Summary:

Here ye! Here ye! It’s now time for ball season here on Sage’s Island! Students have been gossiping all year about the Glimmering Soirée, a night of revelry between the two schools that both inhabit Sage Island. Each year, one school hosts the other! Treating the guests as royalty. There’s dancing, music, delicious food and...a competition. This competition is to find the Belle of the Ball and to award them with honors such as a crown, scepter, and more! The faculty of both schools vote on the winner of the title. This year, it’s NRC’s turn at hosting, let’s see how well they do

Four Students are chosen as the Princes who are to act as the hosts of the event. They are to be princely, amicable, and welcoming to the guests of the ball. It’s chosen by chance by the Headmaster. The Princes are trained in the art of dance, conversation, and hosting. The Princes chosen this year are Malleus Draconia, Deuce Spade, Azul Ashengrotto, and Kalim Al-Asim. The Princes also partipate in the voting of the Belle of the Ball as well

But where do yuu fit into this? Our lovely Ramshackle prefect and their trusty feline-looking sidekick have a special position, given to them by our kind Headmaster! Yuu are here to help the princes out! And who knows, maybe your hard work won’t go unnoticed.

Everyone is free to participate! From Ocs to Yuusonas to even canon characters, anyone can participate!

How to participate in the event: You’re free to write fics, make art, make character sprites, and just about anything else you can put your mind to!

This event has no deadline at the moment which means you have all the time you need to get to work! However, this might change later on!

🤩 What led to your interest in the fandom?

Honestly??? I saw this one random MV made of the octatrio and didnt even know it was them for like, a year until I finally played twst. I kept seeing different vtubers i liked playing it, and i kept getting things in my youtube reccs of like- out of context impressions of the characters. I had a vacation coming up around the time so i downloaded it to play during a long family drive!

I think I knew I was hyperfixated around book three- that and when I cried right after book 1 KJGNSKJDSNGSDKJ

I am just a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE sucker for well developed, detailed characters, and seeing their struggles and efforts to overcome them really inspired and captured me!

Ezra had read many stories about the nocturnal fae throughout his life. On and off and on again, his interest in his own history died in and out throughout the years.

He would read a chapter, attempt to take notes, see if he could find any sort of relation to himself besides the usual: pointy teeth, ears, and varying elongated lifespans.

He would take those notes, start skipping sentences, try to reread them only for it not to click.

Then he would give up for years on end. Even decades.

No no, he held no attachment to them, not one single bit. If anything, he was more put off. Conflicted.

A large majority of information regarding nocturnal fae came directly from nocturnal fae themselves. Usually he would LIVE for the flare of dramatic romanticism in the retelling of tales of old, but these... they just... held so much hatred. So much hatred for humans.

The historical documents were from two hundred years before his birth, regarding the wars between the fae of Briar Valley and neighboring human kingdoms.

OBVIOUSLY, the humans were in the wrong. It didn't take much brainpower to recognize the greed, but-

As he sat in a cozy cottage, beams of morning sunlight pouring in through an open window. The breeze ruffled his curly hair from his spot on the window sill, and when he heard the laughter of his nieces children echoing from where they played outside in the grass, he snapped the book shut.

-But the way the fae referred to humans in these texts made his stomach churn. It was like they were seen as beneath them. Like pests. Mice that scurried around beneath ironclad boots.

Ezra had been raised by humans since the moment he was born.

His family had always treated him with kindness.

Even as he watched as his adoptive parents and adoptive siblings gradually grow old and pass away, not once did he see any greedy, vicious tendencies foretold in those books. They were just... people.

He once found a tale of a fae from the same subspecies as him, a changeling:

To summarize, a family took a changeling child in. They figured out that the child was a fae by catching them attempting to shape-shift, and they drove them out of the village. The village claimed they were a vile creature, far too dangerous to keep alive.

Ezra rolled his eyes and eccentrically threw the history book to the side.

How dull... what a waste of perfectly good linen, using it for paper like that. He didn't quite understand why his species villainized humans so, without questioning the reasons WHY changelings were almost ALWAYS taken in by humans. Raise your own children if the humans are so untrustworthy, goodness.

The children outside called his name excitedly, waving at him from where they ran. One tripped and fell straight on their face- only to pop up a second later and continue eagerly waving at him while covered in grass stains and dirt.

Ezra couldn't help but giggle. He returned the wave with a cheerful smile.

Ahhh yes, what "greedy" young sprouts those were... Well, he supposed a quick game of tag with their great uncle Goldspire couldn't hurt.

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

Honestly- I feel like my favorite lines I write are the ones that make me giggle to myself like a dork- banter and teasing and the like.

Given a lot of things are in their early stages- including Yuu herself since she's still adjusting and going thru it™️, there are ig- like- a lot of conflicting statements from her directly, regarding herself and the world around her as a sort of untrustworthy narrator- it makes it difficult for me to pick lines that are mmmore.... important? I guess? JFNDJD idkitshardformetodescribe. Also I'm just partial to dialogue.

I sort of tried to set the stage for her and Ace's bond/relationship dynamics last chapter I posted, and honestly every time I think about '“pRickLY. I’m jUSt teASIng. Pick up the books, carrot top,” Yuu mocked in retaliation, lowering the pitch of his voice to sound almost alarmingly similar to the ginger.' I cant help but laugh-
