I think alot about these little instances where Spencer literally admits he does his very best to fit onto what is socially acceptable (and fails spectacularly) like in Alchemy when Rossi confronts him and he starts off with "I know that the socially acceptable time for grieving is almost over with but-" or on an earlier episode (I think season 3) where he tries to make his vocabulary more vague to fit onto the conversation- or two instances In season 11, with Antonia telling him he supress his grief around other because he notices they aren't as hang on on it as he does- or in the finale when he tells Archer that he gets "confused alot" and thus decided to study human behavior. Or ofc, in that scene on Saturday, you know which one.

And I think alot about it because, even tho all of them are profilers, Spencer is the one that always mentions how he is versed on Human's behavior (Revelations, that episode in season 5 with the kid that was covering his dad) because he fucking needs it. He lacks the capacity to "fit in" and WANTS to fit in, he goes out of his way to study others- ask them what they feel the way they do (Big Game, that little scene where he asks Gideon why does he looks sad) because he legit wants to understand, and remember when Emily told him she loved the way he was and his response was "I don't know to be someone else" that tells me he has fucking tried (it's even more direct when he literally says "I can't" to another statement in season 10, you know which one) that speaks to me of an someone that grew up feeling insolated from everyone else and tried to change to fit in....

And found out he couldn't.
