ZOMBIE!GHOST HEADCANNONS ft. GhostSoap

Disclaimer- most of these are not original ideas but a compilation of things I've seen with my own ideas thrown in

So we've all see the theory that he broke his own jaw when he got infected so he wouldn't be able to infect people, right?

which omg is that both painful and hard to do. in addition, in the trailer, it seems like he maintains some of his humanity even after he's infected

WHICH IS DEVASTATING

because basically, I've done too much reading, and I've seen many scenarios

1. is that his group gets infected alongside with him and he remains the sole survivor

eventually, the grief of being alone, and how insanely draining it would be to exist as a rotting corpse, he would essentially shut down/ kill his own mind since he can't actually die.

this is the saddest in my opinion, because I believe he would have insane survivors guilt, and would be absolutely crushed (since in his actual back story his family was murdered, and so this would be the 2nd he's been unable to protect those he cares about)

2. is that he is already long time a zombie, but forms an attachment to some survivor passing through

like someone is passing through the town that he's in, and he immediately forms an attachment to them, but he is conscious enough to realize he would be seen as a threat and even backs up if approached

however, he has a desire to protect that person, so he mostly remains out of sight, watching the area. said person will essentially be protected by him, like he'll literally kill off other zombies to keep them safe

I have such mixed emotions about this, because I feel like he would be so lonely. absolutely infatuated with and determined to protect this person, but he would never allow himself to go near them

3. has to do with John 'Soap' Mactavish

I feel like they'd be with their team when Simon gets bit. the others would try to drag

Soap away or shoot Simon, but Soap isn't having any of that. even Simon would try to get him to leave, but Soap, loyal as ever, would refuse.

Simon would definitely break his jaw in this scenario, but do it while soap goes on a supply run, or is sleeping so he doesn't have to witness it

Simon would eventually give up on begging him to leave, Soap was ready to die with him. once they both realize that Simon is still somewhat conscious, Soap is adamant about taking care of Simon even as he decays, trying to keep him bandaged and cleaned as much as possible

Simon would become like a guard dog for Soap, protecting him from both zombies and other survivors. Simon is especially fast and strong since he still has some control over himself. I think Soap would have to keep a leash on Simon, because Simon's brain, while still holding some function, has zombie instincts, and he easily gets distracted. Also, I think Soap would be able to decipher what Simon's different grunts and groans mean (Simon unable to talk due to broken jaw and rotting) to where they can basically have full conversations

In the end, I think Soap would die of old age (Ghost having protected him his whole life), and we would circle back to Ghost being the sole survivor

OR

Ghost would eventually get to a point where his body has rotted so much that life isn't feasible for him. he can no longer function or protect Soap, and he is able to communicate that with Soap, who in the end shoots him. Soap would be put into absolute agony over this. Soap, being a demolition specialist in the military, makes me personally believe he'd absolutely wreck havoc.

I think he'd probably destroy a city with some makeshift explosives because while Ghost might've been technically dead for a long time, they were still soulmates, and this time, he was gone for good

I think he'd become reckless with his own life, a mix of anger and sadness. There'd be days where he'd be so depressed he wouldn't get up, and others where he'd do the stupidest shit just to not think about the fact he is now completely alone in the apocalypse

I don't think he'd get infected; I think he'd probably pick a fight with some survivor group, or one of his reckless expeditions would be the end of him. I don't even think he'd make it a half year without Simon.

I feel like this would contrast to if he'd stayed with his group after Simon was infected or if Simon had been KIA on a mission (not apocalypse au). I think if he had his team, he would've moved on and lived a good life, although grieving and completely dedicating Simon's death day as a day of remembrance. However, with Simon having been his only companion for so long and the man he threw away everything for, he might as well have died when Simon did

gah- I love this

everybody say thank you to jackie for the brain worms 🙏🏼

in other words, anti-valentines day, ghoap edition.

Simon thinks valentine’s day is cute. He’s liked it since he was a kid. He often shared candies and handmade cards with classmates when he was young, and with close friends as he got older. As an adult he sort of just watched couples and soaked in their happiness like a sponge. He enjoyed helping his brother plan out his dates with his wife, and enjoyed giving his sister in law nuggets of advice when she asked. It was cute, how absorbed they got in each other.

