A/N: This has been sitting in my drafts for actually months, in honour of him coming home I finally got around to proofreading it

FALLING IN LOVE:

it'll take some time to get him to warm up to you since he's not used to havig and keeping relationships, even platonically

He wants to know you as a friend first and falls in love with you later

when he falls in love, he ponders on what it is he's feeling first (for a long time)

he's an alchemist and hasn't spend much time in the company of others, so he doesn't understand feelings that well

would have no idea what's happening

doesn't know why he's feeling this awkward when he's around you

he has this desire to make everything right when you are there (he just wants to impress you)

Somebody else would probably have to tell him that these feelings are normal (and what they are) -it's Kaeya, who says in passing how obvious the alchemist's crush on you is and Albedo frantically looks around to check wether you've heard-

Suddenly, everything makes sense to him. How he always looks forward to seeing you, how he can't seem to concentrate or look away from you when you're there, how he worries when you're late more than he does with others

But now he has the problem of talking to you without immideatly telling you how he feels

He is scared that you'll reject him and will "test" some things (he'll try to fluster you and see if it works and wether it's because of him or the compliments). He will only try to confess when he is very sure you like him back

When he finally decides to do it, he plans his confession out and wants it to be perfect

he's still kind of scared that you'll reject him because he has no idea how romantic relationships work, even if he's sure you like him

he tries not to, but he will become quite distant mentally, (nothing very unusual, but now it's you on his mind instead of experiments (not that you know that)), even though the time he physically spends with you will be longer than before (slowly but surely, he doesn't want to rush you and make you question what he's doing)

CONFESSION:

For his confession, he plans. A lot.

he wants to make it special and wants you to remember it (to him, you only deserve the best)

he will probably plan some sort of picnic, either in Dragonspine (why? it's where he works, so he knows every spot there (also, he wants an excuse to give you his jacket when you're cold)) or near Mondstadt. He will have -a lot- some of his artificial flowers. Depending on how cold it is, he might modify them so that they emit some heat and they will be flying around and bringing you food

Now, as you're sitting there, he's hesitant, even though he knows you like him back

He's confused because the rational part of his mind knows this. But there's still something in him that is convinced you'll reject him for whatever reason.

In the end, when he does confess, you won't even know he'd been nervous

WHAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS LIKE:

Overall the sweetest and kindest boyfriend in the world

If you like them and you told him this before, expect to be randomly lifted by his flowers, especially if he sees that you are trying to get something from high up and can't reach it

He doesn't understand the point of teasing soemone and he would prefer if you didn't tease him too much either

He would probably want to show you a lot of his experiments (as long as you don't mind, of course), but wants you to stay back far enough so you won't get hurt.

Let's you do little experiments yourself, although they are only ones he knows nothing CAN go wrong

He loves giving you things, his gifts usually consist of his experiemnts, he'd rather give you something he spent his time on than just buy you something

Will ramble on an on about something interesting he found while the two of you are cuddling.

Probably apologizes for this for the first few times, until you tell him you don't mind and that you like his voice

He will also always listen to you, he thinks it's only fair since you listen to him as well

Always invites you to join him with his experiments and expeditions on Dragonspine, but never pressures you

Asks you to take an experienced adventurer with you unless you are one yourself if you ever go up pr down the mountain without him

Prefers if you go up together, though (also because he -unconciously- tries to impress you with his knowledge)

You are the only person that can stop him from overworking by offering cuddles (please make use of this power, even if it's only for 10 minutes)

He spends a lot of time with his experiments and will not come down from Dragonspine for weeks at a time, which is why he takes you with him. You remind him that there are other things than experimenting and he doesn't have to miss you when you're with him

If you can ever not go with him, he will write you letters that he will let the expeditions that bring him new materials deliver to you

Probably has a big, heated tent or cave somewhere on Dragonspine where the two of you sleep

If you're a knight and have to do paperwork, you do it either in there or in his lab cave

If you're an adventurer, you go out to clear comissions in and around Dragonspine and then come back to him

