Because way back in the beginning when Sam explained blood connections between vamps and wolves, he said that they were super rare and that Darlin' likely got their bond with Quinn during their fight. But. Yk. Quinn's a freak. Darlin's a freak. They definitely drank each other's blood before for kinkier reasons than trying to kill one another. Darlin' definitely (in my head at least) got their blood bond with Quinn way before their fight but the two of them never noticed because the only times either of them bled was when they were together.