Johnny… does not like valentine’s day. It’s disappointing, hearing a few days before that Johnny is dreading the day. He hates seeing people all over each other, thinks is a scheme for companies to make a quick buck. And… yeah… Simon’s argument that it’s cute gets dismissed with a bark of laughter and a shake of Johnny’s head.

So, Simon sends roses to his mother’s grave, as he usually does, and sends the bundle of Johnny’s favorites to Beth’s because… He doesn’t want to trample on such a clear boundary. And, yeah, he still picks up the sweets he ordered, but he has a sweet tooth and a mini fridge so the strawberries will probably get devoured in an ambien induced sleepwalking journey. (perhaps he’ll eat them and curse johnny out as he does, instead. Or maybe they’ll rot away.)

He drops by price’s office. “Are you ‘nd Garrick doin’ anythin’ for V-Day?“

“Probably not…” Price mumbles, looking at him suspiciously. Simon sends him an email. Price looks up at the sound of his computer pinging. “Simon this is an incredibly expensive gift…” He looks at him with worry, “Are you and Soap okay?”

Simon shrugs. “It wasn’t for us,” He lies, “We’re doin’ somethin’ else. I know you would’ve rotted in your office unless somebody forced you out. Perchance.”

“You can’t just say perchance.” Price sighs softly. “Thank you, Simon.”

Simon grunts and leaves.

Valentine’s day comes, and Johnny is rolling his eyes at every subtle exchange of affection between soldiers. Simon will admit he’s gentler on the recruits, easier on the ones that look a little forlorn. He hands out hershey kisses to anybody who looks particularly sulky. They all look at him with confusion and shock and he just says, “Nobody will believe you,” even though there’s already an ongoing rumor that The Ghost has a sweet tooth.

Simon devours the strawberries in under five minutes the second he gets back to his bunk. They’re really good, dark chocolate and white chocolate with milk chocolate shavings on them. He has a few regular chocolates with different berry fillings he bought for himself— (out of spite, but he won’t admit it.) He likes the raspberry one and the orange dark chocolate ones the most. They’re absolutely delicious and Simon separates them out for last.

Johnny comes into the bunk as Simon is sorting the chocolates. Simon ignores him, expecting Johnny to flip into the bed and complain about companies sucking the money out of innocent people in love. He doesn’t, though. Johnny comes and leans against the desk near Simon, arms crossed over his chest and a contemplating look on his face. “Those look good.”

“They are,” Simon says, “They have fruit syrup fillings. I’m not sure what filling this one has.” He points to a circle shaped chocolate with a heart stamped in it. It’s the only one he hasn’t tried yet. “This one’s blueberry, this one’s blackberry, these are raspberry and these are regular orange dark chocolate cubes. I like them the most.” He gestures to the pile of cubes with hearts stamped on them and the heart shaped raspberry filled dark chocolates.

“You… just bought them?”

“Yep,” Simon lies. He’d thought at first that they’d be cute to try with Johnny, but he was… fine to eat them alone. It was fine.

The silence continues as Simon divides them evenly. He thinks he could make them last for a week or so. Johnny leans down and sighs a little, plucking two heart shaped containers out of the bin. “You just went out and bought chocolates when the prices are jacked up for no reason? Just because you wanted them?” Johnny flips open one container. Simon feels guilty at the strawberry shape accompanied by the soft pink stains at the bottom. “Simon, you hate strawberries.”

“They had a dark chocolate variety. I thought it would be nice to… expand my pallet.” Simon separates the chocolates into ziplocks and labels them just in case he forgets which is which. Johnny picks up one of the circle ones he has yet to try and takes a bite.

“This one has dark chocolate filing inside. I think it’s just milk chocolate on the outside.” Johnny eats the other half. “Simon.”

“Yes?”

“Strawberries are my favorite fruit. And I love chocolate covered strawberries. From this shop.” Soap holds the box up to show the name. Simon looks back to his sorting. “And Gaz said he and Price were going out to a nice place to eat. And that you had gifted them to Price.” Johnny’s voice softens, “Were you going to take me out?”

