less femme because of how they dress. i've met many femmes who enjoy dressing masc and that's fine, they're still femme

i do feel right at home identifying as a butch who dresses femme- to me, i think that's a wonderful form of genderqueerness and gender non conformity. and i'm glad you like that! butch is about who you are, not how you dress. alison bechdel's "dykes to watch for" has several butches who are seen wearing feminine clothing, and vice versa. queer identities are too complex to be bundled up into neat little packages.
