Ne(n)= No,     -loth = person     (in Elven/Merethic languages, Dunmeris)

So, this

1.is based on ancient metaphysical meaning (looks like Morowind lore, idk...)

  1.5   Face-less men (GOT) vibes here.  Dun dun dun...

2. Some literary origins like Odysseus/Ulysses story pseudonym.

Imagine  (young?) Neloth fighting and tricking giant monsters in a cave and then blinding them and then they ask him who he is and he says ‘‘No-one’’.  Maybe that’s how he avoids consequences.

3. His parents thought he would grow up to be a nobody, which gave him more motives to make a name for himself.

4. ‘‘Nemo’’ kind of means ‘‘No-one’’  D:    (Le GASP)

Mage oppression and Possession

The Mage Rebellion, possessions and mages resorting to blood magic are inevitable seeing How the Chantry and circle handle magic.

This is a (partially intended [ex. Meredith] ) sort of a self-fullfilling prophecy made by the Chantry/Templars.

The Chantry’s power is based on and supports fear of mages. Its main motto is ‘‘ Magic exists to serve man and never to rule over him’’ how would it survive if magic were eradicated?
