He was writing this in the lead up to their departure for military service.

He's handing over his softly beating heart, into our care, and saying,

I love the gentle care that @humblestart1ao3 shows in their observations of this scene.

Their mutual adoration is already clear, and JK cannot hlep himself.

I also love that it meshes well with my thoughts on when their romantic love bloomed, which in my books was during the second half of 2015. I've only been army since 2018 so i wasn't around to witness it first hand but what else did i have to do during Covid than trawl through footage searching for the spark - that first moment when their love had visibly ignited.

I found it in the 4th Gayo. But thats another story 😊

When the Patterns Emerge

I want to share this video. Please skip down and watch the video first. I would love for you to establish your own baseline before reading any of my ramblings.

Now that you have watched - let's do this...

I mentioned on twt that this moment from back in 2015 was very eye opening for me. I won't say it is the moment that made me a Jikooker, but it is the moment that I first REALLY consciously noticed Jikook. I was a fresh new Taekooker back in late 2014 and I LOVED TAE! So of course it was easy to fall into TK. Even back then TK was all over the YT algorithm. I loved them so much but I never could see anything but brothers. Trust me, it annoyed the hell out of me because I kept waiting for those sweeping and defining romantic moments to come - and they never did.

Over time, my eyes started to see things but it wasn't what I expected to see.

I started to see patterns emerge within Jikook interactions; patterns that I was familiar with. And it wasn't happening between the couple that I expected. I've been in love, so I know what love looks like. I am still in love - deeply in love. I've had crushes, I know what that looks like. I've been so smitten with another that I didn't know how to contain it - so I know what that looks like as well.

This video that I am referencing was to celebrate Namjoon's birthday and I think it was posted in November of 2015, even though NJs birthday happened in September 2015. When they all gathered around, I fully expected JK to land behind Tae and spend the rest of the video standing behind him.

So when he didn't...I was immediately confused. What the hell was going on? I literally said at that moment, "Where is he going?"

Keep in mind, I was only 12 months into the fandom. I came in around November 2014 and this was around Sept 2015. I was just watching this like everyone else. And although this is subtle, several behaviors popped out to me as unusual. And it set the stage for what would become patterns of behavior between the two of them. This is not an analysis video or a slow motion "they are so in love" video. It is honestly just a list of things that I noticed when my mind was clear and I had no preconceived notions. So here is what I saw back then:

1) Houdini JK. Where did he come from? He just appeared behind JM and leaned in very close. They were comfortable with each other and that made sense. They are all standing close to each other. But these two are really, really close. (pattern #1) Plus, they are the only two making prolonged physical contact

2) Everyone else is focused on the camera - JK is focused on JM (pattern #2) We all know this pattern VERY well! see below

3) JKs death grip on Jimin's shoulder. How many time have we seen this? Even recently in the Japan airport. This is a death grip with prolonged contact. They are the only two who seem to do this exclusively. It's the 'never letting go' type of grip that makes it stand out from all of the rest. (pattern #3) see below [He does touch Tae later in the video, but it is brief and not this same death grip that he has on Jimin]

Now, ten years later, we even see Jimin doing it. But this pattern goes back and forth interchangeably. The prolonged contact.

3) JK's chin on Jimin's shoulder (pattern #4) below. The first time I saw this was in this video. But as you can see from the other screen shots, it is a pattern that continued through the years.

4) JM staring at him through the camera (pattern #5). There are too many examples to show. Just know that they stare at each other through the camera alot. Look up eye fucking on YT

5) The conversation they have with their eyes . This was the first time that I saw such intense eye contact. You can tell they are speaking to each other. Look how intense this is! (pattern #6)

And that pattern continues. This is ONE of my favorite examples. We all remember this infamous showdown. And there are many others. They can speak entire paragraphs with just their eyes.

6) And last, but certainly not least. JMs subtle little bump to make JK back away. Watch at the 0:30 second mark on the video. So why would he do that? Why would he want JK to back off? (And for those of you who doubt that he was telling JK to back off, watch how quickly JK pulls away after that slight little bump. And watch the look on his face and JMs face. Refer to point #5 which is their ability to talk to each other without speaking.) Why is the bump even important?

It's important because JM made it important.

Here is the thing...nothing that JK was doing was inappropriate. And we can assume by JKs comfort level that this was NOT the first time he had done this. So why did JM intervene? Because there were cameras there. I believe these two were already smitten with each other. They didn't want anyone to know that.

IMO and this is only my opinion - sometimes your thoughts can betray you. IMO JM knew this was not as innocent as it seemed based on what he may have been thinking and based on what JK may have been thinking. They were smitten, crushing, blooming.

Maybe it was the intensity of those feelings that made them perceive this action as inappropriate for the cameras. Maybe they had something to hide and maybe they were hyper sensitive (at least JM was) about keeping it hidden. Through that lens, JM over reacted to something that was harmless.

I can never know what exactly they were thinking. But I can guess based on their reactions. JM was thinking how fond he was of JK. And JK was possibly thinking "This man feels like home". But I don't believe anything beyond that was going through their minds. They were smitten with each other and it was their secret.

But that's how it starts right? Underlying feelings that overtime transition into patterns of affection and then transition again into love. That is probably what JM so desperately wanted to control.

Again, I am not saying that this is proof that these two were dangerously in love. I am saying that this video shows the seedlings; origins of what eventually grew into the giant Ginkgo tree that we see today.

These patterns led to them loving each other so much that they risked their lives on the front lines of the most dangerous unit in the military just so they could be together. Just so that JM could reflect on how fond he is of JK. And just so that JK could feel the comforts of his home. These days - however - they don't care who knows 👀
