Having a comfort fic but also has the most gut wrenching angst to it as well is perfection

me trying not to smile from the fanfic i just read

Did those memories, those times he told he loved you mean nothing to him. The times you we’re there for him, he cared for you just the way you did. You were there for him during Jason’s death and when Jason was found alive. You helped them through his grief and loss. Told you he’ll never replaced you no one else would compete with you.

He lied..he’s so much happier with her, the way his smile reaches his eyes as he swings her around in the middle of the dance floor, their laughter echoing through the banquet hall that hosted Jason’s wedding. The way he looks at her is just like a man falling in love with a woman in movies, the ones you’ll see whenever you’re having a movie marathon in your living room eating ice cream. Wishing someone could have looked at you like that. Held you like that. Swing you around not caring for that others think.

You don’t know how the world works how everyone you’ve ever met have simply moved on with their lives no longer wanting you. You should be happy for him. But god does it hurt. If you knew he would have not chosen you in the end. You would’ve never had patched him up that time he passed out in your living room with his Nightwing costume on. Offered to take you on a date with his mask on obviously to keep things slow and steady. How he kept bringing you gifts every time you patched him up insisting it’s the least he could do after another fight with the scarecrow or with some gang members.

Time slows down when the song that you and Dick danced too every night echos through the hall. Every couple or families dance together in the dance floor. All happy and laughing. The way they dance in sync, his hands on her waist the tiny whispers he sends her making her giggle. You finally rip your eyes from them and turn to look at your lousy and pathetic date talking to another woman. You roll your eyes and finally get up from your seat placing down your full glass of champagne down and take one last look at him. Only to find him looking straight at you.

Everyone’s chatter and laughter is tuned out as you both locked eyes completely shutting out everyone. It didn’t last long as Dick was being dragged away to watch as the Bride and Groom start cutting the cake. You sighed and grabbed your bag and made your way through the exit. Not wanting to look back. But unbeknownst to you Dick’s eyes were still on you… not leaving your back for a second.