You also remind him that he has to go back to the city one in a while

When he is in Modstadt and not working in the Headquarters, he loves to spend all of his time with you (it's still not that much in the beginning, but he learns and wants to spend more time with you and on the relationship)

You go on dates and, no matter where you go or for how long, most end with him painting or sketching you (don't blame him, he thinks you're beautiful and wants to preserve that beauty on paper)

PHYSICAL AFFECTION:

I think Albedo is a morning person, he gets up early to start his experiments and tries his best not to wake you

He gives you a small peck on the forehead and then gets ready and leaves

He thinks you don't know, but sometimes him shuffling around wakes you up but, hey, it's not like you're complaining

Throughout the day, whenever he sees you, he will give you a short kiss or a peck on the cheek or he will hug for a short moment

Once he retires for the day (and if you're not already asleep) he will cuddle you and not let go

This is also when his kisses get longer and he holds you even closer

He won't let go of you for the whole night and if you have to stand up for whatever reason... good luck

He doesn't sleep that well without you anymore, which he sometimes sees as inconvenient but doesn't actually mind that much

ARGUMENTS:

Arguments between the two of you rarely happen and if they do, they're mostly about him overworking himself

Those usually get resolved just as quick since he doesn't like fighting with you and knows it will only steal time that can be spent on better things

He really really appreciates you being there for and with him every step of the way and if he falls in love with you, it's going to stay that way forever (pls don't leave him ever, he probably wouldn't be able to take it)

Both of you learn to communicate whenever you have a disagreement, and if it's not possible right away, you do so the next morning

Flower's Fort

A/N: The first day of this project, I hope you like it.

"I'm home, my flower"

You heard Sucrose calling and the front door shutting behind her. It was getting colder and you knew that she was outside almost all day today helping Albedo with an experiment. So, knowing it world take time and that she would be cold, you planned a little something for her.

"I'm in the living room" There were no commissions for you today so you had enough time to prepare your suprise. You had taken every blanket and pillow in the House to build the perfect pillowfort for you and your girlfriend.

The Living room had a changed appearance entirely. The space in side was filled with snacks and fairy lights, both of which you knew that she would enjoy. You left the cavelike structure to welcome your exhausted girlfriend.

"Hi sweets. Welcome home!" You called out to her once she was in front of you.

"Hello. What's all this?"

"This? It's for you."

You stepped to the siede, revealing the entrance to the pillowfort. All your hard work (and being stuck in blankets While trying to build it) payed off immediately once you saw her eyes Light up.

"Wow! Really? You didn't have to do that!"

"Yes I did, now come in!"

She followed you into the cavernlike structure floored with blankets.

"Do you like it? "you asked, despite already knowing her answer.

"I love it! Thank you so much!" Her voice was so excited, it was really cute.

When both of you were inside, you cuddled close together, feeding each other with the snacks and talking about your day. It was the perfect start of the christmas time both you and her could have had.

More scary waters, by popular demand!

Since my last post ranking bodies of water really, really blew up, I decided to make a second. Some of these were suggested by people (in which case I’ll credit them), and some were just ones that didn’t quite make the cut for the first list.

I’ll also be doing a third list ranking the most toxic bodies of water in the world, so stay tuned for that.

Also, keep in mind that these aren’t ranked by how dangerous they are. They’re ranked by how scary I, personally, find them. So if the rating seems off, it’s due to which ones inspire a visceral reaction in me and which ones don’t.

Silfra Rift, Iceland

This one is something that I actually find very beautiful rather than scary, but it still seems like something that others might be freaked out by. The Silfra Rift is the point where the Eurasian and North American continental plates are pulling apart, creating a crack in the earth that filled with water. The water here is incredibly clear, and you can see all the way down to the bottom even in the deepest spots (which are almost 200 feet down, by the way). It’s the only place in the world where you can put your hands on two different continents at the same time! I’ve had the privilege of snorkeling here, and although it’s definitely deep, I wasn’t terribly scared due to the fact that the rift is just so beautiful. The only danger to swimmers is the temperature; it stays between 35-39 F year-round, meaning anyone getting into the water needs a full drysuit to avoid getting hypothermia or worse. I give the Silfra Rift a 1/10 fear rating because I thought I would be much more freaked out by it than I was.

