This is my process of creating a sketch. I start off with a preliminary sketch on simple printer paper so I can get my idea down. Once I have that, I do some splicing after either getting a critique or stepping back. I will write notes- sometimes these ideas don’t make the cut to my final sketch. Sometimes the prelim is what I use in the inking process if I’m happy enough with it, but I will generally re-draw the preliminary sketch into a Strathmore sketch book with all my fixes. Sometimes at this stage I will still need to do a few minor fixes (in this case, I need to shorten the arm on the left and move the right leg closer to the left leg- however, it’s very easy to move the sketch up so I can ink it with no problems. I just have to be careful). I generally use a mechanical pencil (a very simple one- just a Bic brand pencil, nothing fancy) and if I have one on hand, a gum eraser, which is like a vinyl eraser, but softer and easier to get dark marks off the paper. I will ink this once I get some coloured G Tec pens!
Once this is done, we will have a lovely classic lolita Princess Rapunzel. I’m thinking of doing the other Disney princesses, as you can see by my notes on my preliminary sketch! :D

Seeing as you all liked my Celes piece so much (21 notes?! It’s an old piece! LOL!), I figured the companion piece I’ve done of Terra Branford was the obvious choice on what to post next- I apologize for the faded colours on this one, by the way. As usual, this was done with Copic and Prismacolor markers with a Pilot G Tec .04 black pen for inking. I used white and gold gel pens for details.

This is a two year old illustration I did of Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI. It’s old, but lucky for me, it still looks great even though I see lots of things wrong with it. Maybe I’ll do a redraw of it one day! I used prismacolor markers, copic markers and a few gel pens in white, blue and green as well, and as usual, I used a Pilot g tec .04 pen for the inking.

I finished this while watching Tangled (which is one of my favorite movies)- I know that the darkness in her hair isn’t accurate nor does it look blonde, but it looked just fine before I inked the hair. Oh well, live and learn- besides, I still like it, so hopefully you do, too! I did this in mostly Copic and Prismacolor markers, but I used one Promarker as well. I also used pink, purple, and white gel pens for the details in her dress and eyes, and a Pilot g-tec .04 pen for the inking.
