NPMD AU idea

Max is seriously, but not fatally injured in the Wayland place. He's left comatose for two weeks and awakens having forgotten the "party" and any good feelings he may have developed towards the nerds. During the time that he's away, the story continues much like in canon, with the nerds finally accepted by and befriending the cool kids in school. Which makes it sting so much worse when Max returns and the cool kids reluctantly turn on their new nerd friends again. Now they're not just being tormented by bullies, but by friends. Friends who claim to care, just not enough to stand up to Max. The only cool kid willing to stand up to Max is Steph, but she's a fringe cool kid at best and she quickly finds herself ostracized by her old friends and fully integrates into the nerd herd. But the central characters would actually be Richie and Jason, who became pretty good friends while Max was away. Turns out Jason likes anime too, and Richie is surprisingly good on a skateboard. When Max returns and Jason goes right back to it, Richie is hit hard. Jason is torn between loyalty to his new friend and his fear of social repercussions if he stands up to Max, and Richie is left with a two-faced friend who is friendly and apologetic when they're alone but immediately an aggressor the moment anyone is around who might get word to Max. Jason wants Richie to understand the position he's in. And Richie does, but it starts to hurt too much for him to care. Jason's apologies are pretty meaningless if he's just gonna do the same thing tomorrow. The story would follow Richie and the nerds as they try to survive the school's fucked up dynamic, and Jason, finding the courage and means to try and fix his friendship with Richie and deal with Max. And would maybe delve a bit into why Max is how he is. Max redemption arc? Mayhaps. Jason/Richie endgame? Probably. I'm calling this the "Right back to it" AU. I make no promises that it will ever be written.

hey do you guys want some references. Because brother I have some fucking references for you.

Lemme tell you about a horse. And Sherlock Holmes. As you know, I'm a big fan of the 1984 Granada Sherlock Holmes series and I've watched it through a couple of times now. But I'm also a horse person, and so naturally, I took note of the horses used for filming. They obviously had a limited pool of horses to use so many of them appear and reappear throughout the series. But one horse caught my eye. She was a beautiful chunky little chestnut mare (I think) and she was EVERYWHERE. Right through from season one until The Master Blackmailer, which I believe was her final appearance, there are very few episodes where her face doesn't appear. And when I say she was everywhere I really do mean it. She appeared so often and in so many places that it became a joke between @lyracalmuse and I that she was the mastermind behind every crime Holmes investigated, because there was no reason for her to be present at so many otherwise. So she gained the nickname, Mareiarty, the Marengo of Crime. For some reason I couldn't get her out of my head. I wanted to make her so badly. So now I am. Here's the picture I'm using for the reference for her pose. I picked it because I like the bunched up energy and want to try and capture it. My reference document for her is over 70 pages long, all screencaps from the show where she appears. She's kind of taken over my brain, I can only assume with malicious intent.
