I hate it when people think that humanity and personhood are the same thing, when in reality they are completely different. A human is a member of the species Homo Sapiens, whereas a person is a conciousness with enough inteligence to understand what it is. It's like the difference between a wallet and money: sure, most wallets have money in them, and most money (that is visible to the public) is in wallets, but there are wallets with no money in them, or with only postcards and shiny rocks, and there is money lying on the ground, or in a bank, or in someone's stomach.
Shoggoths and hamsters are actually the same creature at different lifestages, contrary to popular belief.