Simon lines up the baggies of chocolate on his desk. “No,” He lies. At Johnny’s head tilt and eyebrow raise he caves. “Maybe. I thought It’d be cute. But you don’t like valentine’s.” Simon hates the way his eyes burn, “I just— I dunno. It’s stupid.”

“Simon,” Johnny whispers, standing and cradling Simon’s head to his stomach, “It’s not stupid. I’m sorry.”

“I always wanted— I didn’t— my parents didn’t love each other. But I saw so many people that did and I wanted that. I wanted the cute dates and the movie romance, and it’s stupid—“

Johnny strokes his hair. “Ahm sorry, love,” He whispers, “I didn’t know. You shoulda said somethin’.” Johnny pulls back and cups Simon’s face and tilts his head up for them to look at each other in the eyes. “Ah woulda loved to spend valenties day with you. Do all those cheesy things.”

Simon and Johnny watch a movie. Johnny makes Simon paper flowers that will never wilt. They share the rest of the chocolates until Johnny taps out due to worrying about a stomach ache.

Johnny never misses a valentine’s day after that, and Simon never has to plan a date.

tagging jackie because this was their idea :p ty for the brain worms mootie! @thejacketscloset

Photographer!Ghost

just a silly idea I had

cw (brief mention of mcd, kinda mw3 canon, so ya know)

Ghost was not so much the artist, but was always content to be his lover's muse. Ghost loved seeing what Soap's mind could conjure. Ghost also quite enjoyed spoiling Soap by buying whatever art supplies the man wanted. He supported and encouraged any and every creative outlet possible, even going as far as to give Soap his own art room.

When Soap died, he avoided the art room like the plague, as if stepping in there would physically wound him. He couldn't stand being in the room that once held so much joy. Dangling happiness in front of him, as if the room was trying to taunt him with all he lost. It would take months for him to go in that room again, and even longer for him to dare touching anything.

Ghost was never creative like Soap was, but when someone recommends photography to him, he tries it. Both because he has nothing better to do, and because he secretly hopes that the art of it will connect him to Soap.

He struggles hard at first. He doesn't typically spend much on himself, and without Soap there anymore for him to spoil, his savings are solid. He does research and gets an expensive camera, yet he can't seem to get any cool shots like people on the internet seem so effortlessly able to get. He gives up for a month or so, putting the camera out of sight and almost completely forgetting about it.

He stumbles upon it again by accident, and tries again, more out of his own stubbornness of not wanting to be defeated by it, than actually enjoying it. He owns it, and becomes incredibly good at it, not exactly professional, but good enough. he carries the camera with him everywhere, and even has a few people hire him for small shoots. It's become a major hobby for him and he finds some peace from it.

Eventually, when going through the hundreds of photos he has, even the few he got framed because of how proud he was of them, he realizes something. He realizes how he hardly has any photos of Soap. The man that he cherished, worshiped, loved more than anything, and yet there's hardly any physical evidence that they were ever together. He has far more photos of random people, places and other things, and that fact burns him for a while.

Eventually he makes a resolve, to himself, to capture as many moments as possible with the 141, his friends. Be it the good, the bad, and everything in between, he refuses to let anyone else be erased to so little. He refuses to lose a single moment, a single memory, when he has the constant reminders of how easy it is to loose it all.

Soap wouldn't mind being in love with a boy, if it didn't mean he was in love with "The Ghost."

Ghost wouldn't mind being in love with Soap, if it didn't mean he was in love with a boy.

The tension on base was palpable. It was unexpected, unusual, and deeply unsettling. The usually inseparable pair that was Soap and Ghost, were both acting as if they'd gotten into an argument, and their prides were keeping them from discussing it.

The once easy and smooth banter between the Lieutenant and Sergeant was now painfully forced. Like there was some thin line they were dancing across, ever so ungraceful. They were colliding into each other, like stars drawn too close together, and together, they would burn.

It was painfully awkward between the two of them. They were drawn to each other by some force stronger than the laws of the universe. They were still inseparable by physical standards, but they actively avoided interaction despite their constant proximity. Yet, as they both felt their feelings colliding into something bigger, the more they pushed the other away.

