okay but imagine ellie and you trying to come up with some cute names for your baby together. jesse managed to find some old book for parents to be one day when he and his patrol partner stumbled across an old bookstore, and of course he made sure to bring it back and give it to ellie the first chance he got.

the book contains an entire chapter dedicated to name suggestions, and it even has the meaning written right next to them. you’ve been saying every name out loud, rolling them on your tongue, trying to find a name that just feels right.

ellie giggles and tries to find one she likes as well, but it’s not easy. there are a lot of cool, cute, charming, really every type of name, but none of them are the name. maybe your expectations are a little bit too high, maybe you just pick a name you kinda like and it grows on you.

as you flip over the last page of the chapter, ellie sees your eyes light up. “hey, i really like this for a girl…” you nudge her and point at one of the last names on the list.

“it’s real cute, but we need a name that works on a boy too. yknow, just in case” ellie picks up your hand in hers and starts pressing pecks all over your fingers. she has this feeling, like she just knows that it’s going to be a boy. maria, you and jesse are team girl though, but both ellie and tommy are betting on a boy.

“don’t we already have a boy name?” your smile is bright and there’s something in your eyes that ellie can’t read, and her expression must have the confusion written all over it cause you’re quick to add; “joel, of course”

(also this is just for me who lives north up where the sun doesn’t really set at night during summer, but i think abby would really like it being so light outside all the time. so like she’ll take you on midnight walks and go pick wildflowers with you, stay outside for god knows how long because she’d totally lose track of time)

aaaaah! i feel abby would try to ask you out for a stargazing date, chicken out and squeak out a “as friends” while blushing (like anyone’s gonna believe that)

she picks you up that night and oh my god, you look amazing. you’re wearing one of her favourite dresses and you got the hoodie she let you borrow a few weeks ago. you’re quick to clarify she’s not getting it back yet (ever) and you’re just bringing it with you in case it’s cold. how is she gonna make it through this da- totally platonic hangout between two friends?

abby would probably die if she ever admitted this, but she picked up a book about constellations at the library before even asking you out. the plan was to learn some cool constellation and space facts, woo you with her star knowledge and win your heart.

at first she’s nervous, the blush not leaving her cheeks and she keeps on stuttering. it’s a little bit embarrassing, but you love it. it’s nice to see her a little bit flustered once in a while, and it’s even more nice to see her blush on your date together (because once again, like anyone would believe she’s only asking you out as a friend)

time passes by quickly, and even though you got your hoodie on now it’s still getting really cold. of course abby notices you shivering, moving closer to you on the blanket y’all have been laying on.

you’re so close now that your hands are basically touching and if you both just turn your heads slightly abby thinks your lips are close enough to kiss.

a few moments of silence before you let out a breathy “hey abby?” and she turns her entire body towards you, now laying on her side, before letting out a soft “hmm?”

abby barely has time to register that you’ve now also turned over before you kiss her. it’s barely a kiss, more of a peck, and the position you’re both laying in is slightly awkward. but abby doesn’t even think about that, instead all she can focus on is the fact that you just kissed her.

you lean back and look at her lips, then her eyes, then her lips again. “i like you.” you say it so easily and it knocks the wind out of abby’s lungs. “not just as a friend” you add, and your tone is slightly teasing.

abby gives you a small smile before going in for a real kiss this time.
