A/N: Hey it's no problem at all~ The pleasure is mine so thank you for sending in your request! I haven’t written for Ruggie in a while so hopefully I’m not too rusty. This was a super cute request. I loved writing it. Again, thank you so much. I hope you have a wonderful day as well (´｡• ᵕ •｡`) ♡

Ruggie rarely attended formal school events. He often spent those nights working shifts at a nearby diner or doing the chores Leona had paid him to do. Moreover, school dances required admission tickets

Those tickets were expensive. He also had to wear formal attire. He didn’t have much so he’d have to make a trip to the mall, emptying more money out of his pocket. Naturally, he avoided attending events as much as he could

But he couldn’t pass up a chance to dance with you. End of the year dances were big for NRC. They were on the same scale of extravagance as the Halloween festivities. But rather than costumes, his peers donned tuxes and ball gowns

He’d scrape up some cash just in time for the dance. Leona helped him a bit with his outfit seeing as the prince knew a thing or two about the event. He lent Ruggie some shoes and whatnot

Upon entering the facility, his eyes sparkle as he takes in everything the ballroom had to offer– a refreshments table filled with gourmet foodstuff, large floral arrangements and a grandiose chandelier

The lighting fixture casted rainbow flecks onto his stormy grey eyes. They lit up in awe. Ruggie is a bit overwhelmed as to where to even begin

This event is huge. There’ so many people. They’re all so fancy with their bejeweled clothing and expensive looking accessories

Though, he shouldn’t be stealing on this fine evening. It would be a waste if he was escorted out of an event he worked his butt off to pay for

Should he eat something and make the most of the hors d'oeuvres then? It's not like he gets to eat like this everyday. He should have brought a plastic bag so that he could save them for later

But should he really waste the night eating? He wanted to spend the night with you as well. You’ve been looking at the dance floor a lot. He bites his cheek in though

You glance at him. He sets down his bruschetta and offers you his hand

“Hey. Wanna dance?”

Ruggie isn’t familiar with formal dancing. but he tries his best to match the pacing of other couples on the dance floor. He may not be acquainted with the classical waltz, but he’s a fast learner Quick on his feet and sharp with his eyes and ears. It doesn’t take long for him to master the waltz

He’s light on his feet and he moves effortlessly with the rhythm. Sure, it might not be 100% like a waltz, but it’s sill very intimate as he put his own personal touch to it

While he might have to work off the ticket prices, it was darn worth it to see you have a good time. Your laughter melted his heart as he spun you around on the dance floor

Summary: On his way to do his errand, Ruggie found you observing something...

“What’re you doing?” Ruggie asked, stopping on his tracks. He slowly walked to your crouching figure underneath the shade of a tree, peeking over to see what you’re up to. It seemed as if you’re staring intently at the small wild flowers that grew around its roots.

“A bumblebee.” You answered, your eyes following its movement.

“A bumblebee?”

“Look, another one.” You pointed to the small insect buzzing around on the corner left, tending to the flowers it landed upon. You heard footsteps on the grass and felt Ruggie crouched next to you as both of you silently watched it hopped onto another flower.

And another. Then another, but a different type of flower.

“Pfft!” You finally let out a laugh, covering your mouth with your hand so as to not disturb the bumblebee. Ruggie tilted his head to you in question, his ears unconsciously twitching in delight from the sound of your laughter. He wondered what goes in your mind this time around, resting his cheeks on his hands as he waited for an answer.

“It reminds me of you!” You chuckled, a smile made its way to your lips.

“Huh?!” He exclaimed, caught off guard by your statement. He quickly glared at the poor insect, trying to find any similarities with him. Was it his hair colour? Or did you think its fluffiness looked similar to his ears and tails? The more he squinted at the bee, the harder it is to hold back your laughter.

“It’s cute and hardworking,” You turned to him with a grin, reaching your hand to pet his messy hair neatly. A blush dusted your cheeks from your exhilaration, “just like you!”

His eyes widened for a second before he pouted at you. Cute was definitely not something he’d like to hear when someone describes him and he should’ve been more upset at you. Nevertheless, he didn’t move away from your hands and continued to let you rub his ears.

“Says the one who’s cute right now…” He mumbled softly in defeat.

“What’s that?”

“Nothing.”