Dragon Hole, China

While not as visually striking as the Great Blue Hole in Belize, this sinkhole in China is the deepest “blue hole” in the world. This pit descends 987 feet down. This earns a 2/10 purely because this is just a goddamn hole in the ocean that’s almost 1,000 ft deep and I don’t care for that.

Lake Tanganyika, multiple countries (suggested by @iguessiamhere)

This lake didn’t quite make the cut for the first list because it comes in second to Lake Baikal. It’s the second-oldest, second-deepest, and second-largest (by volume) lake in the world. But someday, Lake Tanganyika may be number 1, because just like Baikal, it’s a Rift Valley. It’s getting bigger every day, and in a few million years when Baikal is an ocean, Tanganyika might be the largest lake by default. Its 4,820 ft depth earns it a 3/10.

Lake Superior, US/Canada (suggested by multiple people)

This is the largest of the Great Lakes, and the third-largest lake in the world. It reaches depths of over 1,000 feet and has a surface area of over 31,700 square miles. Lake Superior is the site of over 350 shipwrecks and contains roughly 10,000 dead bodies. The reason these bodies are never recovered is because the lake is very cold, and very deep. The lake bottom is essentially a sterile environment, where bodies are preserved for eternity instead of floating up as a normal body would. This lake holds onto her dead. 4/10 for sheer danger and alarming amount of dead bodies.

Cenote Angelita, Mexico ( @olive-k wanted a cenote, and this list has two!)

This is a cenote with an underwater river running through it. No, I’m not kidding. Underwater rivers are actually quite common, but they rarely exist in places that humans can see them. Usually they’re caused by a current moving in a different direction than the majority of the water, or a boundary between water with different density (as is the case here). The “river” appearance in Angelita is enhanced by dead trees, giving the appearance of a bank. For the first 100 feet, this cave has regular freshwater. But a little deeper lies a layer of hazy hydrogen sulfate, and beneath that is 100 feet of salt water. This ranks 5/10 because can you imagine descending towards a hazy patch of water and branches that you assume is the bottom, only to pass right through it and see a gaping black expanse beneath? No thanks.

Devil’s Hole, Nevada

As a biologist, this is somewhere that I actually want to visit. This tiny waterhole in the desert is the only place that the endangered Devil’s Hole Pupfish lives. But we’re not here to learn about cute fish, we’re here to read about unsettling waterways. And hooo boy, this one is pretty weird. Because despite its appearance, this isn’t a little rainwater pool. It’s the opening to a huge cave system, which reaches depths of at least 500 feet. We’re not totally sure, though, because the bottom has never been mapped, and several people have died trying to attempt it. 6/10, since it’s very deep, hasn’t been fully mapped, and is apparently haunted.

Eagle’s Nest Sinkhole, Florida

There is literally a sign in front of this sinkhole that reads “STOP. Prevent your death. There is nothing in this cave worth dying for” accompanied by a picture of the Grim Reaper. Need I say more? Probably not, but I will anyway. This sinkhole is the only surface opening to a cave system that stretches several miles and plunges to over 300 feet deep. Miles of twisting, confusing, narrow passages with only one exit make for an extremely dangerous cave system. For some fucking reason, it’s a very popular dive site. At least 11 people have died here since the 80’s, and is referred to as the “Underwater Mt Everest” because of how dangerous it is. 7/10.

Zacatón, Mexico

This cenote was literally considered “bottomless” for a long time, because no one could find the bottom. Multiple expeditions were attempted, including one where a man died after reaching 925 feet without finding the end. It took a multi-million dollar operation funded by NASA to find the bottom of this hole. I’m not kidding. Turns out, it’s 1,099 feet deep, making it the deepest cenote in the world. It disturbs me that it took NASA and a robot designed to map alien moons to locate where this hole ended, so it earns an 8/10.