The water boiling under the strings of their fate was bound to bubble over at some point. It would drown both of them, lest they acknowledge the ever-growing flame of feelings between them.

Soap always knew that Simon was untouchable. That Simon was so deeply guarded beneath the facade of Ghost that breaking down that concrete wall would shatter something unfixable, be it for better or for worse. Soap thought he'd be fine. That he could avoid the enviable. That he wouldn't fall for the man that was meant to be his soulmate.

It wasn't even that he had a problem with it. He's an open guy and has no problem dating a guy. But Simon. It could've been anyone but Simon, and it would've been fine, great even. Gods how he wishes he could take it all back, go back before he fell, hell, before he met Simon, if only to save him the agony.

Soap wishes he could run away. He wishes he could blindly fall into whatever is festering between him and his Lieutenant. But he knows Ghost won't catch him. Not because he doesn't care, not because he doesn't want to, but because Ghost simply won't accept it. Soap knows the fall is too high, and he'd never survive it. But, he is tetering dangerously over the edge of oblivion, and he can't pull himself back.

Ghost knew he had fallen for Soap the moment he met the bubbly Sergeant, who treated him like he was just another guy. He loved Soap because of how the sergeant looked past his cold exterior and his rank. He loved Soap for being so damn patient with him, even when Ghost would push him away. He loved how easy it was with Soap. How they could bicker and mess around like school kids, how they could talk like they've known each other for forever. He loves how they just click and how they just feel so right.

Ghost would never let Soap closer than a bent arms distance away. Just close enough to mean something, yet just far enough for it to never be enough. Ghost would've claimed Soap as his the second he saw the smaller man if he weren't just that. A man. Had Soap been a girl, Ghost would've poured his heart out, taken the leap of faith, and caught Soap on the way down into bliss. But Ghost couldn't have that. Deep down, something burned into his soul and told him that it was wrong. He had no problem with queer people, but it wasn't him; it couldn't be.

He will never accept the love he has for Soap and it will ruin him. It tears at his heart every time he shoves the sergeant away. His feelings nearly suffocate him when he sees people flirt with Soap. He desperately wants to claim him. Jealousy scorching deep lines into his heart and soul. His gut wrenches, and he feels sick about the whole thing if he allows his mind to linger on it for too long.

Much like glass, too much pressure on the unstable bond they upheld, and they were bound to shatter. It happened days before a mission. Two volatile men, crushed by the weight of feelings bigger than themselves, unable to communicate what they feel.

It's nasty. It's an entirely verbal altercation, but words cut deeper than physical wounds, and words can stick and reopen those wounds at any time. No one dared interfere. The words said were harsh and had an edge of anger that only the hurt could manage. They both burned like bonfires, only fueled off of each other. Their prides were the only thing keeping them from burning out entirely.

They would never be the same. That was the end of them. Two soulmates, names carved into each other's hearts, souls forever intertwined in the destiny of the universe, broken by the will of ill timing. They'd never get to know what they could've been. The amount of joy and exhilaration of loving the one destined for them in every timeline. They wouldn't even know what they had, as small as it might have been, until it was gone.

It wasn't even a few days later when Soap died in action. His heartbreak making him reckless. He never saw Simon again. He died alone, his Lieutenant elsewhere on the battlefield, not wanting to be near the source of his own agony. He died, knowing that their argument was their last real interaction. The torment of that thought alone was enough to kill him. No one would ever know it, but Simon's name was the last word he ever spoke, as his body finally gave out.

Ghost would never recover. They recovered Soap's body, but Simon could never bear the weight of seeing it. He forever blames himself for Soap's death, but he knows there was never anything more for them. Not in this life. The part of Ghost that was Simon died the day Soap did. Ghost would never love. Soap was the only one who could've filled that role, and still Ghost wouldn't have allowed it.

Ghost would die some years later on a mission. His job was his life, and he had thrown himself into it, full force after Soap died. Ghosts body would never be found, but he died with Soap's dogtags pressed against his heart like it would save him.

The things that burn the brightest always go out the quickest. Soap and Ghost were just that. Two stars that burned so brightly they burned out, taking the other with them. They were soulmates. They were lovers. But that was never made for this lifetime. Their happy ending destined to fail along their crash course.
