foundational ship (to me). it helps that i absolutely adore them both.

golden retriever nico who loves his home country and his adopted country and his team so so much and never fails to let them know it, always there for hugs and headpats, unwitting sparker of thirst traps everywhere + plus spoiled cat jack who despite being the middle child is (in my head) very much the baby of the family, lightning fast on the ice, somehow manages to be incredibly snarky and sweet at the same time, loves attention (but only from his favourite people).

you've got the magical c+a bond/franchise saviour destiny, coupled with their mutual love of family and inability to be anything less than 100% themselves at all times, not to mention the trauma bonding from being 1OAs. i love how very obviously safe and comfortable they feel around each other, especially when it gives us gems like this moment. or this one. i could go on. no, really.

tldr - my best beloveds who deserve the world <3 makes sense and compels me on every level.

this one doesn't make as much sense to me as mattdrai, but i do see the appeal. chronically shy and incredibly serious golden child with the weight of destiny on his shoulders meets flirtatious troublemaker whose idea of affection is to annoy the life out of his crush but really just wants to be loved.

is it a good idea? probably not. but matthew might make connor feel just a bit lighter, and connor gets to forget everything resting on him and just be himself around matthew, which is the best he's ever felt in years. add to that their weird thing for being pushed around, and you can't lie they would be interesting.
