a quick & dirty guide to destroying that youtube anti-adblock filter thing

note: this guide is made with Firefox in mind, you should probably be using Firefox anyways since Chromium is a monopoly hellhole but we don't promise it'll work if you use Chrome, Vivaldi, Edge, or The Rest Of The Chromium Browsers

we're putting the important instructions in BIG UNDERLINED TEXT and a mini-explanation in normal text. if all you care about is the "how to do" and not the "why you do" look at those, if you're having issues just look at the mini-text

One: GET UBLOCK ORIGIN (if you do not have it)

if you have any other adblocks or any extensions that affect YouTube, disable them. in the latter case there's some instances where they come with an adblock (such as YouTube Enhancer) that you can disable manually while keeping the extension on otherwise, but others will just proc YouTube's anti-adblock no matter what. also please never run multiple adblocks at the same time, at best it wastes RAM at worst it'll in-fight and in this case, proc the anti-adblock even if uBlock Origin wouldn't have!

Two: OPEN THE UBLOCK ORIGIN DASHBOARD (three gears button!)

this is fairly self-explanatory.

Three: if you have previously been a user of uBlock Origin, CHECK "MY FILTERS" TO DELETE PREVIOUS YOUTUBE FILTERS!

early on into the anti-adblock stuff some people were sharing lists of things to manually put into the filters. nowadays these just cause in-fighting and will likely activate youtube's adblock. either delete these or comment them out (put a "! " before them, excluding quotes obvs) to disable them, as well as anything else that manually impacts youtube

Four: MANUALLY UPDATE YOUR FILTERS OFTEN!

uBlock Origin has been hard at work manually updating their in-house filters, the most recent of which are the best ones for avoiding the anti-adblock. of course, youtube has been trying to pull a wild goose chase and will update the anti-adblock accordingly, so keep making sure to update the filters.

Five: if you get the anti-adblock pop-up again, DO STEP FOUR, THEN CLOSE AND RE-OPEN YOUR BROWSER!

self-explanatory--if you got the pop-up still, odds are either you have an errant extension that's proccing it or your filters are simply out of date. always make sure it's not the latter first and foremost, it's extremely easy and also it helps combat memory leaks.

NOW GO FORTH AND BLOCK YOUTUBE'S DUMB ADS

Maybe I should not pull for any gacha from now on until furina's return (I think she will return very soon like the other archons with the release of her story quest act 2 (although she is not an archon actually))

These mascots as main characters' companions share many things in common lol 😅 (I used another app to draw this so the colouring method seem different from my previous works)