Saltstraunen, Norway (suggested by anon)

This narrow strait is home to the strongest tidal currents on the planet. Roughly 110 billion gallons of seawater move in and out of this corridor every six hours, creating violent currents. These tidal movements are so strong they create a phenomenon very similar to the whirlpool in Scotland—the Saltstaunen Maelstrom. This vortex is 33 feet across and forms four times a day as the tides go in and out. Although this whirlpool is only 16 feet deep (very shallow compared to Scotland’s) the currents alone would probably destroy you if you ever fell into this strait. 9/10 because damn.

Blue Lake, Russia

Despite having the least creative name of all time, the Blue Lake is anything but boring. Like the Zacatón, this lake had a reputation for being bottomless for a long time. A diver died after descending to 394 feet, and another barely survived after going down to 685 feet. Neither found the bottom. Eventually, the bottom was discovered and it came as a surprise. The lake itself is only 770 ft by 426 ft, but it is 846 ft deep. This lake is deeper than it is long. It is also a constant 48 degrees F, making hypothermia a risk for any swimmers. If that’s not bad enough, it’s also full of hydrogen sulfide, which makes the air around the lake potentially dangerous. However, people do still dive here on occasion (mostly for research purposes) and the lake is surprisingly beautiful beneath the surface. Still, that doesn’t make it any less deep, cold, and poisonous, so this is a 10/10 for me.

Honorable mention: The Mariana’s Trench, because although it’s not really a specific body of water it’s the deepest point in the ocean, at 7 miles below the surface!

FALLING IN LOVE:

he'd be so confused at first

Like, what is this? What are you doing to him and why are you doing it? Why does he like it?

Especially because he doesn't even know you (yet), you just came in one day with the traveler and he thought you were incredibely pretty and he wanted to get to know you (he was sure you HAD to be nice, the traveller wouldn't be friends with you otherwise)

But when the traveller later tells him you're a friend and that they want him to meet you, he's VERY hesitant

He knows he looks intimidating and so he'd be a little scared to come close to you, not wanting to scare you off and have you never come to Wangshu Inn again no, he doesn't like you already, what are you talking about

When he does approach you, it's with the help of the traveller

He doesn't talk much, but he tries his best not to look as if he's about to kill someone

After this meeting he decides he was right in his first feeling. You were incredibely friendly and didn't pressure him into talking, something that he'd appreciate a lot

At the end of the meetup, he tells you the same thing he does to everyone he cares about, to call him when you're in trouble (secretly hoping you'll never have to make use of it)

After this, you come to Wangshu Inn more often, intrigued by the man you met

You have times where you meet up, whenever he's not busy fighting the remains of ancient evil

It took him some time to tell you what it really was that he's doing, it was after a really bad episode of his karmic debt almost consuming him

He thought you would be disgusted by what he's doing, especially when he told you that multiple mortals have died while witnessing him fighting demons (he wanted to be as open with you as possible). He was wrong.

After getting to know of his love for the food, you made sure to either prepare or buy some almond tofu for him, without a special occasion

And that was when he knew he would never want to lose you, even though a little voice in the back of his head knew that one day, he would

CONFESSION:

He'd be divided between confessing as fast as possible and not at all

On the one hand, he wanted to have as much time with you as possible, so he'd rather confess sooner than later

On the other hand, he doubted you would like him back and he didn't want to lose you already and never talk to you

He decided on the first option after pondering for a little while, deciding he'd want the time with you that way than as just firends

He has a plan made up for if you reject him, he wants to stay friends with you for as long as possible

He planned it a little, he told Verr Goldet that he would need the rooftop to himself

She promised to make sure that he was undisturbed

He had a table in the corner with two plates of almond tofu ready for you

Afterwards, he wanted to watch the surrounding plains and the stars with you

During that, he wanted to ask you out on a date, not realizing that this evening already was

Anyways, as you're standing there, silently looking out into the night like you so often do, he turns to look at you

