Coincidence, I’d call it.

If you hadn’t wanted a pizza that evening, or, if instead of accompanying your cousin to retrieve it directly at the pizzeria, you had stayed at home, you would never have met that look. Funny to note that a seemingly insignificant change would have been enough to change the course of events from that evening until now. You thought you were going home with just the thought of eating and enjoying a family evening before you left the country to go home.

Dark almond-shaped eyes had taken the place of your most common thoughts from the moment your eyes stared at them for what felt like an hour. Since that evening, one of the most significant moments of your vacation was that exchange of glances. Nothing had happened, nothing at all, yet that look managed to go through your eyes somehow, reaching your mind. The human mind, what a strange thing. We can stare at a painting or a photo for hours and remember only the most important details, then it took just a face, a pair of eyes, that immediately every single detail is dug in the maze of thoughts, as if engraved on the stone.