After some time, he clears his throat, making you look at him

He'll stumble over his words a bit, but in the end he brings out what he wanted to say from the start

"I really like you and it's not just platonic anymore. I hope this doesn't make anything weird"

pls he gets so scared when you just stare at him and not say anything

His mind is going 'I ruined it, of course I did, why did I do this, I' m so stupid' over and over at full speed

And it's becoming visible on the outside how much he's freaking out, at least to people who can read him

You can and so you take his hands (and his mind just stops entirely for a few moments)

You make him look at you and hold eye contact as you explain that you feel the same way and you were just shocked so you didn't answer

He's so happy, he has a little smile on his face that is equal to more expressive people happy dancing

He asks if he can hug you and promises to do his best as your boyfriend

WHAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP IS LIKE:

gets you Crystalflies for your hair whenever he feels like it

He's always watching over you somehow, from somewhere, a part of his mind is always on you

sometimes he hesitates when he thinks you might be in danger because he knows you'd call him if you have a serious problem, but in the end, if he's not busy he still teleports close so he is instantly by your side

in the beginning, he didn't have ayn excuses for suddenly appearing, but later on, you know why he's there (he's just really concerned about your wellbeing, he doesn't want to loose you)

you are the last thing he thinks of before getting rid of the spirit of some old God and you're the first thing on his mind once he's done

tries to be cold, especially in the beginning, but is actually really soft for you

Won't initiate physical contact himself in the beginning and also in public, but if you want to hold hands... he's there, don't take anyone else's

hes always turned towards you, always listening, also to your body language

once youre alone though, he can't stop touching you (if youre fine with it, if youre not, he won't do anything and would probably beat himself up if he ever did accidentally

PHYSICAL AFFECTION:

ALWAYS asks whether he can hug/kiss you

even after you've been dating for a while, he's still scared that you'll break if he holds you too tight

doesn't want anything to happen to you, so once you've assured him that you won't die if he touches you, he won't let you go

Hugs you at night even if he doesn't sleep himself

Is always touching you in some way, a hand on your elbow or back when you're on the balcony or anywhere else private

If he's ever going to Liyue Harbour or Qingce Village with you he's a bit more shy with physical affection, thinking it's something to be kept behind closed doors

The most he'll do is walk close to you. He thinks it should be enough to show people you're off limits. If he sees someone looking at you weirdly, he might take your hand, but that's as far as he goes in public

With time, he might feel more comfortable and might link your arms, but he's still not that fond of showing affection in public

He'd rather stare down anyone looking at you weirdly. They usually know to back away after that

He's actually really protective but doesn't want to force you to do something you're uncomfortable with (and he's kinda awkward as well)

ARGUMENTS: 

Arguments with him happen very rarely

If they do, they're especially in the beginning of you relationship as he's constantly scared of hurting you

You'll tell him he won't but he still refuses to touch you

You're trying to convince him that you won't die if he just barely touches you and still, he's scared and very hesitant

It makes you doubt whether he actually likes you sometimes, but he shows you that he does in other ways

The biggest argument you ever had was when you wanted to see him fight a demon and he told you no without telling you a reason

You tried to sneak after him and he got so angry. You also got angry because he wouldn't tell you why he wouldn't let you come. You were a pretty experienced adventurer, you thought you would be able to hold your own

But it wasn't only thing he was worried about

When the whole argument ended and he still hadn't told you a reason why you couldn't be with him, you started ignoring him

Both of you weren't thinking rationally, you because you thought he didn't trust you and Xiao because he didn't want you to die, knowing it has happened before if there was a mortal nearby as he vanquished an old spirit

You ended up talking it out and he told you what happened to people before if they were close by. He also told you that he didn't want to tell you because he was scared you would leave him if you knew

Please reassure him that you won't and promise him not to follow him on things like that

The two of you agreed to talk things out whenever something is bothering you and you, as well as Xiao, try to keep to that

After this big argument, there's only small disagreements, for example about Xiao not eating or not sleeping enough even though he doesn't need to
